Thank you so much for this video - my husband managed to jam the tailgate partially open, and using this video I have managed to open it again :)

Dude you are the only video on UA-cam that actually shows the emergency release on this gen of XC90’s. I pull parts from cars and I spent almost an hour trying to pull the rear latch apart before I found this video.
I popped it open in 3 minutes because of you. You rock.

That makes two of us. Did you find out or fix your trunk problem? I’m having a hard time identifying the cause of mine

Your video just saved our vacation. First day trunk door wouldn’t open, car with 2 adults 5 children and fully packed! It would be hell to load and unload everyday from the back door. Just fixed the problem with your help and gonna enjoy our holidays in France with the family! 😅

Thabk you so freaking much. I've literally never found any other person explain this except you. This worled on my 2004 volvo XC90. I wish there was a way to toss some money to people who make some real answers to problems. Thank you thank you thabk you. And remember people, use a smaller thin screw driver and push the catch downward.

Thank you for this video! I encountered an issue with the plastic cable connector breaking down between the tailgate handle and the latch release mechanism. The fix was a tiny $0.28 hose clamp in just the right spot to bind everything back together again properly. I could never have made my way in there to remedy the issue without this video.

Thanks for posting this video. As Casey said, you were the only person to show how to pop the trunk.. You saved me a ton of time.. thanks... Looks like my solenoid died and it got stuck in the lock position. I thought it was the cable or the plastic ledge the plunger pushes on at first. Ended up buying a used tailgate lock assembly on ebay for

Super helpful video! My problem was different from the one in the video but still so good. The only time I questioned what to do next was with the yellow tab and how to put it back once you pull the wire out. Stopped there for a moment and researched a bit more first.

Thanks bud, loads time saved- you're a legend.
My problem is yellow clip that chipped one of its arms and not holding black plastic together anymore. Temporary fix is one zip tie.
Observation- you have light to the right and "empty" handle to the left. My other v70 i can open from the inside with a simple pull of a handle, no stripping or tools required. I think I'll buy used inside handle from v70 and change it so i can open it from the boot. It looks like there is another cable connection possible and space to run a cable. Your thoughts?
Also if anyone knows part number for this little yellow clip I'd like a good laugh assuming Volvo charges fortune for it 😉

Hi do you know if this will work in Volvo XC90 2003?

Thank you very much. Got it open! Now to work out what is wrong with the lock. When I lock and unlock the car, there is a little clicking sound in the lock but it won't release. Does that sound like the servo motor to you?

      Hello Dev,
Sounds more like the rod is corroded. Once you remove assembly you will soon find the cause of the proble.
      Cheers

Yes, you’ll have to force it out. I broke some clips during the process tho 🙂. But I was happy fixing it door 🎉🎉🎉
