In this clip, Herman ‘Cowboy’ Douglas talked about the horrific scene that was left behind after Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot in front of the Marathon Store in 2019. Cowboy recounted hearing the gunshots and seeing Nip lying on the ground. He said he tried applying pressure to Nipsey’s gunshot wounds to try keeping him alive while they waited on the ambulance to arrive.
To hear that Nipsey tried to get up after being shot so many times, breaks my heart but shows his strength. He wanted to live.
He was shot in the head multiple times. I refuse to believe he was trying to get up.

As someone who has gone thru what Cowboy did with Nip, with my older brothers...words can never explain how traumatic that experience is. Trying to hold the blood of someone you love in, so they don't bleed out & die. Praying as hard as you can. Hoping they pull thru. Hell, I was hit as well & till this day I can only remember bleeding on my brother while trying to put pressure on his wound on his neck, & feeling desperate & afraid of him dying but trying not to show it & encourage him to not give up. I can't remember any pain until I woke up days later. That shit happened 9 yrs ago, I was 19, & almost 10 yrs later I still have nightmares about it. I've been thru tragic pain all of my life & have almost died a few times & none of it has hurt as much as that day. June 22nd 2013. Its the reason I fight to get as many lil bros out of the street as I can. The streets have brought me nothing but pain, & someone you trust is going to betray you in the end. I lived it & survived it by the grace of God. But my brothers & Nip & a lot of niggas don't. A nigga that Nip helped, gave him a deal, tried to help his career but he fukd it up, ended up killing him. For no reason. Nip only warned him of what ppl were saying about him so he could know he had to "clean his face" as we used to say. & this nigga on his period & all in his feelings, killed him. For that?!
