nah i like the ending. They showed what most of us wants, Ted and Robin together. Barney found out that although he loves Robin, it was fate that they would not be together. Instead, he transferred that love to his daughter, a typical and SUITable ending to a playboy who treats woman like objects his entire life. Ted and Robin went a full circle to end up together, which is fate (You know, or the writer's opinion)
The first time I saw this scene I was so happy for them as I’m a huge Barney and Robin shipper and I still am but after watching the show 4 times I can’t help but picture Ted’s face looking out of the window and how much that feeling sucks when the person you love gets married to someone else as something like this recently happened to me and it broke me in ways I can’t explain so this song always reminds me of Ted and how he must be feeling at that moment ik many people don’t like him but this made me empathise with him.
This moment always makes me cry. I had given up on real human connections and become heartless to those around me and used people as some sick game. This moment when I say Barney of all people be human, I thought maybe I wasn't completely lost. I have a wife and the most beautiful daughter in the world and this makes me cry every time. I wish I could re watch this show and erase my memories all the time.
Whether Robin and Barney should stay together is a good example of what matter more in shows: realism or unrealistic fairytale ending that most audience like. Realistically speaking, Robin and Barney will break up. Both have little believe in commitment. Obstacles can easily break one of them into old habit while the other one is not firmly committed to anchor the relationship. Both also think relationship depends on passion which almost always fade away... Their relationship almost certainly won't last. Suppose given this realism, the writers can either create a dramatic event to end their relationship, or create a montage to show how their relationship fades away. It is actually still poetic. Beautiful things like passion-based relationship, don't last forever. Enjoy it while it lasts, and let go when it ends. Now, most audience want a fairytale ending, despite realisim. I personally think reality is beautiful as is. It is fine for beautiful things to not last forever. People should appreciate the beauty along the way, instead of fixating on the inevitable ending.

Sorry, but Ted and Robin DID love each other dearly, and Robin and Barney were no longer in love with each other by the finale. That's the way it was, and of.

Ultimately, he placed the choice in Robin's hand. The play, the setup, it was all an act. An act to show Robin what she's in for. Essentially, Barney is saying "If you marry me, this is what you sign up for." While manipulative, it is honest and true to Barney.

16 No's from Robin. And Barney asked Robin to marry him in 16 steps.
As much as i loved Barney and Robin, I have to admit, it is amazing that the only girl he'd ever truly love is his daughter. Which feels like an equally good happy ending for him.
He is a legend
I remember the first time I watched the show I loved this moment, probably because (as the show runners wanted at the time) I was cheering for Barney and Robin. But rewatching the show now and holy hell this is an insane level of emotional manipulation... like realistically Robin should want nothing to do with Barney ever again after something like this.
She tried to manipulate him too
barney and robin were an evidence. i loved ted and robin dynamic in the first season but after season 7 it was just an obsession for ted. He didn’t love Robin, he just loved the idea of her.
I hate that Barney is making a new Playbook after that big "you don't need it anymore". His evolution was so good but they ruined it, sadly. But I am so thankful that this show ever existed. Favorite Show of all time!
@@tanyamoretz he did write a new one after the divorce
In a story about how ted met his children's mother, barney had the two greatest proposals of all time
Season 6, 7, 8, and 9 were all about how Barney and Robin got married. That’s so much time devoted to telling that story to have it ripped apart in an hour finale.
I wouldn't have minded the ending if they didnt spend all that time focusing on these 2 characters relationship together just for it to be undone in one episode
Right? They can shove that horn up their asses for ruining the legacy of this show.
I still cry when I watch this scene
Imagine if this play went far back as the first episode
My favorite scene through all the series
Yeah good job writers have a character have a meaningful and well done character arc. Then fuck it up in five minutes.
*2
Alternate Title: 4 minutes and 46 seconds of chills
Step 17- have amazing character growth and the writers ruin it.
This is so fucking cute
Tell me what you want but this story ends - robin and barney are married and happy, marshall and lilly have 4 kids and be happy, Ted loose his wife but still love her to much so he stays single and raise his 2 kids to great Humans.
Everything else wouldnt be excapted
O boy, what a great season 8 finale. I surely hope the writers didn't do anything stupid at the end of S9!
This is the Legendary episode 😍😍
the best play in the playbook
