    I haven’t had poppyseed rolls since my momma died 20 years ago. Mom always made hers in one loaf and I found a couple recipes that appear to be like hers, but your recipe just looks so gorgeous that I chose it to try for my first attempt. My dough is resting as we speak. I simply cannot wait. Thank you for sharing!

      I hear ya Rich. My great-grandmother used to make poppy roll at every holiday.
      Years back as a lad, me and my 1 cousin couldn’t get enough of it. So it became the ‘family joke’, when my cousin and I started getting a loaf each at Christmas.
      With grandma gone for too many years now, I decided I wanted to make poppy roll.
      This recipe looks right to me. (By my vague recollection of ‘helping’ grandma.)

    Thank you for sharing this recipe. This is my 3rd time making these in the last month. My family and I have absolutely loved them!! They turn out perfect every time. I actually use a different filling recipe that I found online, since I do not like the flavour of condensed milk. They turn out amazing ☺️😌

    I’m so excited to make this. I grew up with this as a regular dessert, I’ve found a couple bakeries that make it but they’ve discontinued so I’ve been on a search and here you are!!! I’m making this today 🙌🙌 thank you so much.

    I love this recipe and I'm going to bake it later. I prefer grams as a measurement because cups aren't that precise. I guess cups are just more common in America.

    • @cookpersida
      @cookpersida  3 роки тому +4

      Yes, cups are more common in American. But main reason why I measure in cups is because some people don’t have kitchen scale and will ask for cups 🤗

    This is the best recipe for poppyseed rolls among other polish recipes I've searched so far. It's our Christmas must dessert but living in America it is harder to accommodate the old recipes. You made it look so easy. Making it now with the can of the poppyseed from the local market. Thank you so much for sharing. Merry Christmas Cook Persida ❤️

    I made it last night but mine was a tiny bit tough , I believe because of the measurements using cups , there are English cup , Australian cup , French cup and they all are different. Can you please let me know how much in gram is your cup . With thanks

    • @milkshaketoast
      @milkshaketoast Місяць тому

      I have made these a few times now. I use a standard US measuring cup. 1 cup = 240ml = 120 grams.
      If you are not using a scale machine, then make sure you use a spoon to fill flour into the measuring cup and then once filled, scrap it from the top to level it and then pour it into your bowl. You said your dough turned out too tough, I’m assuming you used too much flour. Never dig the whole meausring cup into the flour and scoop it out. You’ll always end up with too much.
      You can look up how to properly measure flour online. Hope this helps ☺️

    Are you able to use poppy seeds from a can or is it better to use them dry?

    • @cookpersida

      I haven’t baked with canned poppy seeds but if you will drain all the liquid it should work the same way.

    I never heard of using condensed milk for the filling. Also, egg wash is egg whites, not the whole egg. This woman clearly does not know what she is doing. I am so glad I didn't pay attention.
