Jeff, that is right, but the employers will never pay you what you are worth, so you are better off being in business for yourself, but no college teacher you that skill at all.

This guy hit the nail on the head when he mentioned experience. When you graduate from college, you have no experience. So, these jobs that require some type of experience is crazy. Scam!
I believe Students should be free to choose their courses and build their own curriculum. We all know what we want from college. There is simply NO program that matches our expectations. College forces us into a path dictated by a curriculum that is constantly being remodeled to meet their business expectations. These guys should really look at job postings out there and amend their curricula based on the requirements.
It does not have to be complicated. All they need to do is study a sample of job ads per field and redefine their courses however they will never do this for 2 reasons 1. America is too liberal 2. Most of the people in charge of education are in their 60s. If we had more young blood at the top things would change, but for now I will just sit back and keep posting these videos for everyone's enjoyment!!! Thanks for watching!!
handballroller You sir are a genius. I believe colleges and universities should allow the students to choose whatever courses they want. All 40 of them or whatever number it is. Except for a few that should be mandatory like math and English.
eugene680 I completely agree!! Also it would be nice if you got the option to take these classes later in your college career. Let me start with some electives to determine my path first. Thanks for watching share with your friends!!
handballroller Let me continue. As you mentioned, most people attend post secondary to find themselves. My opinion is they only end up choosing careers which are in high demand which they absolutely hate. They only saw three things when choosing the career: six-figure salary, high employment rate and job security. Passion was never one of them.
Have you been stalking me for the past 5 years?? HAHA just kidding, you are absolutely right. I am not regretting the career path I chose I just think that students as a whole are extremely misinformed. Even these "high demand, high paying" fields arent as high demanding and paying as the universities make them out to be. I heard a mother telling her son on the bus last week, "just go to college and study what makes you happy". This is fine until their loan payments start to come due. In life there is a tradeoff between passion and practicality, I just advocate full disclosure and at minimum satisfactory preparation when you pay thousands for a service.
Back when college was more affordable, yeah, back in the 1970s, plenty of hippies in college found themselves, while smoking pot and dodging the draft. To answer your question, unless you come from a rich family and spending $60k is a drop in the bucket, then no.
Couldn't agree with you more man. As a college student, I feel like most of my classes have nothing to do with my accounting major, which is thousands of dollars wasted. I agree that College should be two years and college students should be able to just take classes related to their major.
As a college graduate who has a Bachelor's degree, I couldn't agree more! College is not fully preparing students for the real world. Finding a job today after graduating college is not the same as it was during the 70s, 80s, and 90s. It's all politics now. It's who you know/who knows you and your work experience. As you also stated in your video, you go on a company's website to look at their qualifications of employment and it says, "Bachelor's degree in _____________" and "3-5+ years of experience." It makes me laugh because it says "Entry Level Position." Uh...Earth to employers, it is NOT ENTRY LEVEL POSITION if you're asking for 3-5+ years of experience! It blows my mind away, because by their logic in order to get experience you obviously need a job, but in order to get these jobs you need to have a college degree. So how the hell do they expect us to get experience when we need to have a college degree. College today is an overpriced scam. A Bachelor's degree today is the new high school diploma and it's sad.
Good video. So true. Although college is not necessarily a scam, it is not for everyone. Unfortunately, people are being pressured into going to college, even if they do not have a clear plan of what they want to do. College is only for people who KNOW what they want to do AND the job they want requires the degree. For example: Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Engineer, etc. Otherwise, you are better off learning a trade and maybe getting a degree AFTER you have made a lot of money in your trade.
I agree. Although, it is still slightly a scam for people who actually should be there as well. There is no need for us to take general ed classes and waste that money in tuition. I would say the price is a scam as well but unfortunately that's just basic economics. Demand is high because of the easy access to loans so the price raises.
I totally agree with you man, same goes with psych classes. they make you take classes that talk about the same scientists and terms! I took psych in high school, yet they tell me I have to take a similar class in college! I passed in that class in high school with a good grade! college is turning into a business!
Read the book "Academically Adrift." It proves what the OP is saying. Two professors followed over 2300 students over a period of several years. Periodically, the subjects were tested to gauge how their critical thinking, writing and capacity to calculate were improving. After two years, over 40% of college students had shown no improvement. Four years later, over 30% were no better at those skills than when they started. And the improvement that was manifested was marginal at best. What the authors found out was that college was nothing but one big party, neither the institution nor students had any real expectations of doing difficult scholarship. Instead, it is a way to drain money from extremely ignorant and naive teenagers and their equally gullible parents.....
NerdGamer 274 , laugh my ass off! No, they don't. Most failed to reach their dreams, and so they trash junior and tell him that he's an idiot without college. This man is telling the truth.
@@infamouscrusader3363 , they're the first people to turn on junior. Danger often comes from one's own home, not the outside. Then again, misery loves company. Parents often want the kids to fuck up.
This guy gives good advice. College is not something to be totally avoided but it should only be considered when you really know what you want to do. There is a tremendous monetary (not to mention opportunity) cost from going to college/university. Such institutions are not going to care what you get out of your program, they only care to make money off the educational service they provide. Bottom line: Only go to college if you know it is required for what you want to do, that's it.
I truly believe there is a hell of a lot more going on "behind the curtains" of college. We need total transparency, but if we had it I think it would turn a hell of a lot of people off. Accounting is said to be a great field though...and it is pretty easy to see why haha. Maybe from your accounting skills you can analyze the scams?
I was analyzing it before I declared my major lol. Accounting just made the numbers more clear to me. Everyone else complains about it b/c of the cost which is legit, but I wanted to go beyond the cost and analyze the substance of what you actually get. Thanks for watching!!
Went to college in England, spent all my money I saved and came back broke. Thank God I only attended one term, learned fast that art college is a waste of time.
The labs- oh my gosh, you're so right! I work full time and I need to take 2 physics classes but they're like right in the middle of the day during opposite times of the week. How tf is anyone supposed to even make it to that one scheduled physics class?!
The jobs often don't exist. If they did, then everyone would find one, but most people whom I meet never have enough money, if any at all, due to the lack of any stable employment. Oh, forget the "college is good for being well-rounded" theories. Can you have that theory for dinner? Why do we keep falling for this scam? Falling into debt is nuts.
My biggest complaint with college is, like you said, I feel like nothing I'm learning is practical for my prospective career. I want to be an optometrist so the path I'm taking at my school is called "pre-optometry" but honestly nothing I've learned directly relates to working in that field. Sure, I have classes like biology, gen chem, o chem, etc. but none of it directly relates to optometry (at least what parts of it they teach us). I've learned more about the field volunteering at clinics and shadowing optometrists. And to top it all off I'm paying thousands of dollars to take all these irrelevant classes. It's not going to be until optometry school that I'll be learning anything practical and hands-on. I'm basically just paying to have some official sign off on my diploma at the end once I've already put in all the time, effort, and money. I think the post-secondary education system in the U.S. needs a massive overhaul
As a fellow accounting major who pretty much followed this very same path and came to the same point of view, this might be THE best video I've ever watched about the scam know as college! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took Jamaica buttfucking too! HAHAHAHAH! You DA man!
College is a joke. Instead of concentrating on courses for your career path, you have to take all the other 'crap' courses...ballroom dancing, etc. Instructors routinely cancel classes with just a note on the door but yet still collect their outrageous salaries. It's no wonder other countries are so far ahead of the US as far as education.
Very true. Taking a lot of classes you don t need, such a waste of time. All theory nothing practical also true. College is just a waste of time and money.
I said fuck no to college. now i make well over 100k a year. you don't need college peroid. all you need is work ethic and say no to paying interest and borrowing whenever u can. enough said. start a business if you want to have it all.
@XxFoxMotoX3xX | How did you begin to run a dealership? How does one go about doing that or starting a business? I have no experience with dealerships or starting businesses at all but am interested in it.
Like me i am self taught in Adobe photoshop and Illustrator and i am always learning from them using tutorials on youtube. And also its not just parents that pressure you, i had this lady at work last night telling me to go to school again when i am busy working, and what i want to learn which is basically graphic design i am learning it on MY OWN, i graduated from my community college last year with no debt thankfully. So no i am not going to waste time and money to go to school again so my hours be cut just for school and have a useless degree and have to pay back a school again so no thank you and she thought i was young like 18 or 19 when i did not tell her i am 27.
Here's a thought. Is it possible for someone to get straight As in high school, awarded a few scholarships, graduate with a 4 year degree but at the end, all they get out of it is an entry level job that they hate. Is this possible?
eugene680 this isnt even the worst situation. Try the 50% of graduates who had As and graduated and still work in mcdonalds. Your scenario is exactly what happened to me. I graduated with a 3.8, got my CPA and just enter invoices in a system all day, the same job my grandmother with no HS diploma does.
handballroller So basically all that late night studying, memorizing facts and dates, extra curricular activities, acing every exam, getting a lot of scholarships and graduating with a degree. All that just for an entry level job that they hate? Wow! Post secondary is not worth it.
College for many is a big waste of time. We be learning from people who don't even have experience in their so called field of expertise. Learning business from someone who never had a business or was never closely working with a business. Colleges charge students too much $ to have no obligation or no standard to hold them to. They should be using their resources helping you find jobs and careers. If I had a reset button I wouldn't go to college. I would be friends with people who go to enjoy the social life for free.
For those wanting to "do college" differently, you should check out the EBook "College out of the Box"! (and the FB page) My son was able to do college and high school together with NO student debt (a total of only about $3,000) from an accredited long distance college. Never had to step foot on a campus, NO debt, no wasted time! It works for adults wanting to get their degree, high school students who want to earn a few credits to transfer in to their choice school or the way my son did it! For sure, college is a HUGE business- don't let your kids start off life in debt or without the needed skills!
I'm in my 4th year at community college and I think it's time for me to quit. I can't afford to go to university because I'm my parents are in higher tax bracket. Plus I am not trying to pick up non-subsidized loans and or pay 3k a semester out of pocket just to a uni. What sucks is my generation doesn't even talk about why college is a scam financial wise. I'm barely hitting my major class btw in my 4th year lol. I don't why I'm staying there for so long, I guess I have indoctrinated this false perseverance into believing that one day ill graduate, but in reality I'm just getting my money taken away.
Thanks for the video. I can't fathom accounting majors not learning any practical skills while in school. The majority of majors don't teach you anything practice they only force you to regurgitate facts but careers that offer an actual service to society like accounting, nursing and engineering I honesty thought they'd teach you stuff.
Hello, thanks for watching. I want to clarify what I meant. Its not that the classes don't teach anything, its just that the way its taught and the assignments they give to do not reflect what will be expected at a job. All the formulas I spent memorizing are relevant, but if I don't know how to put the proper reports together, you'll never be able to use the formulas. I just think more practical assignments and less BS classes would help, especially when it comes to software. Thanks!!
I agree!! I go to school with vet technician students and they're forced to learn drug facts, physical examinations, surgical techniques and diseases after which they complete a year long internship, I know it's not the same thing for accounting but I feel like licensed professionals should be taught to apply what they learn in the classroom to real life careers. It sucks this wasn't the case for you and so many others investing their time energy and money. I think is fucking hilarious how they'd rather teach you intro to art history, western philosophy, etc than an extra semester of internship where you actually apply what you were taught. Good luck bro at least you graduated debt free.
2FINE4YOUBABYGIRL Thanks alot for this response!! Yea their argument is "well this isnt a trade school". well obviously not a trade school i would have learned something!!! I think the main issue is most of these administrators are in their 70s and when they went to school any degree meant a good job so they have lost track of the world. Thanks for watching and share with your friends!
handballroller It's sad how society has brainwashed people to go to university or they will be a failure. They tell them they'll find themselves there and it will lead to a pot of gold. But when they get there, it's just cornflakes.
Thank you thank you thank you. Like you, I was told to go to college right after high school and I agreed to as 1, I enjoy learning and 2, I wanted to escape my (toxic) family and was not able to think of any other way. I went in with an “Undeclared Major” as that was “suggested of me”. I had not made a direct decision of what I was going to do after college. The first two years was, for me, good because I wanted a variety of subjects to see which class(es) stand out for a degree. After completing ~2 years, I chose “Social Sciences” as I really enjoyed my Sociology and Psychology classes. However, though this was the case, I was to sign up for classes that I wasn’t interested in like Science and Math. Also, I agree, the pre- requisites were just a lower level as the main upper level course(s). I was in so much pressure to go to school to get a degree that I eventually, after dropping out, due to certain circumstances, was told (made to believe it was my idea) to finish my schooling online during COVID. There were some hands on stuff on campus like a day-care for Child Development majors, however, there was not any hands on with 2 areas of my major just learning facts about the subject. If I were to go back in time, I will have said “I’m not ready and need some time to explore different fields for what to do after graduation”, but I didn’t because I had the fear of being “shunned” (controlling environment to accomplish my ma’s dreams of a degree). I was thinking of going to grad school, but am in so much debt for taking ALL the money offered in desperation of being able to reside/learn far from the family. I am currently homeless in a sober living (that is of little help) and struggling with finances. I have a hard time working and wish I were able to think for myself without fear of abandonment. Anyway, I’m just going to go through each day hoping things workout for me. I’m breaking free from the family as I’m experiencing what it is like to be “independent”. Thanks again for the video…
I was aware of my spelling mistake. I use Grammarly but the words don't update on youtube for some reason, so it remained the same. P.s. nice conciliatory statement, you are very sneaky.
Took 7 years for me to finish college, only work I ever could find didn’t even require a college degree. Later I started an auto detailing business. I do that full time now. I make far more money than I ever did in the field I went to college for. Sometimes I wonder where I would be if I had just skipped college and learned about detailing when I was 19 or 20.
Should've just bought a milled or even a fake degree+ transcripts online. Most HR firms tend to completely focus on credit and criminal background checks. You could pass it off as legit. Unless it requires high security clearance.
This sounds about right..in 2009 I attended the art institute of Austin.. I took their "Media Arts" program from 09 to 2013 I learned bits and pieces of 8 different trades in the "art industry". At the end "senior year" they tried to make sense of it "the instructors" all of a sudden said you'll are video game character artist and your portfolio must be of this. We had like 3 months worth of zbrush and 3ds max plus other things training...ok up until this point I felt like a film student or a graphic design based on the classes. So I graduated and realized I would have to freelance or move to California for a job all of the ones in Austin wanted you to have 5+ years experience in studio. So I came home delusional and blamed myself for not being good enough for 5 years I practiced my skill. I finally broke out of this global elite trans that I must be poor cause I faild and just got a job doing something unrelated.
What is also great if you have a professor who doesn't give a single fuck about his students. I had a professor in technical mechanic in engineering. He just went to class to show off, how intelligent he is. He gave us his script with tasks and solutions. Every solution had a mistake we as students made a list with wrong solutions. When it came to the finals, he took extra tricky and hard task, that have not been abled to be solved in the given time. He didn't even give us enough sheets of paper to make the calculus. Afterward he is always blaming the students for his failliure rate of 80-90% each semester. If the professor wants you to fail, he will let you fail. There are no control mechanism for this. That's why it is a fraud in Germany.
Yeah. Even getting an AA requires you to complete a raft of what they call "general education" classes in addition to your major classes and support classes. AA required all three groups of classes, but I later discovered that my JC offered "certificates" in the same major. If you completed only the major classes in, say, drafting, you got what they call a certificate of completion. If you also manage to complete the support courses you got the next level up, called a certificate of proficiency. Finally, if you completed the rest (general ed classes), you got the AA. Had I to do it all over again, i'd have gotten the lowest certificate or two and then gotten myself an entry-level drafting job. Since most support and GE were also offered at night, I'd take them later AFTER I started working. Then, after working for a while, decide if I should get a BS or not, at which time the company might even pay for much of the cost. Oh well.
Truth be told. I would say Certs should be top priority half the cost worth a whole lot more. As long as the asslords that run the company will accept those.
Somehow my honours degree in Comp science and Digital Media had 2 electives worth thousands my first year about Philosophy of music and film ,useless bullshit and they thought more about liberal politics than music or film lmao I'm dead

I am an incredibly hard-working young man and incredibly ambitious, for details' sake. I would very much appreciate some words on the subject. I've got an idea of what I want to do, but I'd like some input from others.
Do you think one should go to college for video editing or E-Commerce (buying things online and selling things online)? Those are the two main things that I'm interested in, and really like the only two things I'm interested in.
I was in college and I trhought the same thing, why Am I taking butt fucking Jamaican classes for again? how much do I pay, how much much money am I losing wasting my time here, I got hired with a big company that day, finished that class and quit college
As someone who is currently taking a gap year, my desire to college is waning :(( I have done college classes at my high school for two years now (dual enrollment) and although I am finally getting to the classes where I am interested in the topic at hand, it does seem like a waste of time. I study bio-information technologies, studied the basics of systems analysis and learned to use a pivot table on the first course, along with using mathematica and matlab for optimization problems.... Some of the core educational basics will be important to you when you get older. Education is a life long endeavor. Ya have no knowledge son...part of the hassle is the requirement...makes you finish the course , which is what it takes in the business world. Why didn't you master the subject matter so it was ez. College is for learning and building a solid educational foundation. In depth, intense reading of important books, writing to develop your rational thought in a coherent manner, studying history, mathematics, learning about money/economics/small business operations, ect. I graduated in the early 80's with a University economics degree with no job prospects, no offers. I was surrounded by young attorneys working their asses off to maintain their job, working 10 hr days, Sat too! I got that job because I had a good education and could write a concise, informative brief as requested. After deciding...screw that, I ended up getting my real estate license...starting learning about real estate, construction, selling properties and eventually bought several of my own. It all was part of a learning process, lots of failures..at times...but I kept at it and became successful and retired at 60.Read more Show less

Has anyone ever "found themself" in college, like, ever in history? lol
Justin C Nope.
Justin C no one has, we all have to face death and taxes now lmao
Justin Carroll yeah I found myself hating college and finding it a waste of my time and money.
Back when college was more affordable, yeah, back in the 1970s, plenty of hippies in college found themselves, while smoking pot and dodging the draft.
To answer your question, unless you come from a rich family and spending $60k is a drop in the bucket, then no.
@@drop_messages6226 , even illegals know better than to buy into this scam!
Couldn't agree with you more man. As a college student, I feel like most of my classes have nothing to do with my accounting major, which is thousands of dollars wasted. I agree that College should be two years and college students should be able to just take classes related to their major.
Those bureaucrats would lose their jobs fast if people protested.
That pizzeria analogy. lmao
They make you take all these extra classes for 1 reason, MONEY.
I hope over-credentialism is over someday so that a bachelor's degree isn't needed for most jobs. I'm praying it happens soon.
Good video.
True I only recommend University if you want to get into the STEM Fields. If it's Arts, Humanities, or Social Sciences, don't even bother.
Spot on man , same is happening to me , studying completely irrelevant BS subjects that I will never use or need in the future
I totally agree with you man, same goes with psych classes. they make you take classes that talk about the same scientists and terms! I took psych in high school, yet they tell me I have to take a similar class in college! I passed in that class in high school with a good grade! college is turning into a business!
shit was funny af
Early Bird I swear the new addition books are the same..was hilarious
@@trickywily2823 It's true.
This is the most right on thing on the internet.
Sadly, everything he said is true.
Most of college is a overpriced scam.

??? Was college not subsidized in England?
This is a very good and informative video. Thank you for taking the time to do this! College is useless for most of the people who attend it.
The labs- oh my gosh, you're so right! I work full time and I need to take 2 physics classes but they're like right in the middle of the day during opposite times of the week. How tf is anyone supposed to even make it to that one scheduled physics class?!
That’s the point, so you can spend an extra semester.
You are hilarious...I too laughed consistently. I am not adverse to your abundant swearing, but yours was utterly entertaining. Well done.
You should be a comedian😂
93Rockforlife u in optometry school?
I would like him to be my university president.
He'd probably treat you fairly, too. College is a giant jungle!
still relevant to this day , and its even worse..

This is sooo damn entertaining and he is fucking right!!!!!!!!!!!
How else are they gonna pay for all the lesbian faculty members who have no skill set?
Very true. Taking a lot of classes you don t need, such a waste of time. All theory nothing practical also true. College is just a waste of time and money.

Very well said and 💯% true.
I totally agree with you. Thank you.
Wow! Post secondary is not worth it.
eugene680 I wouldnt say this is true for everyone its a case by case basis. unfortunately though this is the case for many.
Me too. That is why I don't care much for most teachers and professors
Great upload. .I wonder where I can find a trade school. .I was looking at mainly certification in project management and personal trainer.
so far this is the best video ever.

Every solution had a
mistake we as students made a list with wrong solutions.
