I haven’t had poppyseed rolls since my momma died 20 years ago. Mom always made hers in one loaf and I found a couple recipes that appear to be like hers, but your recipe just looks so gorgeous that I chose it to try for my first attempt. My dough is resting as we speak. I simply cannot wait. Thank you for sharing!
It is an honor for me that you chose my recipe. I wish you good luck in baking. Hopefully this recipe will be what you are looking for. Mama’s food is the always the best. Food made with love is beyond world’s highest chef’s food. ❤️
I hear ya Rich. My great-grandmother used to make poppy roll at every holiday. Years back as a lad, me and my 1 cousin couldn’t get enough of it. So it became the ‘family joke’, when my cousin and I started getting a loaf each at Christmas. With grandma gone for too many years now, I decided I wanted to make poppy roll. This recipe looks right to me. (By my vague recollection of ‘helping’ grandma.)
Thank you for sharing this recipe. This is my 3rd time making these in the last month. My family and I have absolutely loved them!! They turn out perfect every time. I actually use a different filling recipe that I found online, since I do not like the flavour of condensed milk. They turn out amazing ☺️😌
This is fantasia . I will make with poppy seed and also with walnuts spread. Can’t wait ,till try to make in the morning ! Now is 2 am ha,ha,ha! Thank you for this great recipe! With love from Canada, B.C.♥️🇭🇷
I’m so excited to make this. I grew up with this as a regular dessert, I’ve found a couple bakeries that make it but they’ve discontinued so I’ve been on a search and here you are!!! I’m making this today 🙌🙌 thank you so much.
Amazing recipe and amazing presentation. Short and sweet yet thorough. Fourth generation to make Poppyseed rolls using my Great Grandmothers cutting board and rolling pin. Turned out absolutely divine. Thank you !
I made these today! Thank you for the recipe. It was simple to follow and they turned out good. My first time ever baking these, I usually buy them at the Russian store
I just made this and it turned out great! Easy, informative video. I just want to recommend lower baking times I set it at 25min and wish I had taken it out few minutes earlier.
I love this recipe and I'm going to bake it later. I prefer grams as a measurement because cups aren't that precise. I guess cups are just more common in America.
This is the best recipe for poppyseed rolls among other polish recipes I've searched so far. It's our Christmas must dessert but living in America it is harder to accommodate the old recipes. You made it look so easy. Making it now with the can of the poppyseed from the local market. Thank you so much for sharing. Merry Christmas Cook Persida ❤️ What is your heritage?
That is the best compliment)) thank you! I am Russian and we eat a lot of poppy seed rolls in Russia)) If you go to any European grocery store, you will find these roll.
I made it last night but mine was a tiny bit tough , I believe because of the measurements using cups , there are English cup , Australian cup , French cup and they all are different. Can you please let me know how much in gram is your cup . With thanks
I have made these a few times now. I use a standard US measuring cup. 1 cup = 240ml = 120 grams. If you are not using a scale machine, then make sure you use a spoon to fill flour into the measuring cup and then once filled, scrap it from the top to level it and then pour it into your bowl. You said your dough turned out too tough, I’m assuming you used too much flour. Never dig the whole meausring cup into the flour and scoop it out. You’ll always end up with too much. You can look up how to properly measure flour online. Hope this helps ☺️
I never heard of using condensed milk for the filling. Also, egg wash is egg whites, not the whole egg. This woman clearly does not know what she is doing. I am so glad I didn't pay attention.

This is such a unique recipe! I've never seen anything like this but I would love to try it out. Looks extremely delicious 😋
Thank you Nata. They are delicious. I highly recommend trying them 🥰🥰
I'll be making these this weekend. Should I grind the seeds?
Had those in Slovakia , I’m gonna try . Thank you sweety for uploading the recipe
You’re welcome! These are my childhood nostalgia.
I used to buy poppy seed loaf from a kosher bakery in Montreal, I couldn't get enough of it
They are my favorite. We sometimes get them at our local Russian store but homemade is better 🤗🤗
Those are delicious
I miss them also it was my favorite dessert my mom and grandma made. ❤

Yes, cups are more common in American. But main reason why I measure in cups is because some people don’t have kitchen scale and will ask for cups 🤗

A woman who makes this is definitely wife material.

Yes this was my mistake, thank you so much .
Are you able to use poppy seeds from a can or is it better to use them dry?
I haven’t baked with canned poppy seeds but if you will drain all the liquid it should work the same way.
Would this recipe work with pre ground poppyseeds aswell?
What are pre ground poppyseeds? Like canned poppyseeds filling?
@@cookpersida yeah well i bought a bag of poppy seeds but they weren’t hole ones they were ground up
That should work just fine. I never seen those before.
The poppy seeds are tinny. I wonder what is the reason to grind them?
Looks dry. Looking for something moist when you break it open
poppy seed washing...🤔🤔🤔 very interesting...?
Where can I buy poppy seeds?
I added amazon link in the description. amzn.to/30yjEsP
@@cookpersida Thank you!
👏👏👏👏👏🥰👍👍👍👍👍👍❤
Thank you 🤗🤗
cup mesurments stopped me to make this
You have to grind the poppy seed. This is not how it's done properly.
VERY dry dough, 1/10 would not recommend

I really appreciate your opinion. Google what is egg wash 😅
