This is so beautiful....it makes one wonder about the real role of the conductor......very few meet this match. Definitely unique. Sir Andras is much more than a great Pianist... .he gives meaning to the word musician and artist.
Oooh, Schiff is such a master. Is above the whole thing. Such a calm. His slow tempi are no problem to me. Also Mr. Winters could be happy now 😀 hopefully. Little bit maybe..
Naturally, not only slow tempi make the whole music nice, but concept, sound colors, phrasing, balance, expression. His working with this beautiful Bösendorfer.
Did András Schiff take his grand piano Bösendorfer in his luggage also to Japan ? Vladimir Horowitz had the same idea when he took his grand piano out of his flat in New York in order to fly it to Moscow in the last century. I don't know if it is good idea.
No mediation of a conductor and the communion between the soloist and the orchestra is even greater ! Like in Brahms concertos Schiff is conducting from the piano and the result is a magnificent rendering of this masterpiece.
That was great. Beethoven would certainly be more than pleased listening to this rendition of his 4th piano concerto. Such refined, intelligent, convincing, lyrical and deep musical approach… I love it when the pianist conducts from the pianoforte; every pianist should try to do it once in a while. The better the pianist knows the orchestra part the better they’ll understand how to interpret the piano part… Excellent orchestra, brilliant conductor-pianist. Bravi!!!
When culture, intelligence and talent come together, just at that moment the miracle occurs. Majestic synergy between Schiff and the orchestra. I intuit a wonderful and great previous work of Schiff with the other musicians and only there is the key to being able to dispense with the figure of a typical director. It is not necessary if a suitable job is produced beforehand. Although it is not enough to have the right work but that work is carried out by a suitable director, such as Schiff. Congratulations. Looking forward to going to Madrid in June for his recital.
Japanese audiences are so polite ..... always waiting for the music to truly end before beginning to applaud. Here in the West we often have some Yahoo immediately shouting out "Bravo!" and destroying the atmosphere.
This will be my reference from now on. Sorry Martha, Andreas on an Imperial at the correct tempo is just irresistible. Concert master is also masterly in control !
Every time I see any of this set of concertos I am reminded of what a happy time that chap in the front row is having.
Sometimes I come back just to see his reactions. It makes me think of a better world, where everybody enjoys music as much as he does.

Absolutely stunning, Beethoven's 4th concerto like we've never heard it before, so beautifully poised and lyrical. Magical!!!!!
That gentleman is sublime as the music.

The Bösendorfer Imperial has such a magical sound wow!!!

Did he put a low G silently into the middle pedal before he began at 0:17?!
...ma che chiarezza!, che eleganza!
VERAMENTE SUPERBA INTERPRETAZIONE!!!
...e quanto pone in rilievo le note e così l'andamento della mano sinistra!!!
Loved this. Am in love with Sir András’ love for the music he plays, and with his musicianship.

I think, we could learn a lot from the Japanese ; Japan has a very high standard of culture.

Martha did not play Beethoven 4 as far as I know.
@@renep9968 🤣🤣🤣 good one
@@lubosschelepak7032 It's true. She has too much respect for this piece to dare playing it in public in fear of not living up to its greatness.
Thanks for posting it! Do you know from what year is this concert?

@@xjAlbert Thanks!!
Wow, why all the flutter and distortion? And such low recording levels. The Emperor in this series sounds perfect but this is a mess.
I can’t hear any mess! Sounds really good to me; no flutter or distortion. Strange.
Yes, I hear it too. Special at the beginning. It is technical problem. Not piano or pianist...
