      @@needleslinger5639 oh it's still pretty weak in ra3 to expensive for its low hp and firepower. It casually loses to all infantry and anti infantry vehicles and to vindicators and twinblades. They have a niche use in rushes as the mag mines deal substantial dmg to structures.

      he also seemed to have forgotten flak troopers can decimate infantry hortdes too with their splash damage though nobody cares about that since flak tracks do a better job anyways

      @@NeilRoy i still prefer the flak track but they indeed have their uses . And yeah they get veterancy really quick. Sure they do less dmg but this guy also apparantly forgot they get a double attack meaning they attack much more often meaning way more damage in reality. These guys decimate air units, infantry and especially paratroopers and rocketeers, and while flak tracks are in most regards better they have one huge advantage: they are way less vulnerable to tanks and planes than tracks are. I am not a huge fan of flak troopers but they can be of some use, but they just have the bad luck that the flak track is just better

    Chrono seals can make a superb companion to a legionnaire as they are normally weak to masses of cheap infantries. The deal can cover them while they erase that nice walled of con yard.

      Chrono Commando value increases when you combo it with Chronosphere for instant phaseshift and C4 on a building without the teleport lag

    Poor Soviets, taking up the majority of the bottom slots in this ranking. Their best infantry units are either shared with other factions (Engineer, Attack Dog), campaign/moon-based level exclusive (Cosmonaut), country exclusive (Desolator), or their hero unit in _Yuri's Revenge_ (Boris). Then again, it's not surprising; their riflemen are as basic as they come (only there via obligation), and their anti-air infantry are broken upon getting fully promoted! (Tesla Troopers are beneficial next to Tesla Coils, and a lot of fun and great in a Battle Fortress; but on their own, they are slow and don't have much use except against the entry-level tanks.) The Allies have the most variety with their infantry, and end up having the best units in that department altogether.
    I agree with most of these rankings, too. I think the Rocketeer could be bumped up to A-tier (seeing how great they are in a big pack); but other than that, great list!

      @@ivanmartinez9536 top 3 for soviets 1. S tier Rhino Tank. 2. A tier Flak track and 3. A Tier Terror drone. These 3 units I find make up the bread and butter of most soviet strategies on occasion though apocalypse tanks may take over the rhino tanks job but only if you have the cash flow to support such an expensive unit.
      The Allies I predict will have 2 S tier vehicles the Battle fortress and the IFV which are the 2 most versatile units in the game able to fulfil any combat role based on the infantry inside them. Oh and elite IFV have one of the most bullshit weapons ever. and then either prism and/or mirage tanks being A tier and of course Tank destroyers are F tier useless trash that would be good if it just had some actual armor.
      For Yuri his top Vehicles are of course magnetrons and masterminds with gatling tanks following close behind.

    I won't really debate this tier list, since it is made based on fights with the AI, and considering you can win most games against it without infantry, I don't think there is much point in arguing about which unit should be which tier. Regardless, I like this video format, the voice lines for each infantry unit were a nice touch too, keep up the good work.

      it clearly is not based on battle svs the ai mate, otherwise a lot more units would score better. this is PvP based and imo based on his own experiences with the units. any real pro player would have placed rocketeers and desolators in S tier.....

    I feel like GIs were seriously powerful in the original RA2. Enough of them would take down just about anything.
    I think YR levelled it out a bit.
    Also I feel an important role of Attack Dogs is stopping spies..

    Rocketeers, Desolators and probably Chrono Legionnaires should've been S in my opinion, since swarming a large group out of any of these units shine in so many strategies. Other than that, pretty accurate table. Paying respects to flakies.

      Desolators most certainly should be S Rank, their value extends far beyond their price; killing all infantry instantly, and hindering tank rushes easily; for an easily afforable price. A Single Desolator can shut down Rhino Rushes in Soviet Mirror Matches, stop most of Yuri's forces, and eliminate Allies GI paradrops with minimal threat if used right. They are a pressure unit, it's not so much what they do, but what they CAN do that makes people worried. They need to be used intelligently though, and are countered by Snipers and Rocketeers.
      Rocketeers also should be in S Rank, as they provide the Allies with a superb pressure option that far outweighs their weakness to anti-air. It doesn't matter if it's late game, or early game; Rocketeers offer a fantastic method to harass or pester key units; and forces the enemy to run anti-air units if they don't want a swarm of Rockies to just decimate whatever you send. If the enemy doesn't build Anti-Air units; Rocketeers will just waltz right in, and start shooting up whatever they want.
      Chrono Legionnaires are more A-A+ rank imo, while their abilities can be quite superb; they are more suited to sneak ambushes; since if the enemy commander is paying attention; a Chrono Legionnaire won't be able to do anything. Honestly, their best value is probably the ability to phase your own buildings out temporarily to defend against a Weather Storm, Nuke or Psychic Dominator; to prevent heavy damage (though your timing needs to be perfect to do it right).

      I agree on Desolators and Rocketeers, because they force the opponent to alter their plans. Chrono Legionnaires, as much as I love them, don't really do that.

      i do not agree on chrono legionaires since they are very expensive and fragile to many things and utterly sitting ducks while removing stuff from history. i do agree on rocketeers and desolators though!! they should be s rank since they are better than GIs and reduce GIs to corpses without any sort of effort

      but you see liberators require support from other units to do their area denial. Desolators fly solo and do the job even better as most units will melt instantly inside their zone of control. While a liberators will likely trade poorly with anything by itself and can only target a rather small area. and again is pretty helpless by itself.

    Yuri prime is so OP. It should be S++. I had navy, tanks and erything else captured by one Yuri prime from ra2. It can multi mind control, so my 20 dreadnaughts were captured before they managed to shoot single shot, including supporting submarines and scorpions.

    7:30 Enabling Waypoint Mode and assigning targets for Chrono Ivan to attack will make him one of the fastest-attacking units in the game, especially if all the targets are within a short distance from him, so the cooldown from each teleportation is minimal.

    G.I. is surely overrated. Boris should be higher than Tanya in general while considering actual field wars. Deso could be S tier. Rocketeers could move to A.

      I wouldn't call the GI overrated at all. Even in online matches it can be a devastating force when garrisoned. If you can manage to get 5 elite G.I.'s try loading them on a battle fortress they will melt almost anything in your way. Plus they are relatively cheap units and America is popular specifically for the ability to drop a mere 8 of them anywhere you want for free. Strictly speaking against the Ai though since they follow predictable attack patterns and routes to your base. Gather a few gi and ggi at critical spots along side some defenses like prism towers and you can hold off all kind of attacks. They are also pretty decent for a mobile anti ground unit inside an IFV. In Multiplayer which is ruled by tank wars mostly they mostly see use as the america support power or for their garrison ability.

      GIs are not overrated. There's a reason why in the code the America's GI Paratrooper from Airforce HQ is coded as a superweapon aside from the simplicity.
      Most of the infantries in this lists weaknesses are vehicles and GI absolutely demolishes vehicles along with Guardian GIs and being effective against infantries. My own personal ranking is that Tg's is very accurate because since GGIs are already good on their own, 2 GIs for the same cost with a slightly higher total HP pool with advantage against infantry and can be garrisoned is a big advantage in Vanilla RA2 or YR.
      In Online skirmishes where you play as a defensive Allied, you will generate $1200 worth of infantry every 4 minutes which is brutal against low tier attacking vehicles and will eventually win the long run due to impenetrable ground defenses against low tier units. Not to mention they are easy to promote and easily out DPS pillboxes. GIs are high risk high reward unit, but the reward often times is so overwhelming that they can wreck havoc against structures for the same cost of a single Prism Tank AND survives against Rhino Tanks.

      @@defaulted9485 As far as Garrisons go, GIs are outclassed by Initiates. Initiates have more than DOUBLE the DPS of GIs while garrisoned. Initiates are also mostly the same effectiveness against both Infantry and Vehicles at the same cost of the GI without needing to deploy, which means they can also scatter easily. If GIs should be at the top of S-Tier, than Initiates should at least be right behind them. But they really shouldn't be in S-tier, because GIs really shouldn't be in S-Tier either lol.

    Soviet's supposedly weaker at infantries but have stronger vehicles, but then there's Allies' mirage and prism, and to add salt to the wound they also get battle fortress in YR too :\.

      the irony I find is Yuri has the best fodder type unit in the game (the brute) and only because its immune to dogs. Tesla troopers would easily be better just by virtue of being able to contribute to your army's damage in a tank battle if only they couldn't be made into dog chow so easily. Mental Omega really shows what tesla troopers should be capable of imo.

    I somewhat agree. Chrono Ivan can be as almost as deadly as the Chrono Commando. They can plant their bomb that can cause an area damage which will damage around him and teleport away, Crazy Iván deserves a better rank due to the splash damage.
    G.I. In S tear I disagree. I'd lower them a tier

    Tesla trooper in C-Tier? BS! Those MoFos used in large numbers will shred through basically anything, that is not specifically anti-infantry and even at that, they will cause serious damage! That is a solid A-tier unit!

      It is interesting how they decided to balance infantry in C&C3 as the sniper will 1 shot most non commando infantry but still takes time to kill even 1 infantry unit because of the squad mechanic. I also think there should have been more ways to replenish damaged squads besides just the gdi armory.

    From my experience in multiplayer, and singleplayer or vs. AI in parenthesis:
    Conscript: B (B)
    Simple Answer: Cheap, and Meat Shield/Canon Fodder. It forces Tank-on-tank engagements to be who manages the horde better because your tank's auto-attack will be drawn to the conscripts and not the enemy tanks. You may just even opt to run the conscripts over, but you run the gamble of taking in more DPS than necessary.
    SP/vs AI: Red Dawn and City of Lights
    GI: B (S)
    In multiplayer if you can set them up precarious locations they are deadly wall of DPS. But hence a lot of their strength costs them mobility. And if set up incorrectly, players will just drive past or around them.
    SP/vs AI: The AI does not know how to deal with them beyond using instakills or air units.
    Initiate: A (S)
    In multiplayer, they're lukewarm at best. They're biggest advantage is that their attack can hurt both armored and unarmored units equally, but they have the lowest range of all basic infantry and have no armor, like the GI.
    However, they get really useful in Garrisons(mainly because of an oversight that gives them more damage output than intended).
    SP/vs AI: Like the GI, the AI does not know how to handle dealing with Initiate Garrisons unless using Artillery or Air Units.
    Dogs: A (C)
    Really good early scouts with their vision range of 5 cells. Turns invincible when attacking because they temporary turn into a projectile. Also good later on as canon fodder.
    SP/vs AI: You only really build them because of spies. And it isn't too useful for scouting because the AI only really has 1 build order.
    Engineers: S (A)
    Pretty vital if there are capturable tech structures on the map. Getting Oil as soon as possible is great especially because you get your money back because of initial 1000 credit boost to whoever captures the Oil Derrick first. Machine Shops and Hospitals are great for unit survival.
    The Engineer rush is funny but mostly as a one-time gag against newer players.
    SP/vs AI: The Engineer loses its novelty against the AI because quite frankly the AI likes to wall off things in their base or even cheat to get a counter out (the Yuri AI is notorious for getting a Yuri Clone before Psychic Radar).
    Flak Trooper: D (D)
    Clown, you are a clown for using them.
    Severely outclassed by the utility of the Flak Track or Sea Scorpion's DPS on naval maps.
    Guardian GI: C (S)
    In multiplayer, they're a bit too slow as Anti-Armor. They're decent against Air Units but the IFV is just slightly better at dishing out DPS against Air.
    They get viable through IFVs though, giving you an answer to Rhinos that can attack from a safe range vs them.
    SP/vs AI: The GGIs seem stronger than they look especially with their introduction on the first allied mission on YR, kinda influencing why people new to online play are using them. No, they're just just flat out stronger in the campaigns just like how an Apocalypse Tank can be 2-shotted by a 2-link Prism Tower-this is only true in the campaign.
    Though in Skirmish, it's the same thing, the AI does not know to deal with GGIs beyond instakills.
    Tesla Troopers: C (D)
    Just like the GGI, they are a bit slow as an anti-ground potion. And they have abyssmal range. You can mitigate their slowness by using a Flak Track to get them where they need to be, but that's like same kind of strat involves Engineers, Crazy Ivans and, Terrorists. They can power up Tesla coils which is good I guess, but most of time leads to overkill which is wasted damage potential.
    SP/vs AI: Beyond City of Lights as a gimmick, the AI sees farther and will retaliate faster because the AI always has vision on the entire map.
    Brute: B (D)
    Yuri's equivalent to the Dogs, a scout. It is also immune to other dogs but is a bit slower. A deployed GI is their bane if approached from the wrong direction, and they don't have the luxury of turning into a projectile when attacking.
    Rarely used for their anti-ground capabilities because it's a melee unit.
    SP/vs AI: Clown unit.
    Sniper: S (S)
    One of the best infantry in the game. Sure it, has 1 purpose but you can put them in IFVs and get an army of Elite IFVs(very strong) since experience gets credited to IFV.
    Virus: S (S)
    Same as the sniper's purpose above, just shorter range but with an AoE.
    Rocketeers: A (A)
    Rocketeer rush if you can pull it off. And even then a Cloud of Rocketeers is potent even against Flak.
    Cosmonaut: (S)
    Campaign only unit, has almost the same stats as a Rocketeer but fires ever so slightly faster. Plus there's an exploit how you can get more Cosmonauts than usual by building then selling a barracks.
    Terrorist: D (D)
    Clown. You are a clown for using them. Crazy Ivan outclasses them. There are niche cases that they can be used on, but that's what they are NICHE.
    Crazy Ivan: D (D)
    Same Tier has the Terrorist but slight better because they can be used for more than just one attack.
    SP/vs AI: It's a melee unit, see Brute for same problem.
    Desolator: S (S)
    King of Area Denial. With a decent Anti-ground weapon as well. The initial burst of radiation stacks damage. Only thwarted by Snipers, Virus or Air Units.
    Yuri Clone: C (A)
    Weird intermediary unit, use a Mastermind instead. Can detect spies. Yeah, this one's pretty situational. But can prove useful as a deterrent against armor columns.
    SP/vs AI: When used defensively, the AI has no idea of handling them, again kinda like the GI.
    Psi Commando: C (A)
    An expensive Yuri Clone that can destroy buildings... it's pretty eh.
    Spy: C (S)
    It's difficult to use thess guys on Human players who'd have Dogs, Psychic Towers and Yuri Clones running around their base.
    SP/vs AI: Because the AI has cheat money that's why infiltrating AI Refineries is very stronk.
    Navy Seal: A (A)
    Another way you can stack Elite IFVs, just in a less safe range. They have the additional ability of just blowing up buildings, and with IFVs, this can be used to dangerous effect.
    Chrono Legionnaire: A (C)
    Against unsuspecting human players they annoying to deal with. They also have niche use of destroying civilian buildings and tech structures without leaving rubble, making the area buildable.
    SP/vs AI: Depending on use case, they can be very powerful but most of the time they are caught by the AI's hyper-awareness.
    Chrono Ivan: B (A)
    Weird stolen tech unit. Weird applications. Not particularly the best at anything nor the worst.
    Chrono Commando: S+ (S+)
    The best... if you can get one for yourself. Being able to teleport, defends versus Infantry and just destroy buildings in a relatively quick fashion is pretty potent.
    Tanya: A (A)
    Just a more expensive Navy Seal but can deal with Armor.
    Boris: A (A)
    Same thing as Tanya really, but with longer range and slower DPS. His anti-armor capabilties only really shines when he's elite.
    The MiGs are a crapshoot on when they arrive. They can arrive either very late or almost instantly depending on map size and location on the map.
    Yuri Prime: S (S)
    An optional but, powerful addition to the Yuri Deathball strat.
    Yuri Prime(RA2): (S)
    Rare campaign-only unit found in Chrono Storm. It was obviously overpowered, being able to mind control over long distances.

    Rocketeer is S for me if you manage to rush him out early just one elite can tear conyard apart. C for late game if spammed brainlessly
    Seal is A if enemy (real person) player know his surrounding poorly and get all his base c4'd.
    Initiate is S on urban map as garrisoned one just burn everything in 2 seconds.
    Spy is B for me if you are against at least average player who know how to react.
    Dogs are A on early game scout D after that.
    Ivan & terrorist are of course D but they are S on fun to use if you have chronosphere.

    Desolators should be the S, with several desolators in one Flak track, it could ruin prism tanks no matter how many of them(number them and deploy them when the track is just destroyed). That are few ways to counter overwhelming prism tanks for soviet

    Hey tg, I've been watching all your videos and playing lots of missions repeatedly and I can say that I pretty much agree with this tier list. I think I'd put conscripts at B tier though. One time I tried doing a run of winning missions using only conscripts as an attacking unit. A bunch of them (30) can really do serious damage when attacking a base at once. And when you think about it, that's literally a cost of 3 rhino tanks. You wouldn't attack a base with just 3 tanks, you'd lose a trade. The only tedious part about conscripts is that it takes time to group them all together and you must maintain them in a crowd if you wish to take on any fight, but aside from that, they are really cost efficient units. Also navy seals can easily be A. Just keep one seal hidden in a base in case you need it, and when enemy attacks either with troops or ships it can really make a huge difference. I give A mostly because you don't need to micro them, few clicks and you clean everything up.

    Good list, but I think GI and Guardian GI should switch positions since anti tank is so crucial in the game. Guardian GI also turns Battle Fortress into arguably the best unit in the game.

    I'd change the following:
    Rocketeers to A: for how cheap and easy they are to get relative to their power. Only weakness is health.
    Cosmonauts to A: can't get them outside of campaign without mods; outside of campaign if you used the same strat vs rocketeers you can still easily dispatch them
    Tesla Troopers to B: 1. They're definitely better than conscripts 2. When used as short range defence (especially vs vehicles) they're pretty good. So long as you don't lead them in offense you can realize their potential

    That's true about flack troopers. They are preety useless. I don't remember using this troops except for the 3rd ra2 mission (big apple). They get promotion to be more useless. But the AI loves them a lot.

    Initiate vs GI - Depends on the map. On urban maps Initiate wins by far.
    Chrono Legionnaire isn't something I'd put on A Tier because he comes very late in the tech tree and is only good against unprotected bases.
    Yuri Prime is way too high. Far down the tech tree and only good for soloing unprotected bases.

    The Soviet infantry units cannot be compared with the allies no matter in power or numbers, that's unfair. The terrorist and crazy Ivan are useless units in game, even the flak trooper is weaker than the rocketeer.

    Hm.. I have a couple of points:
    1. Chrono commando in my opinion should be tier S. Coupled with fake attack with tanks, pre-planned attack (waypoints system) is devastating to any base, and it happens in mere couple of seconds, making it virtually undefendable. No other infantry unit can do this, and with such efficiency.
    2. Ivan has a crazy morph ability with IFV where IFV becomes a suicide vehicle basically; chrono-ivan + IFV version is even more deadly, consider similar tactics to chrono commando. However, morphing with IFV requires you to have both allied and soviet mcv. I would move Crazy Ivan to C, and Chrono Ivan to B.

    Hmm, G.I. should be A-tier, while Initiate should be S-tier.
    Navy SEAL should be A-tier, though I'm not sure if Yuri Clone should truly be on B-tier or move to A-tier.
    Tanya does deserve to be on A-tier, but to be honest, her Elite promotion gives her auto healing... you should know that, tg-sacred.
    As expected, Allies win on Infantry... now, who's going to rule on Vehicles, Air, Naval, and Buildings/Defenses? Also, please do more of these tier lists for other C&C games, not to mention HoMM 2 and 3.
    10:13: Hey, at least you can scare our air power away. Also, you can take down those V3 missiles if you're grouped with fellow gulag mates, if you can catch my drift.

    What about mental omega?
    Flak trooper seemed to be buffed in RA2YR (still trash) like flak trucks, but what really allow them on doing their time is in RA3.
    Flak units will also cause fdly fire, there no way to rank them higher then C

    I'd like to provide some of my own thoughts of how I would change some of these rankings, let me know what you guys think. :)
    GIs are great and all, but they are not that great. They are a bit more expensive than Conscripts so they can't quite perform the same jobs that a Conscript can, and they don't have as big of a damage output garrisoned in structures as Initiates do (at least in the base game, I think Initiates have a bit lower DPS in CNCNet but I think they are still the best to garrison). Top of A Tier at max.
    Desolators are definitely the best infantry in the game hands down, they're a Tesla Trooper on steroids that is only slightly more expensive. They rip infantry apart and dish out by-far the best damage against vehicles that any infantry can do due to their deploy function. Top of S tier, no doubt about that in my mind.
    Rocketeers are literally the second-best infantry in the game, being a cheap Barracks-produced air unit with absurd damage output even dedicated anti-air can struggle to deal with them before dying. You really cannot underestimate the fact that they are built out of the Barracks, this means they are not sucking up any production time out of your Factory and thus you can make crazy air-based counter attacks without having to sacrifice any production time. Being an Air Unit also makes the Rocketeer virtually immune to almost all normal anti-infantry threats and requires your enemy to force out lots of anti-air defense that they almost surely do not want. Rocketeers can LITERALLY win you games singlehandedly. Should definitely be mid to high A tier.
    Conscripts are way more solid than that. They are so ridiculously cheap and easy to mass-produce and are a key part of any major push against an Allied or Yuri player especially if you ditch or leave your Desolators at home to defend. If Allied DON'T throw SEALs into their Battle Fortresses, the Conscripts will inflict HUGE damage, but if they do that's less GGIs they can put in them, so literally just the fear that Conscripts exist force Allied players to play differently from what they'd like. Or, more-so in the case of Vs AI, this isn't even a factor because they rarely use units like SEALs anyway and thus Conscripts have mostly free reign to begin with. Due to their cheapness and being an infantry unit they also heavily hardcounter two of the main advantages Yuri players have, Mind Control and Magnetrons. Should be at least mid to low B tier I think.
    Tesla Troopers also tend to be undervalued. They can dish out some seriously nasty damage to both tanks and infantry at probably the fairest price in the game for a dedicated anti-tank infantry. GGIs may become uncrushable when deployed, but Tesla Troopers have that by default and GGIs still don't get tank damage until deployed and are immobile unless you stick them in a Battle Fortress. The Tesla Trooper has no such downsides and is only slightly more expensive. Definitely at least low A tier.
    Brutes are like literally almost totally useless, and definitely the least-powerful infantry in the game. At least Flak Troopers can DO damage to the thing they are suppose to hardcounter, air, but Brutes can't even catch up to most tanks like Grizzlies or Rhinos. The only thing that makes them strong is the Genetic Mutator, but that's really more-so the Genetic Mutator's strength and not the Brute's strength. They definitely should be D Tier.
    I also want to say that Yuri Prime is a bit of a strange one to rank. It's by-far the most fragile and temperamental commando to use. I think S tier works, but I would be more willing to say it's too quirky to be rankable, not to say that it isn't good but its one of the more nuanced units in the game that judging a raw objective strength value for is tricky to maybe impossible, because it depends on a lot of weird factors. It could achieve effectively infinite strength or none at all.

    One thing that I would complain about this list is how rocketeers should've been at S tier. They are the second most favorite infantry for the allies besides GIs. And combine then with barrack-infiltrating spy to gain veteran rockies, they are unstoppable.
    Sure they are weak in low numbers and get wrecked by flaks if you're not careful, but their reliability is undeniable.
    Other than that this list is quite good. Still rip to the flak guys

      GI are actually pretty useful, though most of the time you don't have a reason to train them though.
      Garrison to hold important places are pretty self explanatory.
      The are essentially mobile pillboxes, and can be moved to hold choke points to deny enemy scouts (pvp), also can be used later to counterpush, unlike pillboxes which just mostly sits there mostly.
      BF garrisoned with GI is actually pretty good, they can take down building pretty fast,wat tankier, but at a closer distance. Could be combined with BF GGIs+chronosphere for mayhem

    I can see the logic how they are rated, but I have to disagree. You need to factor in market price. Tesla Troopers and Brutes would have been in C-grade have they not cost 500 apiece. The SEAL for that reason would be on par with Tanya simply because of his adjusted cost. The SEAL is in no way in the same tier as Dogs. GIs are on par with Initiates, they are both in S-grade or A-grade. I can see why you put GIs above, but Initiates have 2 situational perks: double up as power for bio reactors and their garrison-weapon. Sure you can argue GIs can be used in bio reactors too but Initiates are more readily available for that purpose. The Desolator is S-tier. Spy is not S-tier despite his potential and uses. Same thing, Engineers are too high up even though they're awesome especially in IFVs for Allies.
