    Little homie this is a trap allot of us fall into as young men starting a business. Charging people what you feel is your hourly worth instead of what it takes to run your business. I'm glad you noticed it early. Fixing it takes a time and courage because you don't want to hit people with a big price increase but every quarter to 6 months to get those prices up until you're comfortable that you could hire somebody to do that work and you still make enough money. I understand everyone's situation is different and I'm no business guru but when you're doing good work you need to understand that they're not paying you as an employee they're hiring you as a business

      Exactly bro , just trying to adjust with the economy as well . There’s no way I can thrive charging what I do. My skills are getting better so I feel as if I should be charging more , so that’s definitely in the works . Appreciate the kind works though bro

      @@Businessmankam add small services to even your basic maintenance washes. Upsell everything, the sealant part, wheel and tire detail, leather dressing and protectant, recommend a polish or wax. Just make them sound really good and beneficial and it's easy to get them onboard with the add-ons. Check out other detailer's websites to see how they explain their services to get some ideas on the wording. Buy a bundle of small air fresheners ( like the wafers) throw one in after each wash and that will help the customer notice their freshly cleaned ride. When their friends get in and ask about the smell that's free word of mouth advertising for you. Good luck bro wish you nothing but success.

    • @spiderpimp33
      @spiderpimp33 Рік тому

      @@drejones675 Yeah, I agree. I’m in Metro ATL and do this in my spare time a few times per month (my choice because I have a FT career with a state agency). I charge $40 for a basic exterior wash for small/medium cars and $60 for medium large vehicles. It usually takes less than an hour for that. If they want a light vac & wipe down on the interior, I add another $20-$30 to it depending on the condition. They all tip too.
      But, keep in mind, I only do this for a lil extra pocket change and to stay busy. Plus, they all live close by.

    I’ve been following cam since the beginning. 1 thing I did with my detailing business was remove all the packages. Basically if you honestly sit and think about it, you’re doing a full detail every time you touch a car. Well I know I do. That’s why I removed packages and just been rolling with the full details and add one are the wax & sealants, Ceramic coats etc. interior add on would be carpet and seat shampoo. That’s how I adjust led mines a while back and it’s been booming ever since.

    To help with your chemical cost probably best to find a wholesale/detail specialty shop locally or online. When you’re buying in bulk from them and establish an account with them most often your cost on the chemicals is less. Every now and then you’ll find some one off deals on Amazon and it beats having to make time to go to your local supplier. Another thing to do is talk to guys at your local car dealerships in make ready. They’re good sources of info and probably could help you with locating a distributor locally that won’t burn you.

      Yes do not listen to these people. 300.00 is way to much. I have been in this business for years.

      @@timothyhedstrom6548 Read the comment before replying bud. I wasn’t saying to charge $300 for his services. I was simply making a point of how an hour of work is worth more than $25 when you are self employed. Because after fuel, insurance, & supplies etc, I dare say he lost money on that job.

      Yes. Ok. No problem. Yes people sell themselves short sometimes. We are kinda in a situation where our cost are higher but the customer is looking for the best deal. To many people are stretched thin In their finances. If I work and charge them 150 per hour and they only make 18.00 an hour it becomes a struggle for the home owner. I see a lot of people go out of business over selling their services. He should of done it for 50.00 bucks. HE would of made 50 plus kept the customer. NOW he lost 50 and probably lost the customer. REMEMBER it cost us money to gain a customer. Advertising and marketing cost a lot of money.

    This is a more real life example of what starting detailers go through especially at a young age. It's good your learning and I'm sure will be better for it. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders just bring up the sense of urgency and keep your positive attitude. It shows maturity that you're taking the criticism well and learning. Hope you keep doing well.

      You see gas prices?? $60 is nothing with everything going up gas/ supply’s. Then you have to add in drive time and taxes. Maintenance washes sometimes are more of a hassle then they’re even worth even at $60.
