Singer-songwriter Cheryl Wheeler has been recording these songs from her kitchen during the pandemic. I run a mailing list for her fans, and she's asked me to post them here!
I have been a fan of Cheryl Wheeler for decades when I was living in Rhode Island. I was fortunate enough to see her perform many times. I play acoustic guitar and enjoy playing her music. I found a website that posted some of her songs with the accurate chords and that was awesome but now the chords have been removed. I realy enjoyed that resource. I wish someone could put the chords back online.
This song absolutely slays me. I'm only 31 but everytime I hear it I feel like an elderly man looking back at a life filled with joy and sadness, wondering where the time went. Songwriting at it's finest.
I'm so glad to hear this again. In the late 1990s, my Dad had a cassette tape that was a compilation of singer/songwriters. It included this song, and I remember some others by Christine Lavin. This song was one of my favorites.
My wife and I lived in Boston 1992-1996. We saw you many times. We both love your songs and your wit. I've been so happy to discover your "kitchen channel". Your voice is incredible. As a guitar player I was able to figure out your chords and finger style structure from these videos. I will be able to play reasonable renditions of your songs around the campfire! All the best. And Love.
This is currently my absolute favorite song. I found Cheryl’s music about one year ago and now I have ALL of her albums. I so wish she was still touring. There aren’t very many musician/singers who are able to put you right there with them in the songs they sing; Thank you, Cheryl Wheeler!
She’s touring now! I’m seeing her in Plymouth MA Oct. 15. Used to see her so often on Cape, it was old hat & wonderful each time. She doesn’t play the Cape a lot anymore, so now this will be a treat! Don’t know where you are, but check her schedule to see if she’ll be close to you.👍
I have seen her in North Hampden Massachusetts at least six times over the years. Each time she’s always better and yet she is always the best. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather listen to I’m glad you appreciate her like I do. She certainly is a jewel.
I just happened upon these videos, and I am so grateful to Cheryl and anyone else who made these recordings possible. I have been a fan since the early 90s. These videos make me feel like I'm right in the same room with her. A balm in these horrible times.
God bless you, such a beautiful song and magnificent performance. Saw you in Nashua, NH in early 90s...that song has comforted me since. Thank you. Is the tab available for this?...would love to learn it.

I absolutely love this. I bought this album (Driving Home) back in the '90's and my kids grew up listening to it. Absolute iconic Americana.
One of her finest albums.
Perfect song art at its best…thank you

Perfection here from Cheryl
One of my very very favorite songs. How skilled you are to write such a beautiful song. Hope your dad got to hear it before he passed.
Spare and elegant. Nothing is present that does not add. Brava!
Thank you for uploading. Cheryl is excellent. My mom was born in September. Yes I think of her when I hear this song.
Sublime.
If you want to know how to craft a perfect song, this one is essential, along with many other Wheeler songs.
Your folks did a superb job!
I like this one too
Thank you, I grew up on Hayfields Farm in BC, knew most farms and the agricultural farmers.
