An exclusive look inside the fight against the junta in Myanmar | People & Power Documentary

- Myanmar’s military government is facing its biggest challenge since it seized power in a coup more than two years ago. This is the most decisive moment in 60 years, after a loose alliance of ethnic armed groups with newly formed anti-coup militias cut off key trading routes, seizing towns and dozens of outposts. For the first time, they are moving into areas the military once thought of as strongholds. Opposition forces now control half the country, advances that have never been achieved before.
Following on from our two previous films charting the course of the resistance, we have unique access through our embedded camera team to capture the story at its most critical time, and chart the progress of these idealistic young people as they take on the military - once considered the most powerful army in Southeast Asia.

I work with Karen and Rohingya students at a school in the United States and they're genuinely some of the kindest, most generous, and hardworking people. I hope that freedom and peace comes to Myanmar. Many have spent their childhoods in refugee camps. My ultimate dream is to go on a field trip with them to their country after the war is over to help rebuild.
Clueless. Training guerrilla fighters in the US to ship back to fight an insurgency on the borders of a world superpower. You are either oblivious to the history of Vietnam or you work for a NGO/CIA. All those nice people you are bamboozling with American support to fight foreign conflicts so the MIC has forever wars should either stay and find a new life or go home and fight their own fights. Vietnam went on for decades, JFK was killed over trying to leave too early before the $ had been made, endless con-game. Imagine if Mexican cartel were flying to Russia to be trained by Russian NGOs on how to overthrow the Mexican government with Russian training and Russian arms and nice Russian NGO types like yourself leading the charge for overthrow, putting Russian tax payer $ into the effort so they can get to their eventual goal in the US one Mexico falls. You could not be more clueless friend.
Stay in The West. You're needed here. The place is going rotten from within.
wait until they are many even buddhist can't stand their attitude BHUDDIST the most chill people in the world have enough with them
Karen people I fully agree. But don’t speak like Myanmar is the home country for Rohingyas cuz it’s not. No doubt they’re smart and hardworking people thou, After all of this is over I don’t mind them staying in this country, that’s of course they work hard and contribute to the country. But it’s hardly factual to call them the natives of this land, they came from Bangladesh.
now think about why the US is funding their education in the US. once the war is over, those students will get US support to take key positions in Myanmars economy and politics.. and they will be doing what the US tells them to do. thats how the US controls other countries. They will help rebuild the country, yes. but they will also take away its independence and make it a colony.
Rather than look for asylum in an embassy like most coward politicians would have... This guy picked up an AR... Thats leadership people... Stop electing cowards.

They can buy wagner like syria gov did
To bad for these rebel groups, they do not only consript volunteers, they also force people in the areas they control to do what they want, including to fight against their will. This medium is obviously biased against the central government of Myanmar. Maybe for different reasons than BBC or CNN, for them democracy means western puppet, but still biased.

The three brothers alliance is not democratic and are supported by china lmao. Not everyone rebelling has the same values, the rebel forces from the previous government has already been completely destroyed, this civil war is more like a proxy war between usa india supported junta and chinas ethnic supported rebells, the third faction which is the democratic forces are greatly diminished
Thanks Aljazeera for shows about Myanmar.
The fighting Alliance will win, and soon Democracy will win in Myanmar, so that peace will be restored. and civilians will live again in harmony.
we hope other countries, the western nations will help the opposition forces with weapons, resources, foods, medicines needed. and also for the civilians because they are the one vulnerable in the war.
very good documentary by Al Jazeera.

I spent some time working at an International School in Yangon. The junta is ruling on a lawless law. The law is their ally and Min Aung Hlaing (the dictator) and the military are hated by 90% of Myanmar citizens. I saw that the Myanmar Red Cross Society is also under Min Aung Hlaing's order. The UN organizations in Myanmar are hopeless and purely for show. I feel sorry for the people of Myanmar.
So true
Well said, they stay in the most expensive suites and basically do nothing,IOM for instance.

After the military coup, most of the myanmar people who live in cities have sympathy feelings for Rohingia and Ethic groups who got abused by the military. I was also a hater. We're not hoping to forgive us. But now, at least you guys know our feelings.
Do you know what happened to other religious groups in the refugee camps in Bangladesh? Don't pretend like the victim you fcking dckhead.
Now the Rohingyas are forcefully conscriped by the military and forced to fight on front lines; photos of battlefields against the insurgent Arakan Army has showed shown Rohingya corpses in Myanmar army uniform.
@Orgruul True,But you have to know that the whole country is facing the same problem. Not only Rohingia.
Lmao no it was the democratic forces that did it, and even then it was exaggerated, the junta is actually recruiting them

Too bad Myanmar has no oil, otherwise the US would have intervened under the the democracy pretext. There's no telling which side the US will be on, though.
Likely the US won't intervene at all but I guarantee you if they did they 100% would not support the military junta considering they are propped up and only survive via support from the CCP. It would make zero sense for America to work towards the interests of China and strengthen Chinese influence over the area.
