Excellent points made about the big companies vs the boutique ones. I personally like that there are people creating these boutique strings. I am sure they are billionaires right now. Haha. I bet they have slim margins still as they are in that first 5 years of building a brand. Liste that was a big opportunity for the big brands to use micro influencers. They could have, but stuck to old school just sponsor pros. In the last 10 years all companies that disrupted was smarter at marketing and the boutique string companies are using that play book. They have great marketing, websites, colors and so forth. I have tested many of their strings. Some good and some great. My stringer says I am the only trying cool new things and the receptionist at the club she says those strings look the coolest. Most of these polys are very arm friendly which was the first thing that peaked my interest. I found them to be so. My fav setups are zero/sync and O-torro (the string that felt weird but just elevated my consistency in matches- like a lot more match wins) I am busy testing o-torro / sync. So far really good. I have maybe spent $300 on their strings over the last years testing and trying. I think they can put a deposit down on mortgage with all my spending. 😆
Thank you! I agree, obviously, with the marketing haha. It makes me distrust the brand more, if anything. And I know the cost of that dishonest marketing is being put on the strings for me to pay for. Not a fan. That, and I honestly think these strings just blow that stuff out of the water. I'd prefer these regardless of the marketing. Good on you for trying new things! It's worth the journey just for the fun or the gems you find and maybe share. That's what I do but I really enjoy it.
Otoro full bed seems to last more and play better over time compared to otoro+enso pro carbon, k pop i notice does last a lot of time tension maitinence is insane
I think caviar might hold tension really well. Like exceptionally, even amongst strings that are labeled as holding tension really well. Wasabi famously doesn't kind of but it is interesting to think caviar can offset that enough.
Just so we all get it "Ether is Wasabi but slightly thinner and more crisp" hahaha Loved the video! I was about to buy some toroline strings to test out and this video came perfect for me to decide which strings to test. Also, It would be awesome If you could compare Wasabi + Wasabi X with Ether + Wasabi X
Yeah well it literally is that and kind of plays as that would imply haha. I've generally gotten more feel with it. They both seem to lose tension kinda fast but at least the snapback is always there. I think I lean towards ether over wasabi these days.
Thanks for the review. Maybe one day you can try Absolute. Also wanted to say, you're correct about snapper. It has a slight crisp outside and a smooth pocketing sling shot feeling in the sweet spot. Its very powerful for a poly and i was shocked how hard ball came off the sweet spot. The issue is, its to uncontrollable on top spin shots, id really have to bump the tension up to 5 lbs from 52 in my shift. It may be better in a control racket with that extra bump in power and launch angle. What's your opinion on Enso vs snapper in power/control?
I had a hard time controlling the ball in general with snapper so it's hard to be very objective about the power. It pocketed so much that I struggled to brush over the ball to pull it in the court. I might try again sometime but I have been hesitant.
@ZeroLoveTennis snapback is very good but in types of feel is more like a round string it's crisp but not as much as zero and its less powered more controlled with zero i need to give more topspin in my swing otherwise it launches easy
@@ZeroLoveTennis it's more individual i think the snapback is better but it last not as long as zero, it has a type of power but more controlled and it feels a bit softer as zero or wasabi i like it very much my crossstring is toroline caviar and i play this setup in an head tgt 345.2 and nothing is near this setup outstanding which strokes are possible to hit
Hi, I have ToroToro and Enso Pro, both neon pink. I want to use ToroToro in the mains and Enso in the crosses. My racket is Tecnifibre TF40 18x20 305 2022 model. Could you recommend me what tension I should use? Right now I use Tecnifibre 4S 22,5kg in the mains and 21,5kg in the crosses. I could use bit more power than I have right now. But as you said those Toroline strings are powerful strings so I don’t know what tension should I use?
That tension could be fine but IDK what strings you're coming from! I suggest trying it at the same or just a little bit lower so that way you know how much more to go next time from what you're used to. String at your reference tension, in other words. You'll likely get it just right the second time. First time is always a bit of a guess.
Currently using wasabi mains and wasabi x on crosses on my speed mp 2022. Switched from velocity mlt to this. The difference is phenomenal!!! With velocity I had minimal control and spin. Now it feels like cheating. My balls go to the direction I want most of the times with massive amounts of spin. Feel is better as well but not to the point that I want. It might be to the tension or the auxetic technology of my racket. But overall, wasabi mains and x on crosses is a fantastic choice for spin and control. Now I want to try o toro mains and wasabi x on crosses.
Nice, maybe you are like me and get a large sense of your control by how much shape you can put on the ball via spin? If you want more traditional feel without sacrificing that spin you get from Wasabi (which is insane, right?) you can/should O-Toro. I think it will generally always get better touch/feel than Wasabi and spin levels seem the same. They actually rank higher for o-toro but I personally can't tell. Let me know sometime if you try o-toro mains and if you like that better!
Currently considering Zero / O Toro at 48 / 46 in Ezone 98 as per advice from ChatGPT. Do you think this hybrid will bring some more life to this frame which came stock with muted PTP? If so, what tension would you recommend? Cheers
Interesting way to get a suggestion! Hmm, I bet it would actually pair pretty nicely. I think quite a few options can be nicer than PTP. Zero and ENSO, Zero and Wasabi X (I really liked in the Ezone at 48) Lmk what you try! It can be a relatively muted frame, though. Never had much feel with an EZONE.
Is there a toroline string you would recommend as a cross to natural gut in the mains? Would you still go with Wasabi X or Enso Pro, or is that too much power?
Both of those would be my answer. I guess you should go with Wasabi X if power is your concern. Sync from ReString is also a good choice. What is your reason for using gut if not the power? The comfort?
Otoro feels so good by itself. It’s my fave so far. I’m trying toro toro because it comes in pink. Has anybody used toro toro and o toro? Also tried the k pop. Wasn’t my cup of tea
I will try it in a full bed soon! I just have such a hang-up about shaped crosses but I can look past that, somewhat. I bet someone here has tried that combo. That neon green isn't always my favorite. More a sucker for pinks than greens. I bet toro-toro is nice in the crosses.
Hmm well k-pop mixes square with a hexagon, right? I think that hybrid is weird tbh. I really wouldn't judge much about anything from that hybrid, it is such a particular choice of strings together haha. Try that full bed and lmk? I doubt you'll hate it and I bet you like it a fair bit more than kpop
What do you think it should cost? It's a very good string. Isn't Lux like 300? I would choose this over Lux any day, even at the same price. Hopefully you aren't letting pro endorsements and price dictate quality!
Hey man, you need to get ahold of some MSV Bussard (register an account with W&D Strings out of the UK, and order through them for less). It's straight up one of the best ultra-slick AND crisp AND controlled crosses, period. Right on par with anything from Toroline in my opinion, except a way more connected/solid feel. Especially good for taming powerful mains, such as gut and non-poly's. I get that some of these newer-school companies are all the rage right now, but there are still some older small outfits out there who continue to make killer strings, especially on value, and MSV is certainly one of them.
Nice, I can get that. So you are saying it's snapback should be on par, eh? I might take your word for it and see for myself. I'm careful to waste my time though as I often get suggestions that are not even worth comparing but this is a string I don't know and your comment seems pretty specific and confident. I'm a bit more inclined to take it seriously.
@@ZeroLoveTennis I've personally tested Wasabi-X in the crosses for a few different setups, and Bussard is more firm per unit gauge for sure, and definitely more crisp. As for slickness, it's very close. Like, extremely close. One thing I'm not quite yet sure of is if that slickness as as permanently-lasting as Was-X, but at least for a good chunk of hours, it's right there with it. I'm pretty confident on that much at least. Not sure if that's enough to push you over the hump, but hope that helps.
@@ZeroLoveTennis Nice. They're geared towards selling to stringers and racquet sports professionals, but they're also pretty open and welcoming in general, so I've experienced anyways. I would hope you'd be a shoe-in, for sure!
Hey. I have played O-toro full bed and was thinking of hybridsing with Enzo-pro. Have you perhaps compared the two? Any other comments or other Hybrids with o-torro. I have done O-torro + sync and is good. Curious about enzo instead. Thanks for your times
I've been a long-time Wasabi/Wasabi-X hybrid user (if there is such a thing as 'long-time' for these ;) ). I then tried O-Toro and am not a fan of how soft that feels in comparison. Too squishy for me. Of course, YMMV. Edit: need to try it with Wasabi X 👍
@@ZeroLoveTennis I do use a dampener on all setups. As I edited above - I need to try O-Toro just on the mains with Wasabi X in crosses. I went from the Wasabi hybrid to full bed of O-Toro and that's where I felt it was too soft for my liking. Perhaps I'll have a different opinion with it just in the mains.
What are your thoughts on replacing wasabi for o toro in k pop hybrid? What changes would you expect? Seems like a good upgrade on k pop considering wasabi holds less tension than o toro, no?
I think it has less feel, actually. Currently, Wasabi has taken a backseat to O-Toro for sure. It's more durable than toro-toro so between those two, I might have a harder time deciding but with O-Toro now, it's an obvious choice for me. Looking forward to more colors to come!
Considering Zero / Wasabi X in Blade 98 V8 at 48/46. I understand you have strung this before but what is your view on this setup in a control racket? Looking for more power, spin and launch from a racquet that offers plenty control. Cheers
I think it's a good idea! I'd consider them at the same tension, though. Wasabi X is softer and a bit more elastic. Feel free to go lower, if you like, but it will already be as if you did. Always depends a bit on what you're coming from but I never do Wasabi X lower in crosses with Zero mains. I always did same or higher.
Oh that's funny. But also kind of what I experienced. Like the string wouldn't leave the bed in time. It just stayed on for so long. But I don't feel that way if it's just in crosses.
I think the criticism is that these influencer strings are cheap and mass produced but have good viral marketing: hence "influencer". They use the same factories as other brands which produce in Taiwan like Mayami, Tru Pro, etc. They don't do traditional R&D because its too expensive. Bigger players like Solinco do real R&D.
That's a more interesting criticism but I still feel like toroline strings perform better in the ways I care about. Hyper G and Tour Bite still break on me and fade in performance notably within a few hitting sessions. Does anyone know what the r&d is like for these big players? I know RPM blast was a shelved string from the guy who started ytex. I also know the strings are priced to make up for the marketing costs. It's hard to know how much of the string comes from expensive and good r&d vs just expensive player contracts and advertising especially when they all break so early in comparison. You'd think other companies not blowing money on advertising could focus money more on the product.
@@ZeroLoveTennis What are you thoughts on the differences between O-Toro or Restring Zero on the mains? Currently using zero in the mains, but am curious about how O-toro compares whether it has more spin, power, or feel. Appreciate it!

That, and I honestly think these strings just blow that stuff out of the water. I'd prefer these regardless of the marketing.
Good on you for trying new things! It's worth the journey just for the fun or the gems you find and maybe share. That's what I do but I really enjoy it.
do you think you could do a more in-depth review of the absolute string?
We'll see if I get around to it. What interests you about it?
Would you pair Wasabi X with O Toro or is O Toro good enough to just be a full bed by itself?
I always try to pair with a round cross but you can totally do a full bed of o-toro by itself!
It will be interesting to compare best round shape strings - Sync vs oToro.
What do you think?
o-Toro is hexagonal though! Did you mean another string?
Tru pro pure rush is my best of both worlds string
Yet to try. I haven't tried anything since they changed names from tier 1. What's great about it? How's the snapback? I gotta ask haha
@ZeroLoveTennis snapback is very good but in types of feel is more like a round string it's crisp but not as much as zero and its less powered more controlled with zero i need to give more topspin in my swing otherwise it launches easy
Nice, would you say it's better in terms of snapback? I get very curious when anything comes close, I have to see for myself.
Zero and ENSO, Zero and Wasabi X (I really liked in the Ezone at 48)
Lmk what you try!
@
I meant I was gonna try toro toro on its own. I don’t like the shaped strings in the crosses either lol
I think I found I don’t like the shaped mixes when I tried k pop
Hmm well k-pop mixes square with a hexagon, right? I think that hybrid is weird tbh. I really wouldn't judge much about anything from that hybrid, it is such a particular choice of strings together haha.
Try that full bed and lmk? I doubt you'll hate it and I bet you like it a fair bit more than kpop
O-toro is $100 for HALF of a reel. That's wild. What are their margins like? They must be raking in the cash.
I reached out to em
@@ZeroLoveTennis Nice. They're geared towards selling to stringers and racquet sports professionals, but they're also pretty open and welcoming in general, so I've experienced anyways. I would hope you'd be a shoe-in, for sure!
btw just got some on the way to me from MSV!
O-toro and Enzo pro (cross) user here loving toro line
I'd say you have good taste! Excited for my next bed of those two strings.
@ Omekase recommendation 😉
Hey. I have played O-toro full bed and was thinking of hybridsing with Enzo-pro. Have you perhaps compared the two? Any other comments or other Hybrids with o-torro. I have done O-torro + sync and is good. Curious about enzo instead. Thanks for your times
@ just used omekaze recommendation otoro mains with Enzo pro also otoro with super toro. Preferred the hybrid with the Enzo.
That's interesting! Do you use dampener? Any difference in feel?
@@ZeroLoveTennis I do use a dampener on all setups. As I edited above - I need to try O-Toro just on the mains with Wasabi X in crosses. I went from the Wasabi hybrid to full bed of O-Toro and that's where I felt it was too soft for my liking. Perhaps I'll have a different opinion with it just in the mains.
That is funny though because I'd tell people that wasabi pro hybrid is quite soft haha maybe stiffness is subjective sometimes.
What are your thoughts on replacing wasabi for o toro in k pop hybrid? What changes would you expect? Seems like a good upgrade on k pop considering wasabi holds less tension than o toro, no?
I think that's actually better setup! o-toro wasn't a thing when K-Pop came to be, I believe. I wonder if it was, if Karue would have opted for that.
@ thats what im thinking, thats why I thought Id ask.. Do you see any benefits in keeping wasabi? More feel or whatever? Or is it just a worse otoro?
I think it has less feel, actually. Currently, Wasabi has taken a backseat to O-Toro for sure. It's more durable than toro-toro so between those two, I might have a harder time deciding but with O-Toro now, it's an obvious choice for me.
Looking forward to more colors to come!
@ thanks, helps a lot in figuring out what to try once I get a chance
Do you use wasabi x on crosses with the same tension than the mains?
Usually same or a little higher. Generally not lower.
I thought snapper lowered the general launch angle too much. I didn't like it...
Oh that's funny. But also kind of what I experienced. Like the string wouldn't leave the bed in time. It just stayed on for so long. But I don't feel that way if it's just in crosses.
Not a Snapper fan either, but I thought it was a trampoline
You'd think other companies not blowing money on advertising could focus money more on the product.
brudda i need one that maxed for spin, whats your recomendation?
With Wasabi X or Enso Pro in the crosses (namely maybe pink or yellow) I highly suggest O-Toro mains or ReString Zero.
@@ZeroLoveTennis What are you thoughts on the differences between O-Toro or Restring Zero on the mains? Currently using zero in the mains, but am curious about how O-toro compares whether it has more spin, power, or feel. Appreciate it!
@@hdjs94i have played zero + sync and O-torro + sync. Both very good. O-torro little more predictable + control. Zero little more power. I am curious to replace sync with enzo
@@ZeroLoveTenniswhat about a mains o-torro + zero in crosses? Just for a fun power spin option?
K Pro is awesome
I'm glad you like! It's not my style but I can see why some would like it.
Usual paid promotional video by these second rate cheap low quality crappy brands
Have you tried their strings yourself ? I have and they’re VERY good.
Strings are very good as far a SnapBack I think the problem is feel. If they (Toroline) can fix that would be amazing!
I think he's just in love with everything tennis and this is his obsession. How much can he really be getting? You're overreacting over some coins 😂
o-Toro is a good feel poly, I think.
Definitely not everything. Just a select few things. You'll rarely hear me talk about other strings with much enthusiasm.
