Turns out, they did a lot of covers too! They covered the Sam Cooke classic “Bring it on Home to Me” and Nina Simone’s “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”. The latter went on to be one of their biggest hits.

Technically House of the Rising Sun is a cover. Or it is at the very least, not an original. I'm not sure what the name for a cover of a traditional folk song is lol

You reacted to their House of the Rising Sun! Iconic group! Check lead singer Eric Burdon with War!!!!❤” Spill the Wine”.
Bassist in grey became Jimi Hendrix’s manager!
Yeah but Eric wasn’t acting too happy! That was some Hollywood flick with dancing beach bunnies. Better to check them out on Ed Sullivan!
Eric came from a hard working blue collar family in northern England. He related to those blues songs because he lived it!

Both of my parents are Vietnam Veterans. Both spent time in country. Dad walked point and trained dogs for the army. Mom was a Lt. Colonel as a nurse in the Air Force. She ran nursinh units in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. She was a flight nurse and had over 75 jumps into remote areas to treat wounded. This song was huge for soldiers in Vietnam. It was played over and over by troops then. I can understand why. Neither one talks much at all about that time in their lives. God Bless 🥰

I had an older brother and two older cousins who allowed themselves to be drafted. They were not politically aware. Then war criminal Nixon wanted to draft me. I knew the politics and that I was physically disqualified though they called me for two physicals.
I used the opportunities to talk to the poor guys with me on the bus about their rights even if they were deemed apt. I had confrontations with the staff at the induction center. They even had me go to a psychologist because I apparently was too normal.

The Animals were considered the rough side of the 60s and had a lot of great hits. The dance shows back then mostly had them lip syncing, this was probably a West Coast show with the beach and surfboards. 👍👍👍

About the bass player... "Bryan James "Chas" Chandler (18 December 1938 - 17 July 1996)[1] was an English musician, record producer and manager, best known as the original bassist in The Animals, for which he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. He also managed the band Slade, and Jimi Hendrix, about whom he was regularly interviewed until his death in 1996."

This video is actually a clip or scene from the movie It's A Bikini World (1967). Part of that beach party genre of films that feature cameos of different bands playing and I guess the Animals got to be one the bands. They don't look too thrilled to be into it. It's not a live performance as you can tell they are obviously lip synching to the studio version of the song. The stage they are on is pretty far out though man!

Well, it's kind of hard to find an upbeat...positive blues song by The Animals. lol I mean they were one of the original pioneers of bringing the blues genre to a wider audience of people during the early 60's and 70's. I mean listen to the titles of their songs and you'll shortly discover they are not "happy" topics such as: "House of the Rising Sun", "We gotta Get Out Of This Place", "Don't Bring Me Down", "I'm Crying" get the drift. lol 😏 They were known for their gritty, bluesy sound. The band balanced tough, rock-edge pop singles against rhythm and blues-oriented albums which they were quite successful at doing. Here's another song by them, if interested. (another not so happy topic) 😆"The Animals - Tobacco Road (1967)" (channel: Beat-Club) --The Animals cover of this song "Tobacco Road" was a Trans-Atlantic pop hit in 1964 reaching number 6 on the UK charts and number 14 on the US singles charts. As always, I enjoyed rocking with you fellas' thanks so much for sharing. We appreciate you.

I just left a comment on your reaction to House of the Rising Sun where I suggested you review this song. You're right about Eric Burdon's facial expression. He NEVER smiles!!! Check out Boom Boom (John Lee Hooker), Don't Let Me be Misunderstood and I'm Crying. Back to Burdon's serious look, not too many southern black blues singers smiled while singing the Blues

The Animals & the Stones introduced American blues to my generation. A pretty good semi "up" tune by them Is their version of Sam Cook's "Bring it on Home to Me", still begging a chick for attention though. (Sam's version is great too with back up by the underrated great Lou Rawls) "It's My Life" was one of their other British Invasion hits with a "sing along" chorus just like "...Out of This Place".

They are all working class boys from struggle street, Glasgow. Hard, hard, hard. Those boys old before their time, and wise to the bitterness and cold indifference of the world to the poor. Have you heard working class bands singing about rainbows and unicorns and flowers? The thing about struggle and hard times is you want someone to acknowledge your struggle and acknowledge that you have value, and songs like this say to the other forgotten devalued, despised, working class kids of the dark, damp, dirty inner cities 'we see you and we with you.' It's like James Brown saying to Maceo ''Maceo, are you someone?'' and him saying ''I sure am!'' ''Fred, Fred! Are you someone?'' ''You bet I am someone.''

Fellows, let me. break it..down...for you! Whomever you are getting your suggestions from, DOES NOT KNOW THE POPULAR SONGS from the classic eras. You said this song reached #2 in Canada. Do you know how many people were in Canada in the 60's and 70's? Barely 25 - 30 million (25 - 30,000,000). In the WHOLE COUNTRY!!! Where as the U.S.A. had upwards of 300,000,000!!!! Reaching #2 is NOTHING to crow about. That song was NOT that popular at the time. You SHOULD want to react to songs that were popular. That had a large following. That would ensure MORE VIEWS!!! You are averaging about 5k views per reaction. Do you know that other reactors are in the mid to high double digits k's per their reaction? You CAN NOT entice more subscribers if you react to songs that DID NOT have a large following in their heyday!!! We want to RELIVE our favorites. I've already given you a number of very popular songs to react to. I should be your business manager. Or, are you in this for the FUN of it? Peace out...BROTHER
