After owning this truck since it came out it’s been one of the best vehicles I’ve ever been in and never has let me down. Can’t speak for every owner of this truck but man I love it even to this day. Good job Chevy
@@ivandiazrduboiz2302 yes indeed. Chevy l96 whatever transmission is not the best but it’ll last at least in my case. Just has a funky shift from 2nd to 3rd gear but Chevy techs told me that’s normal of that transmission.
I look back at my 2014 EVERY time I walk away.....it just looks so perfect as a Double Cab White WT with black 18s on 32s and black grille and bumpers with blacked out windows.
I disagree. Every single truck has their ups and downs, and every single one has something that is better than the others.I wish that one company would make truck that was built to last and had every single option to make all consumers happy in certain fields. For example,I happen to dislike the new engines that chevy makes and like dodge's hemi considerably more, yet I dislike that you have to get an 8-speed,and so on.
Stephen looked so young without the beard. The man knows his stuff, if you didn't know he is on truck king with his dad and their probably the best truck channel on UA-cam...cough cough better than the now bragging channel TFLtrucks.
That means absolutely nothing. I love how Ford fans always bring the sales to the table. The Silverado tows more, gets better gas mileage, and is faster. All this is done with a traditional V8 as supposed to the problem-prone turbocharged V6. Not to mention the quality and reliability is not even comparable.
all jokes aside I like this guys reviews, i ve seen a few of them now and he seems to knock off the important points people want to know about the vehicles, without bias, really well. So, let that belly fly! your doing a great job!
I was ready to rag on Stephen to looking like an older Thurman Merman, but he was really good! Best guy on Autoguide, especially for trucks. Keep it up!
What exactly are you comparing it to? I don't ever recall an engine gaining much more than 40hp with the addition of direct injection, this is a fine gain for a conservatively tuned engine. And I don't get your logic, mpg doesn't matter because it goes down when towing? Wouldn't you rather it be better just so it isn't as bad when towing then? And don't forget this the midlevel engine, move up to the 6.2 if you want more power.
Has the spare tire secondary safety latch be addressed? Is the parking brake going to rot out and become useless like my suburban with 4 wheel disc brakes?
The displacements are the same but these in fact are 3 totally new redesigned engines which incorporates, as he mentioned, cylinder deactivation, variable valve timing, and direct injection. Prior models did not feature all three of these technologies in one engine.
I used to be a car guy. But now I love trucks. They can be use for many purposes. You can carry 4 passengers. Put a lot of stuff in the back. And haul mostly anything.
After buiding a 2014 in the LT trim on Chevy's website, this looks like it's going to be a great work truck. The street princesses can keep all of the chrome that comes in a LTZ trim level. Best review out of Knibbe by far. Great job!
I test drove one of these, the power like he said wasnt good and the brakes were spongy. Great to sit in probably the most comfy truck i've ever sat in and drove but even the suspension lacked in my opinion, when u can grab the box and give it a shake and whole truck moves around like the shocks r worn out it makes u wonder. Love the look of it though, very nice looking truck
Alrighty. Let's begin. My dad's company runs 16 Ecoboosts, some with near 200,000 miles of hard work. I've had mine on the dyno and the WHP and WTQ numbers are the equivelant of any truck's parasitic loss. Tune it, and you get ridiculous power numbers. Mine has a 93 octane tune and it's pushing 450 ft lbs of torque at the wheels (as well as 22 mpg). For the record, I had a 2009 Silverado 4x4 5.3L and had endless electrical issues. Finally got rid of it. 90,000 miles on my Eco and zero issues.
I’m only 19 been working for the past year and building up my money I’m currently looking for this body style one with low miles and that clean I’m going buy one soon
Now this is an excellent review. Straight to the point, with good camera angles. I am debating for company truck for sales calls 2014 or 2018 z71 black or maybe go upscale 14 escalade ext . I have 03 Silverado Lt it's fully load makes for nice work truck as self employed finish carpenter. Again great video bud. Any other GM truck videos ?
All I can say now is im just Happy with the comments Below people are saying and im just glad they are saying it and not me :) The Wrains Has his Mind In all the Viewers :)
I currently own a generation 1 Toyota Tundra. I am currently looking for a newer truck. I am not at all interested in the 2nd or 3rd generation Toyota Tundra. I can handle the lousy gas mileage. But they look horrible and Bloated. This is why I am looking at a Silverado.
I plan on getting an Eco-boost 4x4. It will be my first truck. But I must give credit to Chevy for long lasting trucks. I have family & friends that have 98 and 02 Chevy Tahoe's & trucks that still look fresh and run strong. If it hadn't been for the restyled Eco-boost I'd have gone w/ the Chevy.
Also by the way, majority of LZ model and below, you will NOT get the projector beam light but only the old bulb light . Projector beam is not standard in their Silverado.
I don't know about his take about the new 5.3L v8. Car and Driver did a 3 truck comparison of the Silverado, Ram and F150. The Silverado out gunned the Hemi 5.7L but he attributed it to the fact that the Silverado was nearly 300lbs lighter. Also GM offers a no cost gear upgrade (3.43 gears I think?), several reviewers have pointed that it can make the diff in throttle response and pulling power. Thurman Murman should of pointed that out in his video review
only thing that alot of people will NEGLECT to think about is with fords eco boost, yeah its fine and dandy now. but you need to maintain that turbo properly which isnt very cheap and if that turbo breaks it can be a VERY pricey fix. thats my 2 cents on the fords ECO boost. also in the fords ive noticed that when ever you shut the door the doors outside sheetmetal shakes...i dont like that.
Great reveiw. The torque issue is a deal breaker for me. I'm going to have to wait and see the reveiw on the big V-8. I'm leaning toward the Ford Eco-Boost 4x4. But this 2014 Chevy interior is really nice.
Hopefully the Chevy MyLink system does not have all of the issues that the Ford My Touch system has had. People are pretty frustrated with the system and subsequent so called updates.
Definitely agree, though I think this is the high-end for this model range. Granted, Chevy might want to think about introducing a smaller pickup for those who don't need all of this but prefer such a vehicle.
The ram is going to arrive on dealerships this fall. The same time GM stated their trucks would land. So Ram already has them beat. If Ford is already stating 20% better fuel economy, you know it will beat the silverado as soon as it arrives. No doubt about that.
@camaroman101... I thought they were already working on the 9 and 10 speeds transmissions? Im saying when GM did there new look wasn't it 2007. Ford changed their body style 2009. That's 2 years.
You have to understand, pickup trucks serve a wide range of ages and varying physical abilities. Just because you're 18 and have no problem making that step, your grandfather isn't quite that agile as he once was.
Does a 6.2 comes out on a regular cab . The coyote has 360hp , tunda has 400hp and the hemi almost about the same with no direct injection and the last Silverado comes out with 335hp with no direct injection 9.9cc and now is 11cc with 355hp .the last ls6 (4.7) had 405 with no DI and that engine works fine in my 01 gmc with 145k miles
You don't need 400+ HP. It really all depends on what you're towing. a third of pickup owners just drive these trucks as daily drivers. If they wanted 400+HP they go with the 6.2L. Simple as that.
I don't think 6.2L would be available, I asked them but maybe if Silverado SS is true then it will get the 6.2L V8. I will get the 5.3L V8 in the beginning and after a while I will swap it to another engine.
i think theyve got something with the ecoboost but i just dont see it being very reliable. ill put my money on the 5.3 for the long haul just because ive seen so much of it in the past.
In other words, i'm not trying to beat on GM but they could have done more on the redesign, the mpg and on the power. I see people down here take out more than 400hp on a 5.3 easily. These motors are capable of more than just a 50 hp increase.
Yeah, because horsepower and torque immediately determines the winner, right? Wrong. The 5.0 makes 360 hp and 380 lb ft of torque. The 5.3 liter in the Chevy makes 355 hp and 383 lb ft of torque. So they are very close in both categories, but contrary to what you said, the Chevy makes more torque. Silverado 0-60: 6.7 seconds F-150: 7.1 seconds
tbh trubo vs n/a is gonna have a tab better low end, or be easier to get the power where its needed.. as for the 8500 being the sweet spot... my 2003 5.3 has pulled 10500 without a wobble(of course over the manufacturers recommendations) so this truck should have a problem
How does the new Ram already have GM beat when GM haven't announced the mpg's for there V6 yet and it's highly unlikely Ford can bump there mpg's by 20%.
All you people making fun of his weight are just jealous that you don't have a supple, cuddly body like he and I do. Chicks dig cuddly guys. As for the truck, I just wish I were in the market because I'd be excited to buy a new Silverado.
If you need a work truck, the WT reg cabs will be out this fall for under 25,000. There is a reason why GM produces LTZ's first. People are buying those units.
After owning this truck since it came out it’s been one of the best vehicles I’ve ever been in and never has let me down. Can’t speak for every owner of this truck but man I love it even to this day. Good job Chevy
Do u have a 6 speed automatic?
@@ivandiazrduboiz2302 yes indeed. Chevy l96 whatever transmission is not the best but it’ll last at least in my case. Just has a funky shift from 2nd to 3rd gear but Chevy techs told me that’s normal of that transmission.
Watching in 2018. I wish the Silverado still had this body style
Best body style in my opinion
I look back at my 2014 EVERY time I walk away.....it just looks so perfect as a Double Cab White WT with black 18s on 32s and black grille and bumpers with blacked out windows.

i missed in the manual where i have to add a half qt oil every 1k miles
That’s normal on all chevy’s

seen one today on the road, it looked amazing. I drifted out of my lane looking at it.
Great review. I happen to like the new front style, mostly because it isn't new at all. It's a throwback to the GM trucks of the past.

Hills...what hills? A real workmens truck shouldnt cost $51k. Great review. I would like to see the new tundra as well.
Good review. Very well done. I work at Courtesy Chevrolet in San Jose and will be sharing this with my clients.
Great review. Covered most of the bases for this type review. Just ordered one !

I feel the same, I'm getting a 2015 because the ones newer than 2015 are ugly.

my 2012 f150 5.o liter is 360 hp. The 2012 silverado 5.3 liter is 320 hp. F 150 outsold silverado again in 2012. what do you mean by "out do"?

The 4.3 out does the four letter "F" word's EC0-boost. For towing, fuel economy, and Towing!!! Way to go CHEVY!!!!
lol the intro!!:)
