      As a professional, I can tell you that your scalp/dandruff issues is NOT a scalp problem, it is a Digestive problem. Your body contains lots of Yeast which is manifesting on the scalp. Yes, dandruff is yeast. It's what also cause Athletes foot. The foods you eat creates an abundance of Yeast because the body is TOO ACIDIC, your PH is off, the body needs to be in an alkaline state.

    • @catherinebutler3003
      @catherinebutler3003 4 роки тому +244

      I have to say that my generation, born in the 60s, used grease differently. My mom used Suave shampoo & conditioner (rinsed out), then greased the scalp (thin layer) and hair; styled in braids, plaits, twists, ponytails or buns, then air dried....that's it. We greased the scalp, brushed the grease down our stands and added more grease to the hair, only if needed. We didn't do deep treatments or leave-ins either, and hair stayed moisturized between washes, every 2 weeks. The water and conditioner hydrated the hair, and the grease helped to condition the scalp and hair along with keeping the moisture in. We didn't struggle to get it out either, doing 2 washes. You have to use a sulfate shampoo, or Dr. Bronners Castile Soap to wash the scalp and hair clean. I noticed that people are using way more grease in their hair than we did. I still have a lot of healthy waist length hair, which would be longer if I didn't cut a lot. I went natural again in my 40s and became a product junkie(smh). Now I'm ready to reintroduce conditioning hair dressers and grease again to see how my hair reacts. Natural products are so expensive. Peace and Blessings!

    • @itsrashard
      @itsrashard 4 роки тому +25

      Catherine Butler Personally i don’t use grease because you have to use a strong sulfate shampoo to get it out of your hair and I’ve had some bad skin reactions to shampoos with strong sulfates.

      Grew up with a Single father and he used Hair Grease for a time, but we decided to stop because it was giving me HORRIBLE acne that wasn't going away even with dermatologist-recommended ointments.
      Although I don't think the grease was working as effectively in my hair as it should've simply for the fact that back in the day. Hair Relaxers were also popular and it wasn't until around 2014 or 2013 when black people started realizing just how horrible that shit is for your hair. We were using the grease, but the relaxers just flat out ruined the structure of my hair strands so it probably didn't help at all. Now, as an adult I have more freedom to do what I want with my hair and I've been natural for about 4-5 years now. I've still had issues retaining length (as Hair relaxers have damaged my scalp so much that some sides just don't grow at all and remain forever dry) and issues with dandruff so hopefully going back to hair grease and strong use of protective styles will remedy this. I'm super excited!

Then one day as I was going through YT natural hair channels, I realized that natural hair rules had changed, and grease was forbidden, so I stopped. Immediately, I noticed that my hair had a sand-like feeling, and discovered that I was having a SEVERE case of single strand knots, something I had never experienced before. I am back to using my grease, only that this time I apply a lot of water before I seal it all in with the grease. I no longer have the knots, and my hair is back to its previous healthy form.

    PSA: When oiling your scalp and putting it in your hair, USE A SMALL AMOUNT...don't gob it on like oil moisturizer, it will be hard to remove when washing. Also tie your head up with a satin or silk scarf to protect your pillows.

    • @GirlXO
      @GirlXO 4 роки тому +3

      Ros, Castor oil/Jamaican black castor oil helped my dry scalp and might encourage hair growth. Coconut oil is good for dry scalps too. Some people also use vitamin e oil which (I think, correct me if I’m wrong) strengthens the hair. You can also add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to a carrier oil(things like coconut oil, olive oil etc) to promote hair growth since peppermint oil attracts blood to the applied area, increasing blood flow and in turn promoting hair growth. Always dilute essential oils at a concentration of no more than 5%

    Will, when I was a child I wanted a chemistry set, Mom said no. She thought I would blow up the house. Well I continued to play chemist mixing things in the kitchen and in my craft room. Back in 2015 I started mixing my own treatment for my hair to give me shine and definition.
    This is what I came up with.
    I put Shea butter in my microwave for a few min or so. Let that cool down but, still liquid. Put the melted Shea in a Glass bowl then added a little at a time of African Pride, Shea Miracle, Leave in Conditioner. I then mixed this concoction with a electric hand mixer till it was light and fluffy. Placed the mixture in small containers and stored it in the refrigerator till I needed some. Let me tell you oiling my scalp and hair with that cool mixture was so enjoyable. I still make it to this day. This mixture is light and adds moisture to hair and because of the light weight it washes out with no problem. P.S. I applied it to freshly washed damp hair. P.P.S I'm 69 this year so you know I have been through several hair styles and treatments over the years, I have tried it all. Natural hair styling is my favorite. Love your channel and I am a subscriber. You are a delightful young man, keep up the good work.

    Someone else mentioned this in a different grease video and I never even thought about it but back in the day our mama's used grease all the time AND sulfate shampoos to wash it out. These days we all want sulfate-free cleansers but like you mentioned in this video it took 5 or 6 lathers to get out silk that grease. So yeah if we go back to the basics (blue magic) then guess we gotta go all the way back to whatever old school shampoo you used too

      Kimberly Reece yes! I wash my hair with sulfate shampoo then use sulfate free shampoo on the 2nd wash or sulfate shampoo for both washes. I can’t depend on sulfate free shampoo to clean my scalp 😩

      I think any sulfate shampoo (that is also silicone-free) will suffice.

      Creme of Nature detangling shampoo which they stopped making the original formula because it would’ve put all these other shampoos, hairsprays, conditioners, hair serums, leave-in conditioners, etc..out of business. You only needed that one product which did everything for our hair. Now we have to buy product after product hoping to get the same results...That a $7.99 32 ounce bottle did without the need for anything else which last for months at a time.

    A.) Your hair has gotten so long, and it looks amazing, and I'm super jelly.
    B.) I've been natural for about 5 years now, and at first I was all on the "no grease" hype train like all the other naturals, but I live in a foreign country where the dry winters will NOT let my hair and scalp be great! So I found an African salon where they had some black products and one of them was Blue Magic Originals Super Sure Gro Grease (which smells like fruit punch kinda). I used the product along with my moisturizer and my hair STAYED moisturized and beautiful that whole winter! So now I'm dedicating my winter months to using grease now.
    I won't use it in the summer though because it's too freakin' hot.
    C.) For my scalp, I usually use the Sulfur 8 grease which has been helping a little. I slap it on my scalp the night before I wash my hair on wash day. But the real method that's been helping me lately has been Green Beauty's sebum dispersing method. It's where every night (or every other night), I basically scoop my scalp's sebum down my hair strands. This has been helping A LOT with my build up, flaking, and sweaty scalp issues. Because it may not be product build up. It could just be an overproduction of sebum.
    Sorry about these long ass comments, but I thought they would help! Lol

      Do you dilute it with water? I want to try but would like to know the proper ratios to use so I don't damage my hair

    • @TanukiOfficial
      @TanukiOfficial 5 років тому +2

      @@celestielsigh Equal parts water to apple cider vinegar is standard, but of course you can adjust it to see how your hair responds. I've even used 100% apple cider vinegar when I didn't feel like mixing it up and I didn't have any problems. I put it on before getting in the shower - for 5 minutes and up to several hours. If you have large patches of dandruff, you will see some shedding on the 3rd day, so take that into consideration. One friend thought it wasn't working because of the shedding, but he found out it was clearing his scalp.

    • @ALThickMadame
      @ALThickMadame 5 років тому

      Exactly right! I scrub/scratch my scalp and just apply it straight to wet hair. I don't dilute it or any of that, but others might need to. If I'm doing it consistently, I only need to so it once, on wash day, but if I don't, I have to do it twice then do the normal shampoo and condition follow up.

    i’m blessed to not have any dandruff/dry scalp problems. but i’ve been using blue magic to seal the moisture in my high porosity hair. it keeps my hair moisturized for the entire week, my hair is mad shiny, i have bomb definition, and since it repels moisture from the outside, i have minimum frizz! i’m just tryna get into the habit of oiling my scalp 😭
