"This promotional film from 1980 shows off the Sacramento region to prospective employers and inhabitants. This film has some gorgeous shots of Lake Tahoe along with many street scenes and aerial shots from around downtown. It's amazing to see how much more growth has occurred in the downtown area in the last forty years!"
That sacramento like my youth is long gone
Yep, that was the Sacramento of my youth, and it was great.
The Arden area used to be beautiful back in the day. It was a high end part of town. If you go there now, you better be packin'. My wife and I recently retired and moved to Arkansas, and as much as I didn't want to leave, I'm glad we did. It doesn't mean I don't miss California...
I love the architecture of the late 70’s early 80’s industrial parks in Sac. The buildings bring back fond memories of visiting my Dad @ work.
I still love SacTown. Man, I had so much fun when I went to UC Davis and would hang with my Buddies at Sac State...mid 80's early 90s! I grew up in Stockton, but SacTown has a large special place in my heart going to school and working there. I really do miss the fishing too!
Wow what a great but sad piece. I miss that time. I just moved out of Sac up to the hills after 42 years. It’s become overpopulated unfortunately.
Such memories
I just took Carmichael and Sacramento for granted growing up, and now they're gone. I had no idea how lucky I was.
Now the water isn’t so clean!! And it’s no longer a great place to live with all the Dagon crime that happens here!!
What happened to this city? I feel robbed.
Sacramento’s downfall came with compilation of things too many to list but 2 of the major factors that payed apart in it are the crappy politicians and extensive building in areas that were never meant to be as big as they are.
1 million residents?
Sacramento County was probaboy around 800,000 in 1980. The City of Sacramento a little under 300,000.
