- Cheryl Wheeler singing 75 Septembers, the song she wrote for her father's 75th birthday. Singing with her is John Gorka from their concert Saturday, April 18th at the Performing Arts Center in Columbus, Ohio
The first time I saw Cheryl Wheeler play this song was at the Cafe Carpe in Fort Atkinson Wisconsin. Quite simply it brought tears to my eyes, change a few words and it captured the essence of my grandfather and my father, thank you Cheryl; thank you marcm1210!

I am 51 and only discovering the unbelievable love I have for folk music, especially by gifted talented writers/singers/players like Cheryl Wheeler and Stan Rogers. What I have missed!
Cheryl played this at the Cafe Carpe in Fort Atkinson Wisconsin, 1994 95. It is a grand salute to our farmer forbears who saw the change from rural to urban in the forst half of the last century. A remarkably powerful song.
Has to be one of the greatest American songs since the pilgrims wrote a hymn of thanks at Providencetown. I'm old enough to remember working farms across the street from my family's house in Warren, Rhode Island, in the '50s. Roosters crowed in the morning and we had milk delivered to a metal box outside the door. A Tony Bennet tune ('I've Come Home Again') has the phrase "simple splendor," referring to those earlier times. That and Cheryl's tune turn my eyes into little lawn sprinklers!
I love her voice not to mention her music and especially this song
I think I first heard this song from Peter Paul & Mary ... truly beautiful.
Cheryl's voice is always so soothing.
I'm not old enough to remember, but I still love this song so hard!
I love this song.
Just magic....
