    I started in the basic one 4 days ago in the trial. Navigating the app is a learning curve, but after 3 flights now it's getting easier. I used KLAL as my home thinking I could get jobs from Tampa and Orlando area, but now find it hard to get back to my home base. Of course I am only using the 172, so things are limited. I only have 140 hours in the sim, so pretty new at this. I purchased the Kodiak 100, and plan to start training myself in that plane. Should bring more opportunity in OnAir. Great series, I have watched almost all your videos. Looking forward to Part 2. Thanks

    This is exactly what I was looking for! I saw this video and signed up yesterday. I’m doing thunder starting with a C172 bare bones company and also started stratus where I rented a 737 moving cargo because I REALLY rather fly jets lol. I’m hoping one day I could own a couple of jets with thunder. Best thing is I’m flying to places I never would consider. Thank you for introducing this to us!

      That's the main reason I love all the career add-ons, they keep me flying and going to places I wouldn't otherwise decide to fly! If you want to fly jets on Thunder, you could consider taking a loan out or starting your company as an Airline (which is just a shortcut to getting a 1.5M credit loan + gives you a Jet certification automatically). I do like the progression of starting with the C172 though :-)

    Great intro but I'm intimidated! Still working to get my head around Neofly and OnAir seems much more complicated, although much more realistic. I think I'll try the 7 day trial after watching your video a couple more times, but I'm not going to abandon Neofly quite yet! Looking forward to your subsequent instructional videos on OnAir. You're always terrific and I appreciate all the instructional videos you've posted in the past.

    Just returning to onAir after 2 years. Great video! Helped me to remember everything and even taught me a few things I never knew before... I've done around 100 flights all together and all of them have been at night, I never knew about the time offset lol You've just made this 100x more enjoyable for me now :D
    Thinking about renting different aircraft... It'd be cool if the aircraft interiors had visual wear depending on the age and usage etc. Each aircraft would look unique and it'd be pretty cool seeing the change going from using an older beat up rented aircraft to a brand new one... Anyone know of any addons that do something like this?

    Fantastic tutorial.
    I did try it but found it extremely confusing and frustrating with where my plane was first located and no jobs available from that airport
    Also after landing I had very little fuel and the airport I was at didn't have a fueling station.
    It looks great but I just lost interest as I didn't find it user-friendly.

      Thanks! OnAir (and Neofly, too) can be a bit intimidating. I've been stranded before like that myself! In that situation, you can use employee "transport" and/or airplane "ferry" options to move your pilot and airplanes to airports that have fuel and missions to take. It can definitely be frustrating sometimes. I'll try to remember to cover these situations in future videos in this series so others can know how to get out of them. I'll be covering AI pilots, Work Orders, and the Logistics Center in part 2.

    Great intro. Yes, career and progression is indeed something I'm missing from FS2020. It is my understanding that this gets better with FS2024. I also like to fly in VR, so the alt-tabbing between FS and external add-ons as of now seems contrived, but hopefully we'll be getting there.

    I'm definitely interested in this and I fly more GA than Airline style, for 3 bucks a month I won't have to waste time thinking up what would be a fun flight, unless I want to of course!
    1 big question I have though is how much of a drain on PC resources this program may have?
    I'm going to be following this, and your channel so thanks!!!

    • @KipOnTheGround
      @KipOnTheGround  11 місяців тому

      I honestly haven't ever thought about the resources it uses, but I'd say it must be low impact like other similar services that track your plane's location and telemetry, like Volanta, Navigraph, etc. If your PC is on a lower end, I'd test with something like Volanta to see if it significantly impacts anything for your setup. That should give you a decent idea of the impact OnAir would have.

    So there is no certifications for planes correct? Just as long as you have money to buy or rent or lease it?
    Im torn between this and Neofly, I think I bought Airhauler 2 but its kind of dead for joining other VA's. I just want to start low and work my way up. Doing cargo and airline stuff once I get there. Would OnAir be the best overall or use Neofly to scratch the itch for free for awhile?

    • @KipOnTheGround
      @KipOnTheGround  Рік тому +1

      There are check rides and certifications in OnAir, yes. I cover them in Part 4 here: ua-cam.com/video/oVeF6sZa5G4/v-deo.html
      I'm partial to OnAir because it has the most depth of any of the career mode apps, and I find myself using it more than anything else. Often it's a question of budget for people, as OnAir is $35.99 for a 1-year pass while NeoFly is free (aside from the optional donations for additional features). I think that if you don't have any interest at all in managing AI pilots, having to hire co-pilots and flight attendants for larger planes you fly, building and managing FBOs, or doing multiplayer things like virtual airlines, NeoFly is the best choice and saves you money. If you want any of those things I just listed, then OnAir is the choice. Either way, you can get the 7-day trial for OnAir to see what you think before deciding. I also still open Skypark from time-to-time since it's so simple to use.

    got a question for you, if you loose tracking and it says to drag your airplane to the orange area, how do you do that.

    • @KipOnTheGround
      @KipOnTheGround  Рік тому

      There is a button on the OnAir flight tracking page that will automatically position/slew your plane to the spot where you can resume the flight. It's a bit tricky though -- I'd recommend (1) getting the plane airborne first and setup in a cruise configuration, (2) turn on "active pause" in the top-of-screen menu in MSFS, (3) use reposition button in OnAir so it slews/moves your plane to its previous known location, (4) start the flight tracking in OnAir, then finally (5) turn off active pause in MSFS. Hope that helps.

    Seems to me, you got to be a fool to pay a subscription to use software, especially a game. If you only want to play a game for a month, then it's not much of a game, and certainly not worth the money. Seems like just another way to exploit the gulliblity of the consumer.
