On the other hand though, when I watch the first one, a lot of times I let the end credits go just to hear this song.

Last week they had a Chucky movie marathon on Encore all day long with the first 5 movies and rewatching the very first one just gave me chills and brought back so many memories. 29 years ago this released and it's still a phenomenon.

This embodies the trauma it'd bring to Andy going forth and with it every child watching on its release. Kinda reminds me that I don't have a taste with what modern horror brings nowadays with a few exclusions.
It's designed to do that by using a very strange Scale, plus the arrangement consists of "ahhs" created by sampling the composers own voice, Juno strings, a very inimitable synth bass with high attack, & it's balanced out with a Toy Piano & mallet instruments which deliberately sound innocent. This is called a mood chicane. It also has a very unorthodox Time signature of 8/16, instead of your average 4/4. Then there's the dynamics; listen carefully & you'll hear that the song starts off quieter & gets louder naturally as more emphasis kicks in. It's a very well designed piece, because it breaks all the rules of convention. Not to take away from CP2 OST, but they tackled it with a conventional orchestra.
That original film was so good. The way it even made the city of Chicago a dark & imposing character. One that welcomed Andy and Charles to move throughout it for Chuckie's devious plans. Clive Barker did the same thing with the city in the original Candyman. Both such classics.
This song translates very well Andy's lost Childhood as your destroyed Innocence as well. Far from your mother, rejected by people who dont believe or can even imagine this child's heavy burden. Andy continues to fight alone to overcome the curse brought by the toy who him used to loved so much... Very Sad, indeed.
I think endings like Child's Play are key factors to a good Horror movie. Yes, the Antagonist was defeated but not without significant loss. This theme really reflects on that feeling.

I guess this song is a master piece. Such a beautiful song with suave beats and a soothing chorus voice as if it was a child's lulaby, but every once in a while there are beats which get intense, as if a nightmare tried to sneak in, but each time it happens, the chorus doubles like a mother trying her hardest to get her baby to sleep, finally in the end with her voice prevailing but slowly fading, now with the child sleeping safe and sound, and the mother's sacrifice keeping it alive. ... I made this way more depressing apologies
I remember the first time the final scene freeze frame just happened to be when Andy was leaving and he turned to look at Chucky through the door... that was like in the late 80's I first saw it when I was 4 or 5 yrs of age.
Ironic, as a kid, Chucky was my worst nightmare, I was afraid of him up til the end of my elementary years. Now that I'm 20, he is my number 1 favorite horror movie villain.

I remember the first time the final scene freeze frame just happened to be when Andy was leaving and he turned to look at Chucky through the door... that was like in the late 80's I first saw it when I was 4 or 5 yrs of age.

The original version with Brad dourif will always be the classic that started it all just not the same without original voice of chucky why remake a classic?if it ain't broke don't fix it.. I was in junior high when the original in 88 opened in theaters good scary times though..

Chucky simboliza todo aquello que corrompe a los niños hoy en día, la violencia en todo sus aspectos, la pedofilia, la violencia física y psicológica, abandono, etc. Es tan cruel que la vida de Andy es un completo infierno, y hasta siente culpa ya que todos aquellos que se acercan a él son asesinados por Chucky. Es un sentimiento que sólo lo deben conocer aquellos que han pasado así, una infancia traumática. Una herida podrá sanar en la piel, pero otras que llevarás en el alma nunca. Hasta los más psicópatas del cine terror han tenido compasión por los niños, como Jason o Freddy, pero Chucky rompe todos los límites.

Why am I crying so hard I remember me as a 8 year old I asked my mom to let me go see a horror movie called childs play she said it looked really scary but she said OK so we went after 83 mins
Later we finished the movie my mom was really scared but I loved it and still to this day I still remember all the kills and I love the whole series soooooooooo much and childs play (1988) will always be my favorite movie ever

Absolutely!!! The vocals in in the updated version is overdone and sounds so hollow where the original arrangement sounds full
They’re both good in their own way. The old one relies more on instrumentals while the newer version relies more on vocals.

This song is sick, and not just because is in a movie of Chucky, It's because.... it's in the credit's, And in the last scene (before the credits) Andy sees Chucky with a not-finished look on his face, Giving us to understand two things:
1) that there will be a sequel lol
2) THAT THE DAMNED DOLL GAVE THE POOR CHILD TRAUMA, Like a scar in his hearth... That it will never heal.

This score was perfect for the ending of the movie. To be honest I hope they play it at the end credits of the new remake this summer. It's has that innocence being traumatized by something sinister and knowing that things will never be the same afterwards.

I just realized that this credits version of the track is different from the "main theme" version. I still love both, though.
I never understood why it was only pressed in France. And the only film in the trilogy to be released at all...what a shame...
