I disagree. This is better if you know more about the nature of the foundation and anomalies. Especially since this one leaves some real confusion between whether it IS an anomaly or a cover up
I actually think the more simple and almost confusing ones are better for this. Such as The Guest video he made recently. They give more power to the imagination. This video is best for after they are already into SCP as it's very different, but incredibly well done
Maybe but it might help if they are fairly old. I mean I wasn't even alive in 1975, let alone graduating High School, that kinda breaks the narrative. Should have made it 97 or 07.
Plot Twist: All of these cognitohazards are actually active in our own universe, but all of us just have abnormally high cognitohazard resistance, so memetics can’t actually affect us.
Or maybe people of different universes are affected by different cognito hazards? So a congito hazard of our world would affect another universe as little as their cognito hazards affect us.
I love how this can be the organization gaslighting and dealing with whoever finds evidence of what happened to the kids or a 100% true cognitohazard that distorts your perception and makes you think this way; This is cognitohazard done right, this true uncerntainty of "in wich information being conveyed to me can I trust?" really does put in perspective how we depend on our perception and how even the CHANCE that it might be altered can drastically make us doubt what we think is the truth
Yeah, the fact that in universe it is exceptionally believable that the ffoundation would cover up the death of a bunch of kids really makes all the difference.
quite literally one of my favorite just from the fear induced by the object as well as the phrase "you do not recognize the bodies in the water" which by itself is terrifying
The class of '76 is my favourite "canon" among the SCP. It does not deal in world-ending threads. It does not ask you to have major in philosophy or quantum mechanics to understand what is going. The horror is mundane by comparision, yet that makes it supremly creepy when off-set against the high-school life in the boonies nostalgia. Class of '76 could happen everywhere, to anyone and its SCPs are often outgrows of teen-age drama taken to the horrifying extreme.
What’s weird is the yearbook is for class 76 but the actual bodies are supposedly the class of 75, whoever they are? I don’t recognize the bodies in the water as I was born in 2000 so the cognitohazard is a moot point😜

My Head canon is that you see the physical bodies of people you know who died during a XK extinction event, and who have since been bought back as clones by SCP-2000. This realisation allows you to remember the event yourself which in turn sets off a memetic trigger planted by 2000, killing you. Only O5-1/2 know that everyone is a clone, which is the reason for the redactions in the article to protect foundation staff from the memetic trigger. You probably see your own body, and the bodies of your family and friends which is a terrifying thought

Well, here is a question for you; When a victim sees the bodies in the water, do the bodies appear as people actually _do_ know, or are they made to _believe_ they know the bodies?
Fucking amazing. The warning voice is incredibly effective; especially in contrast to the hushed voices of SCP-2316 in "Not Fade Away". It gives the impression that the voice is engineered to be hard to ignore among those whispers and break SCP-2316's influence. It almost feels like a phone alarm or someone trying to wake me up from a deep sleep. "You do not recognize the bodies in the water" Also it just sounds really cool.
It reminds me of the message from when day breaks. That TV message trying to convince you to go outside always hit so different. Scp robot voice is just really chilling sometimes
Yesss, or something that came to mind, was the ppl who are in the lake died due to a massive mistake the scp foundation did, and very painfully, and their minds/souls are still trapped in their dead bodies.
This is definitely one of the most psychological affecting videos I’ve ever seen on UA-cam. The faces gave me a sense of dread. It’s like they are flashed in such a way that you feel like you’ve seen that person, although you’re told that you don’t know the bodies in the water. Scarily amazing
Addendum: Doctor Bright's illegal, immoral, and unethical usage of a renaissance fair trebuchet and 99 live goats has forcibly reclassified SCP-2316 as Euclid.
Lmao imagine lowering a threat level of an SCP by catapulting goats at it. Very in character though. And it'd work! You can't see bodies or water if it's all goats!
The thing I like the most about the SCP is that on the surface it just seems so simple, and it could have been just that simple, a lake that compels people to drown in it. offputting enough to be a good SCP but fairly basic. however the fact that it's bodies in the water that you know and that is the cognitohazard adds an entirely new level of depth to it that makes it a next level scp which just shows how good @djkaktus is writing
This is always one of my favourite SCP's. On the surface it doesn't seem like much - just a bunch of bodies floating in a lake - but the fact you have to keep repeating that you don't recognise the bodies in the water suggests that something really, really bad is going on here. But that's the thing with cognitohazards: even with all the measures put in place you might still fall for it and be lost. And next thing you know, you are one of the bodies in the water. Because you fell for the cognitohazard, or because you stumbled upon something you shouldn't have?
This one has always had the creepiest vibe to me compared to other SCPs. You do not recognize in the water. The whole thing is just one big unnerving read. It's great. You do not recognize the bodies in the water.
I honestly love the presentation of this video! Being prompted to say “I DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE BODIES IN THE WATER” was a lovely addition of interaction!
“You do not recognize the bodies in the water” is such a great line. Packing so many questions but phrased with such simple straight forward certainty you can’t help but feel uneasy
Holy shit. This may be the most unsettling SCP I've ever seen you do. I legitimately didn't know if I was going to see it to completion. Simply reading the entry on SCP doesn't do it justice. I'm so glad you got the author involved, cause this is probably THE best way to get SCP-2316.
Oh duuuuuude, this SCP stands out as one of the most unsettling SCPs in my mind! The phrase "you do not recognize the bodies in the water" has been engraved in my mind as something truly... disquieting, and I don't know if I'm ready to take a listen to this while I'm lying sick in bed at night, but I'll definitely take a listen to it later

The presentation of this vid makes it one of the creepiest you've ever done, and your performance during the interview log was particularly strong. Great work as always, dude.
I swear, everything related to the Class of 76 is next level storytelling. The entire Remembrance storyline is incredible and really gives a necessary amount of weight to an otherwise stupid SCP like SCP-2000.
Go look at the remembrance story if you haven’t already. It doesn’t give a lot of help towards this SCP, but it connects the rest of the class of 76 SCPs really well. It’s also a bit sad. Highly recommend.
"Just stay on the bridge, Timmie. Just stay where it's safe, warm, and dry. Stay with the pigeons, I'm sure one of them will be back with a letter for you soon..."
For some reason, I love how it sounds when the play the "You do not recognize the bodies in the water". It's between unsettling and sorta 80s arcade game. It's fantastic!
Let me just tell you: These are my favorite kinds of SCP reads from you. Ones that have the added effects and the creepy cognito doodads. Pleeeeease do more of these in the future. It adds so much to your already amazing production and performance.
This is the most unnerving one on this channel. I started this one while walking home from a store at 10PM. I can swear I've had my body temp rising. Amazing.
The ones that don't rely on typical horror are my favorites, because I find something that mixes storytelling with incredible discomfort and existential dread is always more terrifying than something that's just a standard horror-esque monster or setting. It's why all my favorite SCPs are the ones with extensive exploration or interview logs, or where the SCP itself seems to be intertwined with the article.
@@shinluis had to do a bit of googling to remember the numbers, but the ones I'll try to list the ones I've read that stuck with me. The first one is SCP-1689, which at first glance doesn't seem scary but has a surprisingly dark exploration log with even scarier implications. SCP-093 is also one I really enjoyed, which has substantial exploration logs that are both chilling in a suspenseful horror sense but also because of the insight into how humans can be the makers of their own destruction. SCP-2000 is one that looks at the question "why hasn't humanity been wiped out by one of these apocalyptic SCPs yet?" and responds with "who says they haven't?" SCP-3999 is a long, surreal, and deeply psychologic look into both how fragile reality can be and how dangerous a person's inner demons can be. It won't make sense your first time reading it, but there is something deeper going on there. That's all the ones I remember off the top of my head. I know there's more, but I can't really remember enough details about them to find them. So instead, just for fun, I'll recommend SCP-1839, which nothing like the others and is a short and humorous SCP that explains why you're a fish.
This might be my favorite cognitohazard SCP. There’s just something so damn unsettling about it especially because I’ve been traumatised by lakes. When I was 14 I almost drowned in a lake. Being moments away from death definetely scarred me for life.

Or maybe people of different universes are affected by different cognito hazards? So a congito hazard of our world would affect another universe as little as their cognito hazards affect us.

Actually the scp universe is sealed by my omega reality stabilizer so yeah
I love how this can be the organization gaslighting and dealing with whoever finds evidence of what happened to the kids or a 100% true cognitohazard that distorts your perception and makes you think this way; This is cognitohazard done right, this true uncerntainty of "in wich information being conveyed to me can I trust?" really does put in perspective how we depend on our perception and how even the CHANCE that it might be altered can drastically make us doubt what we think is the truth

What was the class of '76?

My head cannon after the interview: The SCP manifested specifically because of something someone did. Some sort of terrible crime.
Yesss, or something that came to mind, was the ppl who are in the lake died due to a massive mistake the scp foundation did, and very painfully, and their minds/souls are still trapped in their dead bodies.
I agree, we need to find out what the Foundation did. We need to know. The bodies can tell us, we just need to get a little closer…

SCP-093 is also one I really enjoyed, which has substantial exploration logs that are both chilling in a suspenseful horror sense but also because of the insight into how humans can be the makers of their own destruction.
SCP-2000 is one that looks at the question "why hasn't humanity been wiped out by one of these apocalyptic SCPs yet?" and responds with "who says they haven't?"
SCP-3999 is a long, surreal, and deeply psychologic look into both how fragile reality can be and how dangerous a person's inner demons can be. It won't make sense your first time reading it, but there is something deeper going on there.
