One of the best things about HIMYM was the evolution of Barney Stinson as a character. I don't think we'll ever see another sitcom that has a character like Barney, he's just too well written and acted

I didn't mind it. HIMYM always kept it real. Whether it has Lily run away, or Marshall's dad dying, or Ted getting left at the altar, or Robin and Barney getting divorced. These are all very real situations we find ourselves in at a moment's notice, and they are heart-wrenching. Each is abrupt and painful in their own way. As for Ted getting with Robin at the end, this makes sense too. Very few viewers asked themselves, "Why is Ted telling his kids this story in the first place?" The fact that the story spent SO much time on Robin and so little time on the mother suddenly made sense; he wanted to see if his kids were okay with him getting together with Robin again. When an ending answers questions one didn't even think to ask, that's something truly special.
@@JM-us3fr Nah, they spent a season & a half getting us into Barney & Robin just to break it off in the final episode. And their reason for breakup would also apply to her and Ted. @@emilyoryall406 Unfortunately, my family does not pay for any entertainment subscriptions beyond regular cable (Dish Network). I also don't really watch much tv, which is why a subscription service would be a waste of money for my family. NPH seems like such a genuinely good guy and down to earth. Like a celebrity you could sit next to in a bar and talk to like anyone else and he'd be happy to have the conversation with someone new. He doesn't seem to think of himself as a celebrity first or let the fame get to his ego.
This guy is simply an amazing actor! He might not have done the most serious roles, but OMG he is amazing! And I am so exited about having another season of his new show! :D
Back in 1997, I saw NPH as Mark in the La Jolla PlayHouse production of "Rent." He absolutely crushed the role. Funny, that upon subsequent viewings of Rent, I realized it's an ensemble production, and that Mark is not the main protagonist. NPH was that good in the role- he stole the whole show.
I know Barney parodies everything toxic about being a man but nontheless... That charackter entered my life in a critical moment and helped me as a gateway to form an ego I desperately needed. Because if a caricature like Barney can have self estem, a normal person should have no problems having some for themself. Thank you Mr. Harris. Your performance will be forgotten in time for reasons I do not understand but you saved me.
How I Met Your Mother has the most realistic series arc of all time for a sitcom. People grow up, they move away for jobs, they get divorced, they get sick and die, etc…. It would’ve been very easy for the show runners to write an ending in which everyone is happy, and have happy marriages, and happy kids, and happy lives, and live happily ever after, but it’s that’s not real life. It’s my favorite sitcom ending of all time. I know everyone disagrees, and wants that fake happy ending nonsense that every other sitcom has, but we’ll just agree to disagree. 😉😭 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Same. It is the same reason I like the ending of LA LA Land, life isn't always happy or constant. Like Ted, I wish we could have had more time with the mother, but I adore all the moments we had with her!
Who doesn't love this guy? seriously? I mean, coming out was a bit of a shock for those of us who grew up with him, but he's always been good in everything I've ever seen him in. Though I haven't seen his last show, I guess.....not exactly my type of show. But almost kind of sad that I haven't seen it because I'm sure he's excellent in that too.

As a child, Doogie Howser, M.D. was my first favorite evening tv show because I just thought he was so cute and I had a huge crush on him at that time, even though I was only between 4 and 8 years old when the show had aired. I'd love to go back and watch the show again!
I was 7 when it aired. I still love that show!!
It's on Hulu
@@emilyoryall406 Unfortunately, my family does not pay for any entertainment subscriptions beyond regular cable (Dish Network). I also don't really watch much tv, which is why a subscription service would be a waste of money for my family. Occasionally I'll see previews for something that's only available through a subscription service that I'd really like to watch, but again, it would be a waste of money for me to purchase a subscription just to watch one documentary or whatever.
I am mad they didn't start there. That was his big start.
NPH seems like such a genuinely good guy and down to earth. Like a celebrity you could sit next to in a bar and talk to like anyone else and he'd be happy to have the conversation with someone new. He doesn't seem to think of himself as a celebrity first or let the fame get to his ego.
Love how he spoke about his relationship working with Cobie Smulders!
👆
Wish he would talk about his amazing award hosting gigs. He is the best at that!
This isn’t fair Barney had a whole playbook of iconic characters…
I was hoping he would talk about a Serious of Unfortunate Events.
Just finished Uncoupled, loved it! Really hope it gets a second season.
Same👏.
Brooks Ahsmanskas ♥️ is my favorite character, love him so much. Is so talended.
🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Same. It is the same reason I like the ending of LA LA Land, life isn't always happy or constant. Like Ted, I wish we could have had more time with the mother, but I adore all the moments we had with her!
Totally agree with you on that part, life is all and nothing at the same time and it's great they showed both sides
Wow. That’s actually really well said. The finale of HIMYM may not be loved, but it is realistic.
I think what most people have a problem with is that Ted got his happy ending with Robin and that just felt so wrong
THANK you. It's actually genius
He is absolutely right that the CGI still holds up in Starship Troopers
“Barney” stole the show of HIMYM. I don’t think they intended on him being so much of the focus.
I HATED how they ended the show.
i paused this video halfway through to go watch uncoupled. great show!!!
Why not watch one episode before you make your mind up that it isn’t your type of show ?
"and SUIT UP" is one of the most iconic TV lines ever!
When he said the frat guys don't follow through enough I had a really good laugh. NPH is a legend
This is amazing, I only recently ACTUALLY met Neil because of barney stintson but I watched Gone Girl when it was released a looong time ago but I don't actually remembered the movie except for this EXACT scene that you showed here with Neil wich does say a lot about his acting it's just such an intense acting
This man's charisma is unmatched
Barney trying to track down the Robin Sparkles videos are the funniest
NPH is one of those rare talents that actually has a shot at an EGOT.
He's in a rather special class, having won an Emmy for hosting the Tonys.
The first time I saw him was in the show "lemony Snicket series of unfortunate events" and I loved him so much!
He is such a wonderful actor!
Now that I have watched how much met your mother twice, it’s unnatural to me to not see Neil Patrick Harris without a suit
Neil is INCREDIBLE as Hedwig!!! I struggle to believe that this was his first time doing drag, he is just so natural.
i've been watching a series of unfortunate events and i just love him in it. so grandiose and over the top. love it.
Please let there be Un-Coupled Season 2.
I've seen a lot of NPH's movies and shows, and Dr Horrible is my favorite part of his. The songs slap in that! Really bummed they didn't include that role.
Dude Starship Troopers is one of my favourite films and HIMYM is one of my favourite TV shows. You killed it in both. You're a grade A legend.
Oh man! I wanted to hear NPH talk about, "A series of unfortunate events". I loved him in the Netflix series.
But what I found weird is that they made it over into a movie with Jim Carrie. I love Jim but I absolutely loved NPH as Olaf
I think you need to look up the release dates of both adaptations.
Him being spiderman for MTV was cool
I think that How I Met Your Mother is a great title. It has INTRIGUE. You read that title and immediately you're like "Oooh, I wonder how he's gonna meet the mother.". There's a hook right in the title. Not many titles really have that.
Him in smurfs was the best in my opinion
NPH played it so well in Harold and Kumar.
...and Starship Troopers 👌🏻
I think NPH just landed himself on my list of "people I'd love to share a meal with" just for the conversation.
It would be awesome to see Neil Patrick in more comedies this dude hilarious.
I’ve always loved Neil Patrick Harris I hope I can meet him someday
Geez. Love what he does with every role. And bares his uncertainty and insecurity about working in a crazy industry like a trooper. 😉
