I am obsessed with this song. I love the lyrics, the melody, Cheryl and the musicians. I think I've played it at least 100 times. Wish I had found out about her a long time ago. Would love to see her in concert.
Love your music, heart, and soul, Cheryl. Arrow is the first song I heard you sing, guess where...Timonium. A few years ago we attended your concert at Timonium Methodist, you are simply the best: super gifted, funny as heck, great storyteller, humanitarian, and the list goes on. Hope to see you in concert again soon.
I was just listening to the album version of this song and figured the fiddle work was by Mark O'Connor. This song has always made a strong impression and the closing section is strikingly beautiful. I think Cheryl must be one of the most under-appreciated singers from this period. The whole album is great. Estate Sale is another favorite. This link on UA-cam also reminded me how great the American Music Shop was, not just the guests but also the regular backing band. This was my introduction to Mark O'Connor and Jerry Douglas. For me this was some of the best live country music every recorded. Would love to see more of these posted.
Gee, I remember when this song burst through the folk airwaves how many years ago. What a beautiful song, now and then. I won't let so many years go by this time...
Of course it is a matter of taste, but I took your advice an listened to Ms. Safka's version. For me, the deeper tone and quick vibrato (a bit like Dolly Parton) do not work as well for this song, which is SO lyrical, light, and direct. I would like to hear Miley Cyrus cover this song just out of curiosity.
Oh no no no .... Cheryle's pure, clear voice is necessary for the magic of this song! The other felt forced and somehow intrusive on the delicacy of the song.
"Maybe these dreams are leading me, maybe love is not as gentle as my memory"
This is one of the most touching verses in all history of music.
Achingly beautiful, romantic lyrics, brings tears, a knowing smile, and yearning for lovers from younger days. 🙏🏼
This song haunts me every time I close my eyes.
Cheryl wrote and performs a diamond of a song. The band backs her subtly and accompanys with perfection. That is how it is done, folks.
I agree with all of this
I agree with your agreement
Beautiful song and voice
The older I get, the better writer she is. Damn.
Yep
Hauntingly beautiful. This performance deserves 1,000,000 likes.
Among the saddest, most beautiful, and truest songs I know. It's at the top of a very short list for me.
This song and this woman. True gems.
Only the most true heart requires closed eyes to sing this song. Tears come to my eyes every time I get this.
Me too
Wow angelic voice
devastating song...nowhere to hide in this melody. Thank you Cheryl

I don't think it's enough damns...
Thank you for posting. Cheryl is a great singer and guitarist. This song is about fantasy and reality. The fiddler is awesome too.
Love this type of music. I could listen to her all night.. especially around a campfire.
I heard her perform this at the 2018 New Bedford Folkfest (and many other times). I'm amazed her voice keeps getting better over the the years.
