Stealing Mercedes homework and doing it better would be the ultimate burn
Toto gonna fire them all 😂
Newey said na ima make this bitch better 😂
Was thinking the same thing. Proper kick in the balls if they dominate the season again
I think mercedes nailed the aero, redbull nailed the suspension and floor. this redbull could be something absolutely special
This shows the main issue with w14 was the suspension not the side pods
Haha Newey probably figured out what Mercedes could only do in simulation. Guy is a genius
Wowowow buddy they didnt race so far, we dont know if its a success (most probably will be)
@@raul-yd3ob yep, it is
That is the most giga chad move by Red Bull, to look at Mercedes’ failed concept and go like “watch, here’s what you wanted to do 🗿”
Mercedes : Zero side pods doesn't work.
Adrian Newey : Hold My Red Bull
Zero, suggests Mercedes ran a car without side pods, that's never been the case, they had side pods which were smaller than other teams.
@@acelectricalsecurity there was no sidepods my man, if anything it's just a bump in the body
@@GameOver-nm2us nah they were there just a slimmer version
@@acelectricalsecurity dude, look at the car, there no sidepods
@@GameOver-nm2us Already have
In a way I find it hillarious that Mercedes, who certainly are no fools, believed in and worked on a similar concept for a year and a half, but couldn't get it to work. Then the moment they drop it, the guy who is probably seen as the biggest design genius in the industry says: "hey, that's a good idea, bet I can make it work"
This could go 2 ways and it would be funny either way it ends up going.
1. Adrian cooked and they smoke everyone again.
2. What happened to Mercedes happens to RB and they goof it up until upgrades come im.
The 1st cenario is more likely but damn would it be funny to see number 2 happen. Newey is too good to let that happen tho and he’s shown to be the king of ground effect cars.
As good as he is tho Newey isn’t immune to making mistakes, if I remember correctly the ‘04 mp4 19 was pretty slow initially and Newey designed that if I remember correctly
@@techtutorial9050 Worst thing than can happen is if the car is slow in testing they will just show up with RB19 for the opener
@@KS-tz9sg everything points to 1. it's unlikely Mercedes simulation, Red Bulls simulation AND Adrian Newey were wrong. The mercedes concept worked in simulation and if it they could've made it work irl might have had the potential to be faster than the concept red bull had. Chances are red bull with their good suspension have managed to make that more difficult but faster concept work and be even more unbeatable
@@techtutorial9050 Newey has been wanting to leave McLaren for several years by the time and ‘04 McLaren was designed by a lot of big names in F1 like Paddy Lowe and Pat Fry
Adrian Newey saw Mercedes car and said "i can fix her"
If only Christian Horny could be fixed too
Max 24 race wins, 24 fastest laps, 12 poles, 6 sprint wins an at least 1200 laps in the lead during the season!
Got damn we gonna hear dutch anthem 24 time then 😂
Also at the begging of the Dutch GP, so 25 times😂@@Watever310
Left some poles for Leclerc which will turn into Max wins. Smart
I don't think so
Time to stop caring about F1 again, same as during 2014-2020.
RedBull is playing a very high risk - high reward strategy, but after all, that is what they're known for
Well if it all goes wrong, they can do what they did with Renault and start blaming the engine.
If it fails
They will just swap to last years car
It would probably still leave most of the competitors in the dust
@@acelectricalsecurityJust like Renault wasn't a shit powerunit lol. Heck, it still is.
@@patepulkkinenvtec2403 well it got them 4 titles
@@acelectricalsecurity Renault engine was never that great, it was Newey's aero that got Red Bull to those titles.
Adrian Newey. Thats why.
Great video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁👍👍...
We need more of these technical videos. As always, great content, greater analysis!
The inboard channels created by the cannons are there to keep the air that was disturbed by rushing over the halo, cockpit and driver from spilling over and interfering with the downwashing surface on top of the sidepod that helps work the diffuser harder
It is guided between beam wing and rear wing together with the cooling exit around the exhaust, so that all aerodynamically „worthless“ streams of air are exiting where damage the important flows the least
It‘s possible though that Red Bull will use the channel to place the additionally allowed cooling slots there as well to really keep all the losses in one place which would be absolutely insane considering the tight space and on the absolute limit cooling demand fulfillment they are working with following this cooling concept.
Either way, this team is just astonishing
people get so hyped over these cars but when the first race comes along its new wings new bodywork and new floors and thats only what we can see. No point hyping up all this stuff just because we're waiting for a race....
I am drooling over the concepts, they gonna crush again, but worse, while trolling Merc
Just be careful, Mercedes got almost everything wrong, but even Adrian Newey was studying their car intently because it so fast. And for Mercedes car that was by their standards was one worse cars they every made they still came in second in the Constructors Championship. I don't about you but that's scary.....
Yh this true trolling, love it😂😂
@@Madame702 The one of the "worst cars they ever made" thing was just hyperbole from the team. They had two 4th place finishes and a 5th from 2010-2012 when they had bought a championship-winning team and turned it into a midfielder.
@n8pls543 while yes brawn was a championship winning team, remember that before that it was HRT, who wasn’t very good. Brawn got lucky development wise I think. Still good management and stuff, but lucky to find the double diffuser before it was banned
@@Madame702 they didn't "get almost everything wrong", if that was the case they would be towards the back, they still a top 3 team
There’s a reason why Adrian newey focused and designed the suspension first and then aero.
Also rb20 using some w14 concepts without changing driver position
I would love to see Toto & the Mercedes engineers' faces right now
What if Mercedes rock up with a similar design, in testing a few years ago they had a conventional car, then turned up with a car that had tiny side pods, nothing is a given at this stage.
Canons ... now that is a new one since i heard that those were named also side sausages and shoulders. Shoulders sounds the best so far.
Maybe the missing side pods were the problem but everything else around it was good, cuz Red Bull still runs pretty much normal side pods with everything Mercedes built around it.
Adrian Newey just doing side quests at this point
Newey is the only guy at Red Bull I like, other than the drivers and race engineers. I’m a Merc fan, but it’d be so cool to see Newey at McLaren.
Also the first real, non-bot comment here.
Apart from the slight racism from time to time, hes an very smart man.
Newey was at Mclaren during the Hakkinen and Kimi’s era
@@DatBoiGloomy Stop, you're only making me like him more

Merc be having surprise Pikachu face
Merc said the same thing about simulation results, but couldn't reproduce it on the track.
This time Newey says the data correlates with the track performance.
I can wait to hear what Toto and James Allison have to say about Redbull using their W14 concept as inspiration for their RB20.
There is also air inlets on the Red Bull at the back of the halo that feed the shoulder tubes.
Newey really saw the Mercedes and said "I can fix her"
Newey obviously has a good track record. But sounds very risky to change a winning concept a lot.
He said he didn't take enough risks ..
Aldas the engineer…
Newey be like: here, I'll show you how it's done kids!
Adrian said "I can fix her" and he kept his word
Talking about adding insult to injury. It would be the most weird thing ever. Ahahahahah
in fact i wouldnt be suprise if those air intakes are completely back to normal after the first race. the concept failed for merc with overheating and i doubt they'll be able to run that and win at high altitude circuits
They won’t because the intake isn’t where most people think it is, they are horizontal, but the opposite of what Red Bull did last year
@@elChirrinChirriondelDiablo in the rendering the inlets are horizontal, the rendering doesn"t have the vertical slots
in the real life pictures only the vertical slots are visible
Newey making different builds for completing side quests
I have a funny feeling that they have found something that makes the car even better on its tires, after it was superior on its tires in 2023.
Just to be clear because everyone seems to be massively surprised that the RB20 Is so different to the 19 red bull said last year they had only built an average car they could do so much better and they specifically said that the RB20 would not be an evolution of the 19 it would be a revolution and they clearly meant it
Newey and everyone at RB said that this is a evolution to the first car. From 22 to 23 to 24. Why a big part of the f1 community likes to exagerate and tell bs i rlly don t understand. And a big part of the car is still hidden from us until testing. Ffs
@@B.A.Georgian ye go back to last year and red bull were surprised said the RB19 wasnt even that good really they were unsure what had happened to the other teams and they could do such a better job so it's not a surprise what's happened really everyone just likes to go mental lol
Actually Newey literally said in their own red bull podcast that this years car is the 3rd evolution of the '22 car, the RB18. But maybe where we see a revolution in a sidepod inlet, for him it's just an evolution of the same aero concept.
Edit: good podcast to watch by the way. Really interesting to learn a bit about how that man works and thinks, and with him being in his home factory, he is realy relaxed and opens up.
Well the merc was fast at COTA because it was illegally low...
If it was the correct height it would still fast at that track.
@@T-CainesZR1absolutely, but not that much. They were on par/slightly faster than RB that weekend, but RB had done their job and raised the car a lot (see some images). If Mercedes went totally legal, I don't think Lewis could've even come close to Max
@@sergioferrero46the ride height wouldn’t have made that much difference. Merc was barely illegally low.
@@ZZPxFTW every milimeter counts. Also, search for the ride height difference between Mercedes and RB that weekend. Had RB run as low as Merc, they could've been significantly faster (a few hundredths/tenths, but you get me)
@@sergioferrero46 you're completely missing the concept of relativity. Yes every millimeter counts and I'm not trying to defend Merc for running too low, however to go as far as saying RB would have been "significantly faster" when the change in ride height would have realistically only yielded very small percentages of performance, seems slightly out of touch with reality. The time gained for RB by running the car lower would have easily been offset by a driver running just inches off the ideal racing line in a corner. That's the game they play at this level, and to insinuate that merc's pace in Austin was down to the ride height, is a little naive
If they actually knock it out the park with this car Mercedes is gonna look stupid
The sidepods are completely different though. They borrowed the vertical inlet, but those pods aren't anything similar, it's still a downwashing sidepod with large undercuts unlilke the zeropod
Yeah, but the overbite idea came from the W14 crash structure that sits above the vertical side pod inlet.
Mercedes are still doing their own thing, saying they have a conventional sidepods inlet either means you haven't seen the sidepods inlet from the launch car or maybe didn't notice it but the Merc doesn't have any upper or lower cut inlet and also clearly has some bend to have S duct integrated in the sidepods inlet and also there frot wing is probably the craziest in terms of details since they have somehow found a loop hole to get a Y250 vortex generator in this current generation of car. ( BTW that front nose and front wing are completely fake, they used the same in the shakedown of RB19 which people have quickly forgotten)
Newey saw the Merc and said I CAN FIX HER😂
Labas labai galas
Dude the sound that Toto must have made when he saw this car…
Probably the same sounds that most people who’ve followed F1 for awhile at this time of year say - “I wonder what the car will actually look like at testing next week and what else will be added to the car as it lines up on the grid for the first race”
Zero pod RB to be unveiled In Bahrain
I think Redbull is messing with everyone. Just to make the youtubers talk about a fake car and the other teams to second guess their design
Truth
Its unlikely because there is visual evidence of the car being tested at silverstone so unless they wanted to waste millions building a fake car, its real.
They're 100% not doing that, this is the bare bones of the car. In testing they'll show the details and updates that bring it all together.
To think RB an energy drink is beating the likes of historical brands such as Ferrari, Williams and Mercedes is mind blowing.
Red bull are so going to win this season all races mostly with max again..
Mercedes used the "cannon" and vertical intake design last year to help with cooling demands that were made more difficult with such small sidepods and their existing water to air intercoolers. This year, the larger sidepods allowed for packaging their existing intercooler strategy. Red Bull's Honda PU uses an Air to Air intercooler with much larger cooling surface needs and bulkier housing. To add downwash and side-pod cutout, they had to drastically increase the intake area and cannon area to house the intercoolers. The majority of Mercedes' power problems had to do with packaging with the smaller Zero-pods. We'll see if RB has similar problems and needs to detune the Honda engire, especially on hotter circuits.
I doubt it, they would not risk such a critical thing with a new design if there was no evidense for it paying off.
I think Redbull only did this to make fun of Mercedes, and to piss them of, especialy if it works in the end. You'd have Toto going Nuclear and Horner laughing his ass off.
There’s always the idea that the car they presented isn’t even close to their title fighter, and they’re just laughing at Merc lol
Why do we keep thinking the livery launches show the real cars? They have no need or interest to show ANYTHING except the livery, and it's in their interest to not show it off the important changes.
Preseason testing won't even be enough. Last year, teams hid parts of the car during testing.
It's likely there's enough real and fake on the car to keep everyone guessing.
Can you imagine if it doesn't work out?
then they will just go back to RB19 spec
Their can't changed the chassis bruh
is RB just trolling Totto at this point? xD
Not just Toto, apparently they are trolling everyone; making people thinking they gone for the Mercedes style inlet, when they didn’t
Mainly because it was rumoured both red bull and Ferrari arrived to the no pod solution a few years ago but figured it didn’t work, guess red bull cracked it by working on their floor for the past 3 years
They can just risk since they have the only driver who gives you a 0.5 seconds advantage to everyone else
At this point I’m just hoping Red Bull will be like “Sikes! That’s the real car.” and bring back the undercut style car during the testing next week just to troll everyone so hard.
Then they turn up with this new spec car in the race and be like “Remember that I said that’s not the real car? I LIED.”
Just to troll everyone even harder they win by more than 20 secs again.
Can’t wait to see Toto’s reaction.
The engine cover that you're trying to compare has very different concepts
I think Mercedes is bringing concept's from 2015 with the nose cause it worked 9 years ago that's the feeling I've got form that car.
Mercedes main issues were front n rear suspension! Floor n body work!
I’ll tell you a secret:
The inlet of Red Bull sidepods are horizontal, under the “overbite”, juts the opposite of what they did last year.
What people assume to be the inlet is actually something similar to Ferrari’s S-duct.
that's what ive been saying! its more Ferrari inlet then Mercedes. the car looks nothing like the Merc. lots of cars have some kind of shoulders also
Imagine toto if red bull shows up with no sidepods
TUTUTUTU MAX VERSTAPPEN
I would take what you see with a pinch of salt, you won't know what the cars will look like until they rock up on the grid for the first race.
Just because the car has bits that look like the Merc, don't assume it's going to work because newey is involved, he's had his fair share of cars that didn't perform.
0:30: "Which made them[RB] lose out on their only race win of the season"... really!?
Newey looked at the Mercedes 2024 car launch and was like "Oh, you copied our car to get better? Well, guess what, we copied YOUR car, because you got it right all along, you simply focused on the wrong parts. Ill show you how YOUR car was supposed to work on track"
If the RB20 workes in the way Newey said, he will be Mercedes No. 1 enemy and the greatest Motorsport-designer ever.
I mean that rb is still far away from the original zero pod desgine. The only thing both desgines have is a vertical air intake.
I joked RB was gonna copy Mercedes design last season and better it. This is so funny. RB are sods😂
Imagine RB wanting to nerf themselves for a closer competition and end up being even more dominant
This whole thing is weird. They say they did it because the computer simulations say it's fast, but we know Mercades always said the exact same thing; in the simulator, it was rapid. In the real work, it never really worked. Personally, I highly doubt that's what the car will look like come round 1.
Because what Red Bull did is nowhere near what Mercedes did
Newey has said he played it safe. If that isn't rubbing it into Mercedes even more..
if the RB 20 dominates again, i think we need to make a petition for Adrian Newey to go to retirement, He is a living cheat code when it comes to aero.... IF RB had better engines at the start of the hybrid era... we would have seen a way bigger dominance by RB...
Imagine it was crap but redbull persisted with it for 2 years anyway ? Nah me neither.
they saw how teams were copying them specially after Checo's accidents showing the floor, now they will be completly different
another's team tried to copied redbull. redbull : "hello everyone"..
something for the other teams to copy in 2025 then boom, RedBull changes everything and it looks like Williams.
Cos they are tired of winning by such a large margin that it's boring for them. Kinda like when we up the difficulty in the f1 game cos winning by so much is unrealistic
Newey deciding to be arrogant might just be his undoing. Why would any professional in their right minds fix that which isn't broken?! It was funny to read in one RB's instagram post where they said "the rear wing is largely from last year's car - if it ain't broken don't fix it", BRO THE WHOLE ASS CAR WASN'T BROKEN so why lmao
I would love exciting Races but I would also love to see that car absolutely demolish Merc. Either way I think it’s gonna be a good season for me and hopefully for the Rest of F1 as well
So basically Red Bull made the W14 with sidepods and Mercedes made the RB19 😂
Newey is the best so he looked, took and made it better.
Maybe because RedBull poached quite a lot of Mercedes Staff 😂
Or maybe they’re just taking the piss with this, and the car we see in testing will be last years with some tweaks after all!
Newey knows that they wouldn't win constructors championship if Max wasn't in such a form.
Look how close the field was if you remove Max from the grid.
Red Bull wasn't that dominate as result's are showing.
That's why Newey saw something in Mercedes concept that would work better with the RB Powertrain
Well the difference between Mercedes and RB is that at Mercedes all this happens maybe just accidentally. At RB it is all planned. I think someone said that Newey supposedly said that those "Idiots" don't know how it works...but great idea so let me show you.:)
The W13 had a pretty good base.. although I'm no aerodynamicist, the air flow to the rear of that car looked like it was all over the place..while this year's Red Bull is a combination of the W13 /W14B & possibly the Ferrari
Yeah this is wrong. It's already been discussed by industry professionals that it's not the intake. You need to subscribe to less tabloid gossip and more industry channels. You're very late. It's not vertical. That's just a dark area/shadow. The intake is just underneath the overhang of the side pod. Instead of scooping air in over like last year, it draws it in from underneath. Hence the function of the extended nose.
Finally someone that can see it, the vertical intake where everyone is assuming they are simply wouldn’t work, the air flow wouldn’t be efficient to cool the radiators where they are mounted. What we are seeing there is more likely something similar to Ferrari’s S-duct
@@elChirrinChirriondelDiablo agreed. We also have to be wary of what teams are "revealing" vs what they're actually bringing. These unveiling events are really just to show off the new liveries for the season's sponsors. The aero package on track could have significant differences.
@@magnetictheory very good point, what we see is what the teams want us to see.
its over 2025 our year
We can all hope that Newey got it wrong and Red Bull might struggle, but that man rarely misses. It will be hyper embarrassing for Merc if they are dominated by design concepts that they adopted, abandoned, and have openly cursed about over the last two years.
bro the camber…..
like the pink Mercedes, but instead its redbull doing it.
Neu Glases ?
I have a feeling that for some reason there’s going to be a new champion either in 2024 or 2026.
Most likely 2026. As a RB fan, I think they have 2024 and 2025 pretty much by the hand but I think Ferrari will be a serious contender in 2026 both because of Hamilton and the PUs regaining importance. Sure, RBPT-Ford will be competitive, but it will take some time and failures since they'll be new manufacturers while Mercedes and Ferrari are way more experienced
so max 2025 specifically then?
@@sergioferrero46 😂 you're putting too much impetus on Lewis. Remember that he has never done well when the car hasn't been the best. He entered F1 with a top car in the McLaren Mercedes and almost won the championship and did so next year but once the rules changed in 2009 he didn't do that well although he did win a race every season if I'm not wrong. Again he was never able to resurrect the team to past glory and left to join another team. Mercedes endured the hard times with Nico and Michael and when Lewis joined they were the best. He didn't have to build the team from the struggling days. And from 22 onwards when the rules changed and Mercedes aren't doing well, he is going away.
He's fantastic driver but he doesn't have the history of building a team up from difficult times.
What if it doesn't work? What if they messed it up?
Beating merc in their game
Red Bull trolling Mercedes.....This is not their real aero package
People see vertical inlets & cannon and now it’s a W14 lol. There’s aero engineers who say the the aero concept aren’t the same but idiots keep listening to their favorite “content creator”.
Doesn’t look at all bro!
Imagine losing Lewis and a better concept of your better car in a span of a few weeks 🤐
I really think rb will disappoint
They got so bored of winning that they got a bad design from another team just to go win every race this year with it
gonna be extra ironic if it works and mercedes moved away from that exact concept because hamilton didnt like it the development and is now leaving. although its gonna be even funnier if it turns out it uncontrollable and fails just the same.
