  • In this video Lindy Fralin personally demonstrates a set of his Twangmaster pickups against a set of his P-92 pickups. The guitars used were a PRS Santana SE model and a "parts guitar" Strat. This demo was recorded using a V.V.T. Lindy Fralin model combo amp, rated at 38w and featuring 1-15" Eminence speaker. The mic used was a Sennheiser 609 which was draped in front of the amp, although the lavalier mic that Lindy is wearing is picking up some of the ambient sound from the room.

These pickups sound great and what an upgrade for those SE guitars, they are awesome the way they come from the factory but love me the P90 style sound over a standard PAF type pickup!! Keep up the good work Lindy, I'll need to get a part time job to replace all my gear with your pickups, a good problem - trust me!

Great video Lindy! I'm building a tele thinline and trying to get out some Starcaster sounds of it. Which pickup will you recomend for that sound, P92 or Twangmaster? I want get some nice crunchy tones of it also. Thanks!

Thanks Lindy! I'll go with P92 then. What value of pots do you recommend for the P92? Thanks again

Great tone from the Twangmasters! From the video it seemed that you demoed the neck pickup alone, and then the bridge pickup alone. Could you tell me what the pickups sound like together?I Is it a standard Tele middle position sound? Thanks! :)

Hi Lindy, can you make either the P-92's or Twangmasters with the pole pieces reverse staggered? So the pole pieces for the wound strings are now further away from the neck and those for the plain strings are closer to the neck? I'm just wondering if that would make the plain strings sound more fat and the wound strings more twangy/tight. Thanks

@FralinPickups i love the idea of a p-92 at 8000 in the neck it would be perfect!! personally i would probably still prefer the twangmaster for the bridge, how many rotations would you recommend for it?

what pots and cap do you recomend for this pickups, i've ordered a pair of p-92 and i am hesitating about to put 500k , 300 or 250k pots, and tha same with the caps 22 or 47.
Maybe in the future i'll order another pair of twangmasters, and i would like to take the advantage of asking you if the same configuration would work the best for them?
    Kind Regards from spain

@brownbigb I'm thinking about doing the same thing with my bluesboy, steelpole in the bridge and p92 in the neck. Mainly I'm trying to get a hotter output with less microphonic feedback, and a bigger sound in general. I'm leaning towards the p92 for the neck because I figure if I want bright I can switch to the bridge. What are your thoughts on the steelpole 43, is it significantly hotter than stock? Have you made a choice between the twangmaster or p92?

@FralinPickups just to clarify, in the neck would you recommend the overwound twangmaster or the underwound p-92 (like you have in the strat)? i am looking for a nice keith richards sound in the neck i know he used the wide-range in some of his teles, i would generally love to come as close as i can to the original telecaster deluxe sound, which pickups and windings would be the most appropriate?? also how much is shipping to australia? cheers! :)

hi Lindy, is that 'twagmaster' based on the original fender wide-range pickups used in their older deluxe and custom tele models? for my own tele deluxe project im considering a twangmaster in the bridge and for the neck id like a slightly fatter sound, would you recommend the p-92n? also, what is the difference in tone between an underwound p-92 and an overwound twangmaster? cheers, i love your demos they are helpful :)

    Hi Lindy,
I play a two-humbucker Strat currently, and am replacing my pickups with some of your models. I use my bridge pickup for only overdriven sounds, and my neck pickup for all clean tones. I have absolutely decided on a Pure PAF for the bridge, and love the sound of your Twangmaster for neck. What winding on a Twangmaster would best match a Pure PAF bridge in terms of treble and output? I know that one likes 250k pots, one likes 500k...can I run the Pure PAF with a 250k? Adam F.

Twangmasters sound like what I'm looking for.. any thoughts on how a twangmaster in the bridge might sound paired with a Charlie Christian style neck pickup? I play alot of rockabilly, early rocknroll, some jazzy picking sometimes too.. Not sure if the twangmaster would have enough output to balance with it? (thinking along the lines of tele's with a tele bridge pickup and CC in the neck spot..)
    Thanks!

I love the feel of my Gibson ES-335TD but want a more single coil, jangly sound. Which pickups should I put on my 335 if I want that Rickenbacker sound and how many turns on each pickup?

Hi Lindy, with either the Twangmaster or P-92, is the output more or less consistent on the g string when you do big (2-1/2 steps) bends and move it pass its pole piece?
    Especially on the neck pickup?
    Thank you!

    Hi Lindy,
I have an Eastman AR371 Archtop, single humbucker neck position, and want one of your P92's for it. This is the Eastman ES175 clone.
How many turns do you suggest for it?
These pups sound great on this vid, very clear and articulate, much better than a humbucker, I feel, for clarity.
    Thanks!
