that had nothing to do with the trend. It was the video that one guy made. Ik its crazy how that video spawned the grounded series. That video was an actually good video. The protagonist gets in trouble, gets grounded, but at least he learns his lesson at the end whereas the grounded videos just have a loop
To be honest, to see Goanimate/Vyond go from something Alvin Hung made for his wife to one of the most notorious communities on the internet is quite... alarming, to say the least. I've seen people who made the grounding videos come and go, either having their channels taken down by UA-cam, either to disappear online entirely or live on via new channels, retire from Goanimate as a whole, or both. I've seen my fair share of the disgusting content people can make with the content, and the worst of it was the death threats toward Alvin Hung over Comedy World and a few other non-business friendly themes being removed. One person does not deserve death over something so small and insignificant.
Yeah as of recently some Goanimators like african vulture would instantly defended the grounded videos by saying that it made famous while also bringing up that goanimate community would be slow and dead which is ironic because that community was very toxic And to me that's not how it was originally founded. Sure it made famous but the cost of it was reputation as it was originally founded as a helpful tool for people that was vision by alvin hung like it was said in a video and also I bet they never heard advertisements and original goanimate content that was made by people before the grounded videos

As a someone who used to be an Goanimator, I can confirm that probably everyone gets addicted to grounded videos, making people creating their grounded videos on Goanimate, Vyond, Plotagon and anything else

I used to have a good interest on VYOND in 2015, but slowly stopped liking the website as I stopped using said software for good in December 2016.
As someone who used this back in my mid to late elementary school years this hit hard

Wow, and that’s like only a year after the site was published.
Honestly if I were a GoAnimate user who wanted to follow on the trends, I would do grounded videos with morals like one of the original grounding videos intended. This way I can create filler content with decent lessons while allowing character development and buildup for a greater plot.
It’s no wonder your videos that you would make if you actually logged in to GoAnimate could require two sleepless nights to follow the original formula.

Man, I remember being a fan of GoAnimate content between late 2018 and Mid 2019.
I remember being trapped in an endless wave of those grounding videos, ungrounding videos etc.
But then, in the middle of summer, I finally gained some common sense and briefly lost interest in that shit...
I don't regret ONE BIT about giving up on GoAnimate content!
I got addicted to those too. I said bye to those from 2018-2019. Now, I find those videos to be cringe content from long ago.

I used to watch goanimate for most of 2014. I watched it in fifth grade, my friends and I would watch the grounded videos in the school library and we would just be dying of laughter. I hated the behavior card day videos, but I loved everything else. I stopped watching in September 2014 a couple weeks after I started middle school because I kind of “grew out of them”, and my dad convinced me to. But now I’m gonna go back and watch all of the old 2014 goanimate vids, I have so many memories

@@BrimmySPthere’s many reason why, the first reason is that these kids makes the cards into 1 million or more years off, even tho nobody can survive that old. The second reason is there could be more kids in a classroom, with more extra cards, the more kids that are in a classroom, the more cringier it gets. And the third reason is that, the characters they put are either from adult shows, or baby shows that these GoAnimate kids hate baby shows, just they think there super, duper, souper, cool, while in reality, there just super dumb, and have no faith of brilliance.
This is what made me ruin my own childhood temporarily in 2015. All these people do is dislike preschool cartoons just because they are for *babies* as an excuse. I even hated people I used to love, like
• Child characters
• Katy Perry (just because she debuted in "You're So Gay")
• Hatsune Miku (because my dad didn't like it)
• And even my *all time* favorite Dance Central classic character, Oblio.
I remember when my sister was just born around 2014, gave her my Barney toy and said it was a baby show as a joke even though I still liked the show at 6 years old. Then I came across the Barney Errors and that’s what made me see another side of him.
The GoAnimators only hated preschool shows because one, they’re too old for them, and two, they just want to be hip and cool.
The only preschool show they hypocritically enjoyed was Thomas the Tank Engine.
From what another ex-GoAnimator told me, the GoAnimators don’t hate preschool shows anymore but they’re still jerks; when I witnessed some GoAnimators who enjoy Blue’s Clues, I thought they hated every preschool shows except Thomas the Tank Engine and now Blue’s Clues until the aforementioned ex-GoAnimator told me they don’t hate preschool shows anymore but they’re still jerks.

I'm a Goanimator myself. And I agree. Goanimate/Vyond is supposed to be a site to make your own original animations like what I'm doing, not just for grounded, punishment day, dead meat, and execution videos

It’s weird to think that people genuinely made actual animations on Go Animate. I wish that side of Go Animate was known more to the public
One animator used GoAnimate as an april fools joke, then he just switched back to his typical animation as you would expect in the same video and said the program sucks.
I was one of the few who actually used it to make hilarious madea parody cartoons man I had so much fun making mini movies on there
I was a huge fan of Barney Error videos back in 2016-2018. For some reason, I was drawn to both horror and computer software, and these videos combined them. I was scared by them, yet, they were addictive as heck, and I enjoyed them a lot. I didn't care much about grounded videos, but Barney Errors were my jam when I was 12-14 years old!
I used to be a Barney Error creator but moved on from that and the Caillou stuff since a year ago because I actually started to realize how weird and goofy (in a bad way) it was.
I barely used Goanimate in 2016 and then I stopped and never touched it again

It’s unfortunate that goanimate will be remembered as “the crappy animation program used by kids” when in reality if you know how to use it you can make some pretty darn good animations with it. (It-saac is a great example of someone who does this)

Even though i never made a single Video in Go!Animate or Vyond, i could have never been more happy with my decision of leaving the decaying Go!Animate community.
Here is a backstory of mine:
I used to be a fan of Go!Animate and the community in August/September of 2016. I was heavily hooked at the videos they made, But i was very blinded in it's way the Vyond/Go!Animate program was used for, that it took me over a year and a half to realize about it. The program was used originally for Business purposes, and create cool videos. but instead was used to Vent or Release their anger and hatred toward Cartoon Characters (e.g. Caillou, Dora, etc.) or Actual Users. Using methods such as Grounded Videos, Punishment Day Videos, and Dead Meat Videos. And on November of 2017, i became conscious with myself thinking "Why is everything the same?", "Is this the site was made for?", and "What am i doing here? Why tf is everyone unoriginal". Following that, I stepped off from Go!Animate knowing that it had a very bad reputation anyway. The Users there had very long usernames with the UTTP, ATHDTTC kind of stuff, idk what those are, and the FTW & FTL stuff in it too.
(So basically, I Left Go!Animate because everything is just repetitive)
This video will forever be a memory that i made a good decision of leaving something so bad, and try to move on and be original, Because Being Yourself makes you Special.
But in all regards, Maybe one day Go!Animate/Vyond's Reputation becomes good like the old times. Only time will tell.

Goanimate was my childhood too, I used to recreate them with some of my toys (but I didn't record it tho)
I used to watch Goanimate videos when I was 5 or 6. But I moved on, I lost interest.
I honestly never got why people really liked grounded videos from Go!Animate/Vyond. I praise those who actually use the site to make original characters and stories to express their visions and passions, like with what I've been doing for the past couple years with my series.

There was also “held back” videos where the character/s get helf back from 12th grade to preschool, usally ending in a massive temper tantrum about the students wanting to go back to 12th grade. The reasons could be anything from burning cown the school, to simply getting a wuestion incorrect. And also the “by the numbers” videos where the creator would rate chararacters or other things by assiging them a number.
I remember I used to watch a behavior card day where it was over an hour long

I use to watch these back in 2016-2018. A lot has changed since those years.
Oh my gosh... I was once a Goanimator back in 8th grade. It was just me and my crappy chromebook making these videos, but I didn't care because I loved them! But after I was over with that obsession, I deleted the videos. Now I'm 20, and I sometimes look back to it and wish I didn't delete them, as I could still see what I made in that era if I didn't. Oh well!
Interesting video about the goanimate community. Sucks that most stuff on Goanimate were grounded vids. Thankfully it appears to be coming back in better shape

Yeh. There were very few videos that used that formula along with an actual plot. I remember one where Cailou and Dora were so sick of their families grounding them they ran away. While their families were charged for consequences, they were adopted by different families. Eventually the families and friends and acquaintances reunited years later for Dora and Cailou’s wedding.

I can tell this channel has a lot of potential to grow. My only complaint is the audio quality, but everything else is surprisingly great!

Nevertheless, underrated this video and loved your edits, mate. As someone who used to be in this shit hole of this community myself and trying to grow away from it, I can confirm it is falling apart. Also, believe me, or not, it has gotten worse than anyone can imagine.
Not gonna lie, plotagon, and these videos literally made my childhood so nostalgic, fun and memorable.... now I'm a mid-teen and life is just more harder. Being a 2010s kid was simpler...

Also worth noting how 2011 was a huge year for GoAnimate. The site was already hated for commodifying animation, but Harry Partridge’s video took it a step further. Not to mention the UA-cam studio was what brought a ton of people into GA
(I remember watching a GoAnimate ad back in 2010 and seeing everybody trashing the service as lazy and kiddie in the YT comments)
As someone who is been aware of the Goanimate/Vyond downfall, it's surprising to see that one person making a grounded video in 2011 would trigger a explosive trend, and thus ruin the entire site. But not only that, it not just the site that is littered with these videos, the people who make these spread to other websites on social media, such as like Google Slides, Plotagon, Scratch, and Gacha Life. I admit that I even used to make these videos back in 2018, but now that I retried from making these, I've have made better videos. Although there a handful of decent or original ones, but still.
7:28 One slight mistake... Wrapper and Wrapper: Offline are both separate things. Wrapper was taken down by Vyond because it was an online tool. Thankfully, Wrapper: Offline is an offline application, which means it can't be taken down, and is still being used today.
TL;DR: The founder of GoAnimate had a "We're a real company now" moment and decided to crack down on people using the site so they couldn't have fun with it anymore.
I remember watching my first goanimate video back in late 2014. Very interesting how most of the community is always at war with each other especially regarding what content should be made on Goanimate.
Been watching GoAnimate in the early 2010s, don't know exactly what year, maybe in 2013-2014. I was into it with AniTrooperGirl's videos firstly, who I heard he has passed away. I also watched funtime videos, OS videos, and grounded videos.

As a Go!Animator, I would say that this is a pretty accurate representation on what's going on
I still make grounded videos to this day. They are how I make most of my ad revenue from to live in my house. I never try to post anything too gruesome but just entertain people. I never thought I'd be the "downfall" of anything.

This is a very good and well-produced video about the site and how in the end, the community left a legacy that most websites don't normally get. It of course wasn't great, but you get what I mean.
I never made any grounded videos in my life or any of the trendy types, but I did watch quite a lot.
I remember I used to be into these videos when I was younger and even had my own GoAnimate account for a little while until switching to Plotagon. But as I got older, I started to gain some common sense and started to lose interest in these grounded videos and especially the cruel “punishment day” videos. I also started to realize the toxic community, especially the UTTP, AUTTP, and AAUTTP wars and other users threatening and cyber bullying each other. I haven’t made any animated videos in a while but I might go back to making original storylines like my existing series about some best friends of mine that are superheroes

Im a Vyonder/Go Animator myself, and now that I know about this, I hate how many people just talk about wanting to do Grounded videos in the community. I had no idea what this meant, but this just seems like some slop, like Skibidi Toilet...
I like some immaturity, and I like early 2000s humor and the style that was created. I like replicating this style and be a bit more "edgy," but I still try to keep boundaries and make professional products of storytelling and animation.
I even wanted to make an entire movie at one point, which was supposed to be really emotional, for a dumb sitcom called Mom and Incel. But i lost my video because of the trial duration expiry
I switched to the wrapper for now since theres no watermark and more things to do, plus its offline. (and its less annoying)
Vyond just give me the trial forever, it sucks and nobody likes this GIGANTIC AWFULL Watermark.

I’m not even invovled in the Goaniamte community at all. I made the accident of responding to on a goanimate UA-camr’s comment on some random video. I don’t even remember what I said but they got so mad they created a fake impersonation account of me and started spreading hate. And here I am today trying to learn and understand this community cause it just makes no sense why everyone is so toxic.
I'm not sure if someone else talked about this, but I guess I'm the first to do so.
2 parts I think you missed out.
1) GoAnimate/Vyond probably stole the style and backgrounds from a 1999 TV series called "Family Guy", but with slight modification. That's all I have to say for this one. I'm not sure if the company got permission from Adult Swim or Fox to use it.
2) Caillou was the most targetted to be blamed in the community, because in the 1997 TV series (in Canada/Quebec, 2000 in America, cancelled in 2021 from PBS Kids), Caillou had been in a temper tantrum and other crazy things just so he can get away with anything, and nobody in the show does anything about it. However, in the new, web browser series (despite being remakes of older episodes), Caillou was officially grounded by his mother. As of the time making this comment, I find it hard to believe whether this was fan-made or canon. That's not all. Cinar, Caillou's creator, after the success of another TV series called Arthur, had it's own crazy history. If you want more about this second part, I suppose you go watch ElectricDragon505's video about ranting Caillou and it's history. Similar things happen in Peppa Pig and Max & Ruby, but I don't know if they're that as bad as Caillou.
Edit: Never forget the funniest GoAnimate/Vyond user, NotSmirks. He predicted Gen-Z humor I hope.

I used to watch this stuff, but I realized when I got older the people in this toxic community had no sense of nostalgia! They called shows for younger kids baby shows and ranted on them bc they were for kids. Sure, they may not appeal to everyone, but using the characters to go through brutal punishments for just misbehaving is just wrong

AH YES,I remember those videos were the first introductions to the community...I start to force myself into hating those "bAbY sHowS"...but in the inside. those nostalgic shows(that I liked) raised me as a kid,and I felt pretty bad.
Sadly, I used to be part of this toxic fandom back between 2016 and 2019. Thank god I left it.
The worst parts of GoAnimate were late 2015 to mid 2016 and 2020 onwards. In late 2015 to mid 2016 people started hating Sky from Total Drama, Boomboxer from Super Paper Mario and Sally Acorn for being "Overrated" It wasn't true! than the community's toxicity became worse, more drama started to occur, people began hating tv shows to the extreme such as Strawberry Shortcake, Total Drama All Stars, ETC, more grounded videos, more punishment day videos and dead meat videos started to be made, The worst examples was the videos of Sky from Total Drama getting grounded, and for the fact that people started shipping Sky from Total Drama with Boomboxer from Super Paper Mario was another reason why i slowly started to dislike Vyond and GoAnimate, now we approach to 2020, what went wrong? The Childish Dad gets grounded series videos and the Tripp's Gang Videos, those videos were not fun to watch and the community became worse and worse especially with the Punishment Day videos as they became overused. Those will leave stains on Goanimate's legacy and it's thanks to reasons that i mentioned.

Grounded videos are the definition of internet brain rot, I got quite a good number of laughs from them back in the day; although I was admittedly more of a plotagon guy. Wild how the site evolved so much since like 2018 since I last checked in

I remember I used to watch Goanimate videos on UA-cam in 2015, when I was in Junior High as an 8th grade but I stop watching the random videos of Goanimate because I didn’t like it because of the same repeating sound. The GoAnimators always disrespect opinions. Let’s say you enjoy Bionicle and Transformers and you hate Bakugan and Beyblade for example. The GoAnimators who enjoy Bakugan and Beyblade, and hate Bionicle and Transformers would actively disrespect your opinions and try to force you into having the same opinions as them.
Coming from an ex-GoAnimator, when I was one throughout most of 2013, I was echo-chambered into enjoying MLP as I hated MLP at first considering the GoAnimators never respect opinions.
I also have witnessed several GoAnimators claim they respect opinions while in reality, they never do.
Honestly, it's hard to call GoAnimate/Vyond as a business program after its grounding past, but I get the idea. Not everyone wants to spend lots of time on making animations, so they use Vyond instead. Nothing will be better than a actual animation in a frame by frame animation software, but it's crazy to see the things people can do with limited resources.

A long, long time ago, when I was a kid, I had a Goanimate account and actually bought assets to make videos with. I made a bunch of little cartoons and then lost interest. I came back a few years later and found that they had rebranded and my account was gone. All of the cartoons I made were gone, along with the assets I had bought through microtransactions. Still salty about that one...
You can do the same GoAnimate stuff in Flashthemes (like making actual comedies in the Comedy World theme), and you can also make cartoons (anime-styled) in Gacha Club and Life and Life 2 (if you like Gacha, and you make SFW stuff in gacha)

I left the goanimate community back in 2020 and haven't looked back.

I’ve made a couple vids like that in the past, a guilty pleasure of mine (as I despise Caillou) that keeps coming every other year and then vanishing in the blink of an eye. The grounded community is definitely a huge brand risk that is obviously what sunk them, it has persevered despite years of vyond actively trying to kill it.
But I really don’t get the negativity of that community, though. Must be because their average age is like 12, not exactly the kindest or most mature age. And apparently they’ve been grounding people the characters have no parental authority over, like creators they dislike, characters from less reviled kids shows and… Minecraft animations? I’m glad it seems like they’re going nowhere, goanimate serves as a means of quarantining them.

At the start I thought this was going to be a video bashing goanimate but I was absolutely wrong! This gave me a completely different point of view of GoAnimate and even makes me sad about how it was being abused. There are a few goanimators that make decent and original videos, the most popular being TheRealRandomLozzie.

I’ve been a fan since 2012 when I was using GoAnimate, and it was really good, but I used to do grounded stuff, but no more. I made some really good videos such as remakes and parodies. When I was using Vyond for a couple of years, but it was good, and when I finally got Wrapper Offline, I started using it and it’s the classic GoAnimate that we all know and loved. “Comedy World” is the best, but “Business Friendly” was great, but I did went back to “Comedy World” after I used Wrapper Offline. I made my own series called the “MTN Gang” and it was a success. I made so many episodes for 3 seasons in both GoAnimate For Schools and Vyond, and now I’m planning on doing a 4th season at some point with Wrapper Offline with the return of “Comedy World”.
I used to want to join the community back in 2017, now i am not too sure. This community isnt the worst thing because unlike the Gacha (terrible) community, it doesnt mess with other fandoms. Also the videos in the community arent as bad as the community itself

This is some actual true facts. As I may still make wrapper offline content, the vyond community was becoming way too toxic just as far that the human eye can see. It seems that people used the “gRoUnDiNg” parts over and over again to the fact that they might get eventually hated on at this point.
I once got hated and got death threats by a Goanimater by the name of "Inferno Bledose". I first made some video about a PNG tuber and about 2 hours later, I got a comment by him saying that the PNG tuber is better than me. I didn't really understand so I checked on his channel and a new video titled "Kaiden Barillas gets killed by RPG!" I saw the video, and it was a image of the goanimate avatar shooting me. I thought this was a joke, but he was actually hating on me. I checked on his channel a couple days later, and he made a video titled, "Kaiden Barillas Aquatic Punishment Day!" He made a FREAKING PUNISHMENT DAY ON ME. I was for some reasaon really excited since I like getting attention from other youtubers so I saw the video, and I kinda liked it cause I was being hated by some 8 year old or something... I commented on his videos, asked him if he had discord, and he added me. I was a bit curious so I asked him why he's so toxic, he responded with "Because I have freedom of speech." Even though you have freedom of speech doesn't mean you can be this toxic. He said he was making another hate video on me with an angry emoji in the responce. I was a bit scared so I ignored him. But 2 months later, he said he will be quitting UA-cam. I checked on his channel, and there, all his videos were deleted. I has so happy at this point. I think GoAnimate aka Vyond might come back soon for it's intended purpose. It's sad seeing a service with so much potential being used to make the same stuff over and over again. (grounded/dead meat/punishment day videos) The definition of insanity.
I find it sad that the only reason why a lot of people used GoAnimate was so they could hate on cartoon characters that usually weren’t even their target audience. (Calliou, Dora the Explorer, and Barney the Dinosaur are good examples)
Besides preschool show characters, the GoAnimators would make videos against characters they disliked, popular or unpopular, unpopular characters like Jar Jar Binks for example, made-up dark characters like Dark Shadow the Hedgehog for example, and villains.
If you wonder why the GoAnimators hated preschool shows, it’s because one, they’re too old for them, and two, they just want to be hip and cool.
You know which preschool show character I discovered before I discovered Go!Animate? Dora, Barney, or Caillou?

Former GoAnimator here. I used to make these types of videos. I stopped using GoAnimate in 2015. I got tired of using it. I’m honestly surprised that these videos still exist
I used to be a user of GoAnimate and Plotagon and made videos on them for UA-cam between 2017-2019. Back then, I was originally called Gabe The Sesame Street Fan, before changing my name to SlappySquirrelFanatic2001 (I still love Sesame Street for life, but Animaniacs is now my most favorite show). Back in the day, I was the creator of the Rabbit Gets Grounded series, which centered on Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh, as I used to have an extreme hate boner for him as I found him bland and unlikeable. The punishments used to be really harsh, with most punishments including punishment days, but started to mellow out in 2019 due to the punishments portrayed beforehand being child abuse. I also did other characters like Caillou (Which I lost hatred on later on and made him a good guy), but I mainly focused on Rabbit. I also made ungrounded videos out of characters like Tigger and Elmo from Sesame Street, which were more lighthearted compared to the grounded videos. But eventually, in the summer of 2019, I started to lose interest in Vyond and Plotagon, and wanted to focus more on different videos that I also upload (Mainly VHS and DVD openings/closings, logos, commercials, etc.), so eventually, during the last two months of summer, I uploaded 3 more grounded videos out of Rabbit, and then officially retired from Vyond and Plotagon. A past I was ready to grow out of and move on to bigger and better things. And nowadays, I plan on becoming a more serious animator, being inspired by cartoons like Animaniacs as well as adult cartoons like The Simpsons, Family Guy, and South Park. And instead of crappy drag-and-drop animation, I will use actual hand-drawn animation, digitally, of course, since it’s the modern age now. I can’t wait to start working on bigger, better, more groundbreaking animations soon.
But one thing I would like to point out is that while I was indeed one of those weird immature teens who made a shitload of grounded videos, I was also one of the few that defended Alvin Hung. While I was bummed that we couldn’t get the cartoon themes so easily, I understood why he did it (Sort of, I was one of them that assumed he did it because he became poor and needed more money) and managed to use them through other means like Requestly.
Oh yeah, another thing I want to do is be a music maker, mainly using synths and MIDI keyboards and sound modules. I mainly want to use the E-mu Proteus 2 as I grew up with many shows that used it like Thomas and Friends. And I will also use these synths as well as orchestral samplers on my cartoons.
I remember 2017-2020 go animate videos were always funny and original but after that this community became the most drama filled community on yt…

I know the GoAnimate community is so toxic I’m actually a Goanimator that doesn’t create Grounded videos anymore because I wanted to come up with my own series of videos but yes there is so much drama in the community
My school at one point had an IT class and one of the things we did was make goanimate animations and thinking back, maybe it's not so bad that the stuff i made there is probably lost to time 😅 The world can only handle so much cringe.

My best guess why they hated villains were they’re usually jerks, they simply do evil things, and they may enjoy Hero Factory.
