2:45 You just mentioned the key phrase: "big creator".
It really feels like UA-cam prioritizes big creators these days, leaving smaller creators struggling.
I used to get 5K to 10K views on my videos, but now I’m lucky to reach 500 to 1,000, and often even less. Some viewers have told me they hadn’t seen my content in years because they assumed I had stopped making videos. UA-cam no longer recommends my videos to my own subscribers. I have 22K subscribers, yet only a small fraction of them see my content. Why are only 500 people out of 22K watching? I’ve experimented with different formats and content styles, but nothing seems to help. Something is clearly off with the recommendation system, and I hope UA-cam considers adjusting its algorithms to better support creators of all sizes.
As a viewer, I also notice that UA-cam often recommends videos from many years ago, videos I have no interest in rewatching or that I’ve already seen when they were first uploaded. At the same time, I’m frequently shown content from big creators that doesn’t align with my interests. What I really want is recommendations from the channels I’ve subscribed to and from similar creators.
Another concern I’ve noticed is that UA-cam seems to favor videos based on their potential revenue generation. Shorter videos with minimal ads tend to get very few views, around 200-300, while longer videos (45 minutes or more) with multiple mid-roll ads perform significantly better, sometimes tripling in views. Meanwhile, short news-style videos struggle, and even long-running series see a sharp decline after the first episode, where the first video gets about 1,000 views, but later episodes drop below 500.
I truly appreciate UA-cam as a platform, but I hope these issues can be addressed to create a fairer experience for all creators, big and small.
Yes because Big Creators Pay there Pockets More so they get more help or more of everything it seems.
I totally agree. I have over 150K subs and get around 2-3K views in about a week. YT is no longer the same. They probably lost some ad revenue to other platforms and they tweaked the recommendation system/algorithm to match their business needs and to maximize their revenues. It's not about the creators (big creators are an exception). It's about the company making more and more revenue. Like Uber. They take a good amount of money from drivers even when the drivers make little. It's not worth it anymore. Kind of a like a slavery system. They own the platform and you have to work for them whatever the conditions are . If you don't like it, there's tons of other people that are in line to do the job. It's an employer's market, basically! 😥
this disatifaction from youtubers opens a big oportunity for competitor platforms unless youtube improve its weakness.
yep, this.
Yes, 100% accurate.
Honestly, with youtube, you're either lucky or you're not. Sadly, I am not. Going on 4 years now and still completely struggling to grow. I've tried every which way and back again to no avail. I think all this algo talk is all just BS as it seems there's nothing I can do to actually see better results. I've mostly given up here, focusing on another platform. Pay sucks here as well, a year's worth of pay doesn't even cover a month of my expenses for my channel. 👎
We just want our subscribers to also have our content show up on their feed. Tired of getting subscribers thinking I've stopped posting videos just because the algorithm is odd. Was getting more views when I was under 10k subscribers compared to 100k now. It makes no sense and the only response I get from support is "make sure to tell your subscribers to turn all notifications on", how can I tell them when 99% of my subscribers don't see me on their feed lmao? Y’all recommend content to new viewers, they subscribe and poof our content vanishes from their feed.
Agree 100%. Exactly same situation here
I agree
Right!!??
the same here
Send out notifications via email. Bring back the old system or X will take over video and win big.
As a smaller creator, my issue is when a video does well on my channel and I try to replicate that video and it doesn’t do well. I feel like I don’t know what to do next. The old school way was that the “secret is in the success.” So you would always just replicate your good videos and you would tend to consistently grow, but now it doesn’t seem like that at all. I feel very torn on what to do.
If the algorithm is designed to recommend videos based on what will "make me happy", then based on the recommendations I see I have a problem.
🤣
We want the ability to segment CTR for new viewers and CTR for returning viewers. It’s so mind blowing that we don’t have that yet.
It's in Advanced Analytics > More > new vs returning viewers.
See your stats, only 2% of your subscribers watch your videos 😂
Correct, the people have been asking for Crash Team Racing for years
I don't understand why UA-cam simply stops showing the video even though it is performing well. It keeps on working well but all of sudden you will see that your videos is no longer getting recommended. It gets stuck at a fixed value. This is really something I want to know why it happens. Can anyone explain?
yes bro i need to know this
i get 300 views in the first 10 minutes, then at 11 minutes its still 300. 3 hours later and its 301.
@@Xelokz right 🤧...this is actually crazy how algorithm is killing the reach. A gradual decline is understandable but all of sudden video views get stuck at one single value and don't move. It feels like the videos are getting shadow banned after some exposure. UA-cam needs to fix this.
@neuraldemy exactly
I already reported that to the federal courts of the U.S.A. UA-cam's source code is visibly rigged for users where another personnel or system is switching-on-and-off other users at-will, both manually and automatically. It's a scam.
I don't feel that was "Explained!" I was hopeful and looking for a "Do this" and your video will be recommended. Way to vague still.
agree
the only thing they always say!
They are just here to gaslight.
That's all this channel does.
@loucostabile Like politicians. They always talk around things without actually talking about the thing.
Maybe Trump and Elon will eventually straighten them out? Remember UA-cam staff implementing all that shadow blocking, video take downs and channel shutdowns that occurred during COVID and the elections? Nothing is said about that now and there were no apologies either. Time for the reckoning.
why cant there be an algorithm AND have it the way it used to be? it makes no logical sense for someone to subscribe to a channel, and never get notified of new uploads by that person. i dont understand why you decided to mute everyone and give them the option to turn it back on, vs leaving notifications on but giving the viewer the option to turn them off. its extremely counterintuitive. on every other social media site, if i follow someone, i see their posts. but youtube is the only site where you can actively sub to someone, turn notifications on, and NEVER get notified of them. i have friends and family that have had my notifications set to "all" and havent seen a video of mine pop up for them in years despite my content being the same as it always has been. it seems like the only time i can ever get something pushed in the algorithm is when i decide to heavily clickbait.
I look at my shorts, they have 70-30 or 80-20 swipe ratio and 130+% retention, yet they get stuck at 400 views for months and months. I will never understand this.
We have the same issue here in Ecuador shorts get 450 then die off even with incredibly high car and long views. I have a feeling you’re not in the US
Same
Thank you!! Always capping our views to never cross 500 view
its a big prob
same
We have a small channel that we created a few years ago, with around 300 videos, all featuring original scripts and video editing, but it didn’t get many views. but after some big channels stole 100% of our ideas, they started getting millions of views and are still earning from the ideas we originally created. This is how your algorithm works, so stop it TOAD.
what is the name of your channel
As New youtuber the message from this video very encouraging. Thanks so much
I'm a new youtuber, just feeling sad after reading your comment. 😢
So the algorithm ignores what channels the viewer actually subscribes to and instead presents what the algorithm thinks you want to watch?
Many subscribers tell me they didn’t know I was making new videos because they didn’t see them in their feed.
💯
That's the biggest nightmare! Subscribers asking me, "Why did you stop making videos?"
Actually, I subscribed to this channel and I didn't remember that UA-cam recommended me this video. I've just found it today (12 days after!) by manually opening the channel page and looking at the channels uploads.
its called notification BELL haha
Quite often videos show as recommended and if I don't watch it right away or save it then I never see it in my recommendations again. Good videos are missing out by not getting suggested again
I agree. I notice the same thing happening in recommended videos. Often, if my page refreshes for any reason, other vids come up.
@CourtneyDeez Yeah, and you know if it's happening as we watch then our videos are also missing potential viewers.
Add them to your watch later if they are something you intend on coming back to.
@DougHewsonYT As I mentioned in the original comment, yes, you can save videos, but I've had plenty of other times where the page will refresh and I'll never see those videos again. I'm just saying the algorithm should suggest things more.
There will never be a perfect system for this, especially since the system is viewer centric, and the viewer either didn’t watch or didn’t «save for later» there are so many new videos being published that if Yt should keep suggesting the same video (that someone didn’t click or save) creators would complain that too few videos where given a shot, since suggesting the same video several times would «shut out» other videos from getting exposure.
That being said: My experience is that if a video shows on my home feed, and I don’t watch it, and refresh the yes new videos show up - but: after refreshing a couple of times some of the first videos showed are shown again if they have traction/are popular for a while. But the best thing to do is to save for later, or watch a little, to keep it in your «watched» history for later :)
I give you an example of failure of the algorithm. Big creator does a video 3 years ago, obviously it gets millions of views, the game itself has been updated many times in that time making the video after three years irrelevant. Yet again when you search 3 years later that video is still on top, sort of ripping everyone else off.
As my request to UA-cam team , just like you provide a copyright detection system at upload, I request you to implement a similar system for reused content and policy violations. This would help creators get instant alerts before publishing, allowing them to stay compliant and avoid issues later.
This will also save creators’ time and ensure that the one or two years of effort they put into their channel is not wasted due to unexpected violations.
100%
I've noticed that when uploading videos the process of categorizing our videos is extremely vague and severely limited. UA-cam needs to change this ASAP. UA-cam should offer many more categories / subcategories for us to place our video into. For example if I wanted to post a hunting video my only related choices would be "Entertainment" or "Sports".....pretty vague. A better option would be Sports - Outdoors - Hunting - Deer Hunting - Gun Hunting - Etc.......this is a more defined category that allows the creator to tell the audience what the video is about, instead of leaving it up to the UA-cam algorithm to guess on what its about and promote to people who are not interested. This is just one of the many flaws of the Algorithm. They also need to have different algorithm standard for promotion and recommendation when uploading new videos for creators with 10 subscribers vs 500,000 subscribers because small subscribers don't have such a huge base of subscribers to draw from which alters the data even more in favor of larger channels. Therefore most every video a large channel created goes viral and gets promoted heavily and is featured on most all recommendation pages. In addition, UA-cam needs to do a better job of promoting older videos that creators have spent valuable time on. So tired of playing and watching the Keyword, Titling, and Thumbnail Game! Take my opinion for what ever it's worth.......Good luck to all the new UA-cam channels and creators! PLEASE PROVIDE MORE CATEGORIES & SUBCATEGORIES WHEN UPLOADING VIDEOS and correlate it with recommendation and search algorithms.
I agree with this comment for sure !!!
I was shocked to see such limited options
💯 agrree with the limited categories...😊
Try posting your hunting video in the *ANIMAL ABUSE* category.
Or in the *"I'm a criminal"* category.
the algorithm is not based off of what category you put your video in anymore anyways so don't worry about that part, just make sure your description thumbnail and title are as good as you can make them
I find that we work so hard creating content to capture viewers. So, you capture them as a subscriber only for UA-cam to unsubscribe them. Now I know UA-cam says, "We're cleaning unused accounts" however I have had hundreds and hundreds of emails asking where I went, and that they were unsubscribed. I also watch how the money I'm paid in the beginning of each month is high, well by UA-cam terms, and the minute I post a video the money goes down immediately, before UA-cam would even have a clue if the video will do well. I used to love creating here but find myself using other platforms more & more, mainly because I can't survive here financially anymore, I've never had to do this in the past.
The bad thing is there are hardly any alternatives. TikTok does not pay so what else do we have?
My favorite has been UA-cam deleting just enough subs every month to keep me under 150k for the last 3 years.
@@billyhellmaker Screeaccchhh I spy with my little eyes
what other platforms do you recommend?
One thing that needs to be fixed is shorts/longs, were short audience effects a long videos performance ( short audience is in a 30 second mind frame , They come to your channel watch for a few seconds then leave and that negatively effects your long video performance
Yeah, they should do something about it
When you are going through a rough patch, just keep going. Your next video might be the one that changes everything. Good luck 👍 everyone
What can you do about those creators doing LIVE but it's just SHORTS video doing LOOPING. Is that legal?
The underlying assumption here is that “the algorithm” gets the target audience for all content right. Based on personal experience I have my doubts on whether this is the case. Could you please explain how this works? If only I knew how to make sure (or was able to see) the people my content is shown to, because without this information all other metrics are useless to gauge the quality of my videos anyway.
How would you like to be able to see this?
One place we consistently show your videos is to your subscribers in the subscription tab and to subscribers who have opted to receive All (not just Personalized notifications. I've found many creators to be surprised at hiw many of their subscribers choose not to watch when they see their videos. It's a lot more common for us to show a video to a user who is highly qualified to watch and they choose not to. Overall, we see viewers that we notify based on videos we recommend to perform multiples better than ones the user specifically asked for, suggesting the targeting overall is beneficial.
Our incentives are aligned. We don't want to recommend your video to someone who doesn't want to watch it.
@@todd-youtube thanks for your response!
I want to preface by saying I’m coming from a sub-1000-average-viewcount viewpoint. Meaning more often than not I don’t get any data for “videos that show your videos in recommended” for example (which I think is an indicator of what YT thinks my target audience is).
All videos (i assume) get indexed/categorized/tagged in some way before it is recommended to someone. I assume that for people like me, without having an existing viewer base, the system has to rely on what I provide (the video itself, description, tags, title, category, etc). However, I think I’ve read/heard before that description etc. are not really considered. This is all good if what you talk about in the video is enough for the algorithm to understand what the video is about (and with it the target audience. I guess it’s smart enough to link those together). Unfortunately, for things like gaming videos I can imagine this is not always as easy.
I’m fully aware this problem I think exists is based on multiple assumptions stacked together. But given that the algorithm always analyzes the theme of a video to at least try to get it to in front of the right audience, why not show the creator what it came up with? Something like “we think your video would appeal to viewers of these videos/creators”, or “we believe your video is about xyz”. Something like that. Even better would be to let the creator give input if it gets it wrong.
I will try and come up with an actual solution to maybe draw inspiration from. I’m writing this before going to bed. I just got excited about my comment being noticed.
@@todd-youtube i’m having trouble tagging you in the reply I hope you’ll still read.I think it’s because if pasting my comment in from my note app or something. Please have a look, it’s in this thread, below this comment I think.
UA-cam seriously has to look into the cross-recommendation functionality of the algorithm. Recommendations based on what other viewers with a similar portfolio regularly enjoy absolutely makes sense. But it seems to be totally decoupled from individual viewer feedback regarding those recommendations. This is anecdotal of course. But I have had channels hitting the top twenty in my recommendations for every single video they released for months. Without me ever watching a single video on that channel and giving feedback that i don't like the video repeatedly. UA-cam must have dozens of data points that the channel isn't for me and still the only way to get rid of it is to ban the channel completely from being recommended. Making these kind of observations makes it hard to look at the algorithm in good faith.
Content creators often talk about one video that the algorithm picked up and generated 100x more views than their average. This demonstrates that this "user delivery" talk is only part of the story (if not, mostly nonsense). Why do some videos generate 100x or 1000x more views that other videos by the same creator? No, the breakthrough videos are NOT significantly different. Something fishy in the algorithm..
So the take out from this video is that UA-cam themselves have no idea what the algorithm is doing. This video gives creators no concrete advice about what we should focus on to get more views and subscribers.
It's very simple, just forget about algorithm think about audience.. If people love to watch your videos you will get success..
@@jackshulka428 Hi, that's not possible for smaller channels. If they don't have an audience they will not be able to tell when they are improving or not. So forgetting about algorithm is not an option, it's the only way to tell if people are watching your content and where they click away at in the video. If you do not understand the algorithm, you could have the greatest video in the world, but if you have the wrong title, no one will watch it ever.
Lol the algorithm itself is based on the audience. Replace it with that. Because that's what it's based on. And that was the original point of the comment. @@LegendaryMethod
@UrbanNoizeMusic I don't think you are understanding my point. If someone has 2 views on their content and only get 1 to 2 views per video, they will not be able to figure out how to improve, If they do not study the analytics and algorithm. I speak from experience. I didn't get views until I watched a bunch analytics and algorithm videos. It sounds cool to say the "audience", but it's just not true for most people. For example, if they don't know that the title and thumbnail increase CTR, they could have a really good video, no one will click. How would they know, if nothing tells them?
@@LegendaryMethod it's not algorithm that increases ctr, it's the audience who click on the video and watch it, so when you make title and thumbnail just think like an audience. That's what i do..
*For creators who dedicate hours researching, filming real B-rolls, and pouring their energy and soul into a video, my question is: even if AI-generated videos and human-made content serve different purposes, will AI-generated videos receive the same level of recommendations as those featuring a real person speaking directly to the camera?*
What matters most is the value that the audience perceives from the content.
@todd-youtube Thank you so much for responding, Todd! As a creator from Toronto, I really appreciate your insight. I was wondering, is it possible to have AI-generated content based on the history of videos we’ve uploaded in the past, say with up to 500 videos featuring my face? Do you think UA-cam could help create new AI videos with our own voice and style? And if that’s possible, could UA-cam provide protection with an AI watermark to let the audience know the video was AI-generated? Would love to hear your thoughts on this!
@@alfredoistic UA-cam creators that use AI that looks realistic is supposed to mark it. Then when a viewer reads the description there is a disclaimer stating that it's not real.
As new creator how many shorts should i try to make in a 24 hour time period?

Most of my videos show how to do cupping therapy. Do you have any ideas why most of the content suggesting my videos is very graphic, indecent content that has nothing to do with cupping therapy or my channel's content? I'm confused that my videos are not suggested on other cupping therapy channel's content that are about my exact same niche and topics⁉
The issue here is that when small channels copy others' ideas, they get flagged for reused content. But when big channels do it, they don’t. Imagine small channels putting in the effort to write scripts and edit videos, only for big channels to scout them, steal their ideas, and profit from them-while the small channels that originally created the content don’t even get views or a single subscriber for their hard work, and this is how your algorithm works TOAD.

THIS^^ Grind hard plumbing and Cars and Cameras over and over again.
Facts!
I follow a lot of channels and its sad that a notification will pop up saying
' blah blah" uploaded a new video and when I get there I find out the video has been live for days!! As a viewer this is disappointing and as a creator it explains why ,my own subscribers haven't seen my newest video. they literally comment that they just got notified days and weeks later......
Feel lucky your channel even sends them out at all. UA-cam hasn't sent them for mine in over a year.
I have a years worth of videos that are completely wiped from search results.
💭 "We want to build a relationship with our audience just as creators want to do with fans" the more valuable the content the more people are coming back to UA-cam in the long run. That's not only the goal of UA-cam but also of the creator.
As a UA-cam viewer I often watch pretty short "wide" (not UA-cam shorts) videos. They are 1-2 minutes long, up to 5 minutes for music videos, for example. And I can watch some amount of such videos in a row... And after that UA-cam recommendations become "broken" and the main page stucks filled by the videos of the same topic I've just watched. And only way to "reset" them is to search and watch something else manually. This is very annoying for me as a viewer and also make me think that it can affect the creators too, lowing up their CTR.
Please create more content about the process for having a channel accepted onto the UA-cam Kids app. There is very little information out there. Thank you.
This is really hearting the creators and users. Switching to the wrong approach in how to help the user while your algorithm always suggests irrelevant things, instead of how to help video as in the past which worked great. The new approach is resulting in every video having poor performance and not being picked up by the algorithm, therefore dramatically less views across the entire platform! For all creator videos, less monetization, and forcing creators to leave the platform. This has spiraled into a serious decline in views for 2-3 years now for all channels/creators. We can see many channels that have high quilt content just a big decline in views and reach because they aren't getting recommended by the algorithm to enough viewers. After publishing video gets recommended, if you don't watch it immediately it doesn't show up as much and you never see it again and it doesn't get promoted at all. This is financially speaking not viable and creators are switching to other platforms.
after 6 days my channel gets no views. I'm sure the algo dislikes me. shadowbanned is the term that comes to mind.
I hate this growing trend of staged Karens or any staged scenario that is not designed to be entertaining. It’s designed to make you believe it’s real and comment out of outrage or sympathy. Then you feel foolish and your sense of reality is broken.
This is why it is important to support the channels you really like by subscribing liking and commenting on every video or even tipping financial donations.
What about shopping videos? Are they shown to audiences that would be more likely to buy the tagged products?
as a viewer the YT algo is working very well for me for last few months, but as a creator maybe not very much
but i am hopeful
You have been speaking about multi language audio feature more than a year now - when will it be available?
We did notice a sudden drop in views about mid-December. And now it seems like the algorithm isn't finding our "people" as well as it did before. Without much of a feedback loop on analytics, we're not sure how to improve or optimize, so our strategy right now is to just stay consistent at making quality music videos and hope that this might just be a seasonality thing and our older catalog of videos will find an audience some day.
What should be the niche/category for forex/crypto trading live and teaching?
As a viewer and a creator I hate the recommendations UA-cam gives me. One of the reasons I don’t watch much UA-cam anymore
As a newish UA-camr, I'm finding it so hard to grow. 633 subs and if I don't hit 1000 this year I might just give up. I think it's more about UA-cam pushing out what works best for them, not me.
What I do not understand, to this day is, why my subscribers that have activated the 'all' notifications, why they do not get notifications? Same as my members! I can set a live stream, schedule it for 2 or 3 days in advance, and the feedback I get is 'I did not get a notification'. Of course, I have to trust that they have in fact, activated the 'all' notifications... so.... if that is something that others are also experiencing, please can UA-cam take a moment to make the notifications more efficient. Thank you
"PULLING" that's the keyword I guess....
9:56 We're waiting for multi language audio feature for a long time 🙏🙏🙏
We have been indeed. I have the automatic one. I post in Spanish and the auto English dub sucks.
I want to upload my own dubbing.
Cash flows from advertising go to certain channels, even if the channel literally sucks. The two steps that UA-cam took are simply a mockery of the creators of the videos.
1. You are now posting ads on all channels, violating the rights of the creators of the videos. They cannot actually object, since they have literally become slaves to the expectation of monetization.
2. And what have you done with monetization! You have raised the bar so high that even good channels cannot raise it. And all that your so-called algorithm does is avoid paying 55%, probably 99% of creators, making them "slaves to expectation".
Maybe you can elaborate on this topic? I think your "partners" on UA-cam who have lost monetization or whose income from it has decreased by 10-20 times should be united into a group to protect consumers of your so-called "services"
What factors determine whether a video can break into a new audience segment that hasn’t watched my content before?
Serious question: What I have notice that YT gave INSANE Boost in Views to tottally new channels that started uploading mostly short videos and even for just re-uploading videos from Tic Toc and i got never such a boost for hard work in 19 years...just strange YT want to push new channels and totally forget about OGs, what do you think about this? Why no rewards for making Videos Full Videos and Livestrems too? Thank you YT team for hard work behind the scene.
Yeah, he statement that UA-cam doesn’t push certain videos is questionable.

Can someone clarify what was being referred to at the 17 minute mark about looking at the subscription Tab?
This source is under the Browser Features source and helps you understand how well your subscribers-your core audience-click on your videos and how long they watch. The CTR from this source will show whether your most loyal audience finds your thumbnails and titles appealing, and which topics performed better or worse for them. Based on this, you can determine which topics are worth continuing and which ones might not be.
In the Subscriptions feed, videos appear in chronological order, so the metrics from this feed are the ‘purest’ on your channel without algorithmic interference. They reflect the most engaged audience.
Analyze the CTR from this feed for your videos and take the average as your channel’s current baseline CTR. This is your starting point, which you should aim to gradually improve.
Let's go little channels!!! We got this!!! Let's stick together!!!
A question about Subscribers: Can UA-cam remove subscribers themselves? I'm still new, my channel is under one year old, got only 200 subscribers 😅 But sometimes I see the number is just decreasing without the reflection on the analytics report that somebody unsubscribed him/herself.
Todd FTW!
Great content, thank you. Can you help me with the part of the discussion at 16:15 when you talk about the subscriptions tab? I admittedly am a bit confused by this, as I wasn't aware that we can see another user's subscriptions. Any intel would be greatly appreciated!
It's about looking at Traffic Sources > Browse Features > Subscriptions in Analytics and comparing multiple videos from your channel to see how a consistent audience is reacting without any recommendations algorithms involved.
@@todd-youtube Thank you! I appreciate the beta on this, and will dive in!
10:40 I still don’t understand how that language dubbing works in terms of uploads. Should you have two videos in different languages or the one video will have both languages dubbed in it? Like with subtitles.

Why did my video have 0 impressions (0 shown in feed)?
I'd be interested in knowing more how the shorts feed recommendation works, with the absence of titles and thumbnails. Especially why a couple of videos on a similar topic, with very similar swipe rate and view percentage can gave a wildly different amount of 'impressions' and views.
Thanks for the video.

I‘m on the edge of giving up. Had a good run at the beginning with very good performance and everyone and their dog thought I would lift off with the quality of my content. Then everything dropped out of nowhere. Very good CTR, watch time, likes and comments but still ended up with complete impressions stop. No one can really build a sustainable business out of this ever-changing randomness called „the algorithms“
Relax brother, just keep on creating. I seen one of your videos, super high quality bro..don't chase the subs or the views gang. Set goals like "I want to create 3-4 high quality videos this month" as a subset of a larger goal like "I want to make 50 high quality videos this year". Set video goals instead of number goals, much better for your mental health.
@@Bugsmak I'll try bro, thanks for making my day
When you say dubbing video for other languages….what do we have to do with our settings ?
You have the option to push videos to your subscribers or not. What if you don't push it to subscribers because the quality is a little suss or you're experimenting on something they might not like. How does UA-cam know who to push it too?
I have seen UA-cam promoting some newer Creators but what about small Creators that don't have a new UA-cam channel some people seem to have been lost in the void.
dude...exactly !!! We are lost in void for sure
When are you releasing dubbing for more channels?
my biggest issue is when i look at a videos pay out per 1,000 then bassed on the videos that do better in return i may advertise. then after a week i go back to see the #'s. Then i notice the payout drops to cents on the $$. very troubling. untill this is fixed or justified you will lose my advertising $$$.
How much does the algorithm put weight into a video description to determine which audience to show impressions to, other than your own subscribers? Is it 100%, 75%, 25%, etc?
creator question...i assumed that language dubbing was just selected by the viewer ....but it sounded as if i should post a dubbed version locked in each language i am trying to reach....can you explain?
Bring back the feature from the Old Creator Studio in which you could rotate an already livestreamed or uploaded video on the channel in the UA-cam Studio Editor please! And push videos to subscribers with notifications. Thank you for the news!
This info helps a lot. Thank you 👍
I like how the algorithm now favors new and small channels like us 👇👇👇
When will multi-language be generally available?
@16:15 the subscription tab is mentioned. I didn't understand what was being shared. Perhaps an example showing screens might help. Thanks.
Hey Todd, thanks for the helpful input.
I have a question-I have already emailed UA-cam about this and never got a response: since you mentioned you and your team read every comment, I thought I´ll post it here 🙂
I have a fairly new channel, focusing on Meditation. It is going quite well so far - however, my biggest struggle is, that until I have reached 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours I cannot control the ads that pop up right in the middle of a meditation. An ad screaming at you when you have just drifted off into a deep relaxation is an absolute No-Go. I have some viewers who have gotten very angry about this and I am sure that this is massively slowing down my channel from growing. Could you not set the ads up differently for meditation channels? Like playing more ads before and after the video but not inbetween?
Thank you 🙂
Nicole
I see that lots of people put has tag words in the description, does that help get more views?
Here's my grain of sand. I like the new update, "The Chef" model, and hopefully will be smarter to allow us to test new topics that shift a bit from the main channel without having to create a new channel. So far, the "choose a topic that works and hammer on it" leads to less creativity and an overwhelming mouse wheel. I like the idea of other comment here of selecting more specifically the single video topic, going deeper. That could give previous inputs to the algo of who we want to target with that video, and then the algo would work more, over a better defined direction instead of gessing over the whole large group of viewers. Or an improved tags model. IDK i just wish to define a target direction to turn things easier to algos,in addition to the package itself (title, thumb, etc etc)
This exactly!
Hola porque es tan difícil hacer el paso dos para solicitar la monetización cuando se hizo la cuenta adsense antes de cumplir con los requisitos de YPP
Great information. Thanks so much. New UA-camr here. Hello Everyone 😊
I’m new myself. I will check out your channel?
could we get something like series back so you can show that videos are a continuation or in a group with others. like if you are on a video you could have a bit of the recommendations reserved for the other videos in the series. or how it used to be with the blue text next to the title
Very good information , Thankyou 😊
Thanks for sharing useful information 👍👍👍
How to add multiple audio tracks to a video?
There's more room at the top and less competition. There's less room at the bottom and more competition. The algorithm has less mouths to feed at the top, especially as channel count increases.
one of the key issues this method of recommending videos has is the lack of different, new styles of video I fail to have presented to me. this approach assumes that viewers only want to watch what they've already seen. I am seldom recommended a completely new style of video/topic, my feed is just an echo chamber of what I've already seen.
I'm curious to how the LLM is trained to reduce creating a cyclical feedback loop where 'popular' videos are pulled by the audience, creating more popularity and pull for those videos and seemingly stifling new ideas. I hear that the 'algorithm' uses a person's likes to understand what to pull for them, but I would be concerned about getting in a increasingly refined loop of content based on the details what were shared in this video. I also got the feeling that the metrics in the analytics section of the dashboard are just for looks and wont be too helpful for strategizing.
I enjoyed the video though! Thank you!
There are aspects of the system that consider "negative" signals as well, including impressions that don't lead to the user watching, "not interested" and recommendations survey feedback, and dislikes, which help the system avoid over-recommending based on positive feedback.
What matters most is the likelihood that an individual viewer will watch and enjoy the options we are ranking for them specifically.
@@todd-youtube Thank you Todd! The last part of your comment struck a chord with me and reframed the way I think about the recommendation system as a whole. Thanks for taking the time to reply! 😀
But regardless of how much viewers are enjoying the content the AI still has to figure out where to place you and during this process it kills the momentum of a smaller creators channel. I have seen terrible content do well and great content do terrible. The algorithm used to be much more simple to understand. Get good watch time and keep people on the platform, get shared by UA-cam, if people care they click. Now the algorithm claims to priorize good content but not a single person understands it and the inconsistent results and trying to get an AI to understand what humans with souls like to watch. I know my channels topic is no longer one the AI pushes like it used to. But when it ignores metrics of quality like high AVD and positive engagement and only tries to go off metadata it doesn't actually understand, it makes it unpredictable. I get recommended old content from years ago I've already watched and new content is usually irrelevant unless its creators I watch regularly. Small channels I see are irrelevant unless its chess content and that's just because it knows I like the game itself yet it still shows old content from big creators i watched already. Basically what reruns were to TV. To top it off subscribers are meaningless now and never see my content or anyone else they subbed to for that matter. And the fact YT studio rates your video 1-10 makes it hurt even worse when a video you spent days on underperformed. It's terrible for mental health. Especially when a lot of us have plenty else going wrong in life already. @todd-youtube
Is this explanation of the algorithm theoretical, because it doesn't seem to be working like that in practice. My recommendations are all over the place and it's been like that in one way or another for as long as I can remember. Right now it has collapsed into recommending me mostly videos that are less than a minute...as low as 12 seconds. I did not watch a video like that for it to think I would want to watch more. It's also recommending me videos that are from other countries that aren't in English. UA-cam needs to get more clever. You guys gotta hire some people that can figure this out.
Here's what I notice as a small creator:
All of my videos start with a CTR of about 1% which is not a good number. 9/10 videos stop getting recommended after that. The other 1/10 will get more impressions and the CTR goes up and levels at a much better 5% and it keeps getting views. This tells me that UA-cam isn't giving my videos enough of a chance before quiting recommending them. Most of my subscribers never even know the video exists which is a huge problem because that hurts the CTR early on. I could actually build the channel more if this was something the algorithm didn't mess up
There should be a “Join Channel Members” end screen option. Just like the subscribe button option.
I started my first channel in August 2024. New videos had 3 days to find an audience. That changed in November. With this channel, I've noticed new videos only get 12 hours. How are new channels supposed to grow without a fair chance to find an audience?
Explains why small channels are getting a lot more traction now
its all who you want to feature simple as that
It's good to be here not just to hear but to listen and to learn 😊 🙏🏾
*Thanks sir for sharing the nice video with us*👌
Awesome information. Thank you very much👍👍👍👍👍
Infact we the smaller creators are really suffering in pushing our channel and our videos. But still we’re not going to look down
important notification Thank You Sir
