He is someone to look up to of you are an aspiring comedian. Notice his delivery, and his choice of words.
He really created his own kind of humor that so many people who understand that it is all just a joke. There's truth behind most jokes, and the truth hurts.
So cry and get upset with the things we cannot control or just learn to turn the situation around and make light of it so you can continue enjoying life.
I think Norm was really hard on his body in his early life and maybe still kept abusing substances while he said he was sober.
I hate that people are so judgemental to the point where someone would need to hide their addiction or substance abuse from people.
We really need to appreciate what we have right now because it's not going to last. This moment I'll time is so special because it is not entirely corrupted.. YET. Everyone who is intelligent vs "woke" can see that the Era of carefree entertainment and actually creating something for the sake of creating it just because you want to. That was Norm.
He did not care what anyone thought about him while he was performing. Maybe even in his actual life? I wouldn't know.
I do remember watching an interview where he invited a camera crew in and they watched football and ate wings. He also lived next to his mom. In an apartment complex.

I want you to think about something that will show you the decline of humanity.. did he have a tick tool account? No. Did he consider it? Absolutely not. Was he the funniest person on the earth? Probably. Did he show his luxurious mansions and live a fabricated life? Nah.
He admitted to having a gambling problem but he still managed to take care of himself and his family. He knew what life is really about and will always remain as the funniest person I have ever seen.

I can concur with most of your sentiments but I really don't feel like he was an addict in any sort of the way, past or later on in his life. People often mistook him for being drunk in some of his more recent sets but honestly what do any of us know he very well could have been on a bevy of medications to combat his illness and it's really none of our business to begin with. He was such a quick wit and so sharp, I think alot of the time his mind moved faster than his mouth.

This is the earlier 'in construction' material used later in his special 'Me doing stand up'. Except the delivery was quicker, the material was more solid and the audience laughed more often and a lot louder.

However/ living now at the equator basically and last week seeing this truck of seriously sunburned- like obviously burned- pigs being taken to slaughter. Not happy them. Not hungry me. If he was a bit more coherent at the beginning maybe the audience would’ve appreciated him more. It was a pretty awkward first couple of minutes on the set. Once he got to the Sierra Mist joke he got rolling

Mike S. so I went and watched ten minutes worth of that special and it was infinitely better than the last I saw him, which I think was on some 360 degree platform in an arena. recall a lot of physical stuff and sound effect/screech type shit with him running around like a maniac. anyway, who fuckin cares what the specifics of my half-ass recollections are anyway lol. I'm gonna have to lighten up somewhat on the guy, which is OK because now Carlos Mencia is in a league of his own and that guy is so hateable I don't even need Dane.

THERE WAS NO MICROPHONE FOR THE AUDIENCE SO YOU DONT HEAR THEM LAUGH. Norm Isnt bombing, you just cant hear anything from the crowd other than the really huge laughs. This is because they dont have the crowd mic'd up. So because the crowd isnt mic'd, you cannot hear them and that includes their laughter. So to sum it up, the crowd is laughing but you cannot hear them.
