I'm 66 years young listening to 80's music most of the time. Loved this movie and this song. I watch it every now and then with daughters and grandkids. Will now be adding my soon to be, two years old great-granddaughter. She is a country girl in high gear. Peace and love to all.
It’s been 27 years since my mum passed. I can still hear her singing this to me, trying to get me to sleep. Still my favourite song of all time. Can’t get through it without breaking though.

I'm with you brother. When I was explaining the meaning of the movie to my kids I started crying. The Nothing is adulthood trying to wipe out childhood. Imaginations from the Otherside by Blind Guardian is about the same thing. Adulthood creeps in trying to wipe out our childhood, making us forget the fairy tales, the adventures of Tom Sawyer, Robinson Crusoe, Bilbo and Frodo, King Arthur. I refuse to let it wipe out my memory, imagination.

I am in my 80's and lost my first wife in 1984. We were living in Bahrain at the time and the movie and this theme song had just been released. Every time I hear it I am still reduced to tears.

I loved this song in "The Neverending Story" - a sad but heartwarming tale when a bereaved only child, whose mother passed away immerses himself in a fantasy world around a magical book in this true 80s classic. Not sure if the later stuff measures up, but will check it out.
I only remember a little of the second one, but I'm pretty curious now. However, the one or two that followed that were an absolute joke. Totally frivolous, low-budget kids stuff.

The Summer of 1984 was such a good time for movies: Sixteen Candles, Temple of Doom, Ghostbusters and Gremlins (released the same weekend!), The Karate Kid, NeverEnding Story, Purple Rain, Red Dawn. Classics. All classics.

The kid who starred in the sequel which I also loved, Jonathan Brandis, committed suicide due to depression. Leaves a lasting pain in my heart when I watch the movies and sometimes when I listen to the theme song.

I watched the movie with my 7 year old yesterday and it aged very well. She loved it and was genuinely sad when Artax died. I told her a whole generation of kids felt the exact same way....we all remember the scene. This must be the most nostalgic song ever for us 80s kids.

When my students say, “that song is from Stranger Things,” I must correct them and say, “uh no no no no, The Neverending Story.” ***Now, I have to edit this, to be fair, my students made a good point. The remake of of this song was tastefully done in the show...I approve wholeheartedly...

I thought this lovely movie was about growing up or never doing so, dealing with death or loss in general. In the end learning perseverance. I watched the movie today. I am so inspired.

I loved this song in "The Neverending Story" - a sad but heartwarming tale when a bereaved only child, whose mother passed away immerses himself in a fantasy world around a magical book in this true 80s classic. Not sure if the later stuff measures up, but will check it out.
If you treasure your memories of the original, I would avoid the sequels like The Nothing!
I only remember a little of the second one, but I'm pretty curious now. However, the one or two that followed that were an absolute joke. Totally frivolous, low-budget kids stuff.
And the book the movie was based on was written by Michael _Ende_ .

i have the best memory with this song. i was only 3 or 4 and i was sitting in the car with my mom when i first heard this song. i started bawling and looked at her. i said “mommy, i feel so much right here” (i was holding my hand over my heart) and it was just pure amazing

I watched the movie with my 7 year old yesterday and it aged very well. She loved it and was genuinely sad when Artax died. I told her a whole generation of kids felt the exact same way....we all remember the scene. This must be the most nostalgic song ever for us 80s kids.
