This story reminds me of the young lady who was being issued a ticket for speeding. As the cop was finishing up the ticket, the entitled young woman said to him, "I thought you all didn't give tickets to women who were beautiful." He said to her, "We don't. Here's your ticket." That cop is my hero!

The police were convinced I was on drugs or alcohol . It happened once and then I was fine for months and then it happened again and I was fine.. Drinking & Driving is one thing that there is absolutely ZERO excuses for. I USED to think my dad was a little over cautious, even if he had 1 drink from his beer, he absolutely refused to drive. He didn’t care, if it was 1 drink from a beer & driving down the road, he absolutely refuses to drive (I use past tense bc he doesn’t drink anymore. He wasn’t ever a heavy drinker, just when he would be working outside all day, he would have a beer or two after he was done). I/we would tell him “Dad your fine to drive. Your not under the influence, legally your fine” but he absolutely refused to. He would either have me drive him to town if he needed to go (or my mom or sister) or he would just tell us what he needed. Now that I’m older I have so much more respect for him for NEVER driving. He said it was NEVER worth the risk of hurting someone else, himself or risking loosing his license. Just one more reason why I have so much love & respect for that man.

Even cops will advise drivers to skip the "tests' just go right to the breathalyzer. It is the only thing required. Breathalyzer has to be done at the police station. Roadside results are not accepted in court.

    • @Alli8833

Those procedures are a result of the extreme litigiousness of Americans (you see it in so many of these videos - half the people arrested start going off about suing the police departments!). The whole issue of probable cause makes things tricky in America, so the sobriety tests before the breath tests cover more of their bases legally.

The officers do it to determine whether or not the driver is impaired before making the arrest. It's not for court evidence. It's to prevent arrests on people whom aren't impaired based on accusations alone which could otherwise lead to wasted time, resources and diminished reputation.

I have no pity on these people especially the ones I've arrested more then once for DUI. The punishment should be more severe especially for repeat offenders. So true. The amount of nip bottles along the roads speaks to that. I have seen people walk out the packie and down a few bottles of nips and drive off or one time ride off on their bicycle. I've seen people throw them out the window while driving. People are cooked.
