I had no idea until this video that arsenic was in groundwater and seafood. I developed a shellfish allergy years ago. Wondering how much of an allergy like this is connected to sensitivity to arsenic levels. All of this is mind blowing ... What kind of a person does this, let alone on a holiday?
This is why I always re-gift fruit cakes. Kidding aside, fruit cakes are occasionally baked several months before being iced and served. Cakes are wrapped in parchment and placed an air tight tin. The flour could have been spiked with arsenic months before the Christmas gathering.
Ma said when she was a kid an uncle of hers was released from prison for arsenic poisoning two is his 3 wives. He did it for insurance money. His first wife died but with body preparing back then, they couldn't prove she'd been poisoned. She'd been in the ground too long. This was in the early 1900s.
My husband LOVE that cake too. It’s a staple in Brazilian homes on Christmas. The Brazilian bakery where I live gives them away for free on for Christmas!
I know I need to get on a diet when that cake still looks amazing to me after listening to this. I hope the victims did not suffer for too long, absolutely horrific.
The mother in law had a joint account with the son and she took 600 reais 20 years ago from the account by mistake. Which would be over 2.600 reais today. She said it was a mistake but the in law thought she did it on purpose.... small stuff really
I am equally suspicious of Zela. Her husband died in an earlier incident . She was sickened but recovered both times. Did she limit herself to only eating a small amount? She was the one to tell the others to stop eating the cake. Did she do this because she didn’t want the child to die?
The police ruled her out. They did a press conference about that. I think she became suspicious when it happened the second time, so she tried to stop, but unfortunately too late.
If she used almond flour, it is super possible the flour was processed incorrectly and was arsenic. I don't use almond flour, because almonds themselves contain arsenic. That would also explain why the levels were so high.
Update: as of today, police confirmed that arsenic was found in the remains of zeli's husband who also passed away last September. The daughter in law had given them bananas and powdered milk then. Also, in another State in Brazil (Piauí) a stepfather has poisoned his entire family on January 1st. So far 4 people have died and one little girl is in intensive care.
This case just gets crazier and crazier! The father apparently was killed by the daughter-in-law and the police is investigating if she killed someone else.

The poisoner is in jail. It was the daughter in law.
😂💦 The cake looks terrible indeed!
Hahahaha I hate that cake too
Worst cake ever. Who came up with that nonsense 😂
Damn I did not know most arsenic poisonings are from water. 😗
@jytwentyone4025
'Contaminated' water..
Arsenic is a naturally occurring element found in soil. So it makes sense that it would then be in water too.
@ 👍🏻
From what I understood, amount of arsenic in water was not high enough to poison you.
My mother in law and sister in law tried to feed me some nasty stuff once but I could smell it and politely refused.
This is just diabolical but I bet this happens more than we know.
I had no idea until this video that arsenic was in groundwater and seafood. I developed a shellfish allergy years ago. Wondering how much of an allergy like this is connected to sensitivity to arsenic levels. All of this is mind blowing ... What kind of a person does this, let alone on a holiday?
If it’s similar to a FRUITCAKE, I am totally gonna live.
Me too!
Yes, it is. Sultanas, candied fruit and everything.
I like fruitcakes.
It gets a bad rap. I'll eat rejected fruitcakes.
This is why I always re-gift fruit cakes.
Kidding aside, fruit cakes are occasionally baked several months before being iced and served. Cakes are wrapped in parchment and placed an air tight tin. The flour could have been spiked with arsenic months before the Christmas gathering.
your worst enemy is your closest friend.
🤯 oh my gosh
They dug up her husband too lol she's been doing this for a while
😢😢😢
It wasn’t the wife. She baked the cake, but she did not know the flour in her house had been poisoned by her daughter-in-law
Serial killer!! 😮
It was the father in law not the husband wasn't it?
This is the second poisoning in Brazil within in a few months. Sick. The other case, the father-in-law died first.
Same family unfortunately
@claireangel9595 unbelievable.
She probably tested it on the father in law first ….
Always wondered why, since arsenic has no smell or flavour, victims sometimes complain that the food tasted off.
It's in pesticides. The pesticide is what they could taste.
My husband LOVE that cake too. It’s a staple in Brazilian homes on Christmas. The Brazilian bakery where I live gives them away for free on for Christmas!
Wow! And I thought my family was toxic
😑
At least not poisonous 👀
right ,,,we need to appreciate the ones we have
Poisoning your own family ...wow
Family in law.
Great report!
the spray tan is looking excellent king
I didn't even notice until you pointed it out 😂😂
Shady 😅
@@Kojic414 this is for luigi
Why do people still google illegal things they want to do on their own computer?!
Mary is very down to earth and a straightforward speaker with stunning Blue eyes...✌🏼
Wow! I didn't thought that case would be aired here!
It’s Christmas cake not a „holiday”cake🙄🙄
Actually they call it king cake so don’t be too offended by words!,
Jessie, I really like your guest today. She seems very knowledgeable about poison and is easy to understand. Thank you ❤
I really enjoyed this speaker, very knowledgeable but understandable 😊
I know I need to get on a diet when that cake still looks amazing to me after listening to this. I hope the victims did not suffer for too long, absolutely horrific.
What was the family feud?
The mother in law had a joint account with the son and she took 600 reais 20 years ago from the account by mistake. Which would be over 2.600 reais today. She said it was a mistake but the in law thought she did it on purpose.... small stuff really
She returned the money the next day **
I am equally suspicious of Zela. Her husband died in an earlier incident . She was sickened but recovered both times. Did she limit herself to only eating a small amount? She was the one to tell the others to stop eating the cake. Did she do this because she didn’t want the child to die?
Spiritual, I thought the same thing, but then I don’t know enough of the story yet.
The police ruled her out. They did a press conference about that. I think she became suspicious when it happened the second time, so she tried to stop, but unfortunately too late.
@@IlustraLilian - thanks for the info…do you know what the daughter in law was so angry about? What was the fight that caused this?
@@larlar8580 the police chief said it was for a very trivial reason but he did not want to share the motive yet
@@physiobr9227 - Thanks
In September last year she tried the first time and killed the father in law, the killer sent bananas and dried milk and he passed away…
If she used almond flour, it is super possible the flour was processed incorrectly and was arsenic. I don't use almond flour, because almonds themselves contain arsenic. That would also explain why the levels were so high.
@@SugarBunny119
It would not explain those types of levels of arsenic. Almonds have trace amounts as do cherry pits, apricot pits etc.
Reminded me of Flowers In The Attic
Thanks for all the medical info!!
I'm officially not eating anything I didn't personally make. and open the ingredients myself.
that lady speaking at the meeting was trying so hard not to say that police are corrupt lmao
How did her husband not eat any ? You would think he was at this family gathering because it’s his family she’s trying to kill !
Never share food with angry family members.
Im from Brazil and watch the channel everyday and I can’t believe im seeing Jesse talking about a Brazilian case
Your guest is fantastic & gave us great information.
This is totally something my grandmother would do!! haha oh gam gam that is so you
What a heinous act. There are some really messed up people out there. May the victims rest easy. 🙏
I read the cake was also baked with bad (old) ingredients. Old food ingredients were found in the fridge.
Old food doesn't produce arsenic..
@Skippalenikfanclub Of course not, neither did I say so, I wrote "also"...
No.
@@anniesimonegot what you meant, - there was no love in that cake. 😢
Like expired eggs or milk or something?
Reminds me of the deathcap mushroom poisoning.
16:23 Brazilian here; they don’t do viewings the same way we do them here in the US. It’s usually only a few of hours of viewing and burial the same day, or, if not possible, first thing next day.
