    Corrections:
    -Polymer T-Spins are a thing.
-The text at 15:05 should have read "Joseph would have lost this *round* instantly", not the set.
-As someone pointed out in the comments, "it's worth noting that basic t-spin doubles are possible in almost every tetris game, since it doesnt require any kicks. they just were not recognized for scoring pre-guideline so had little use outside of fixing your stack and looking cool".
-At 12:19, I talk about Mini T-Spin Singles as if you can't go any higher. That's not true. Mini T-Spin Doubles are possible, but they're very unlikely to happen and the way they work seems to be inconsistent across games (even the guideline games), which is why I didn't talk about them even though I knew about their existence. In hindsight, I should have covered them anyway.

Pretty damn good video, I like how instead of going all technical it keeps the focus on how it _feels_ to learn all this. It's a perspective I don't see much and I sometimes forget how it's like to get into all this when just starting out.

It's ironic how they made a simple yet difficult system more complex in order to make it easier, but ended up also making it harder in it's complexity at the end of the day.
They took the strange quirks of a new system created to make things more accessible and turned them into actual mechanics that high skill players can use to demolish the game.
Even if you hate modern Tetris over classic Tetris, you cannot deny that this is was an ingenious move when attempting to expand on the game while trying to keep it traditional.

It’s always really bothered me that the I, S and Z pieces have visually-identical but functionally-different rotation states since the location of the pivot changes which rotations are possible. It makes it inconsistent getting I pieces across certain walls at high gravity and makes it hard for me to learn S and Z spins for cleanup.

It's the flaws in our games that sometimes make us love them so much. The BLJ in sm64, the bunny hop in the half life series and related games, the terrible weirdness that is sonic 06... These flaws are okay because we love them. They make the game fun because you go out of your way to show your friends and family just how flawed these games are. And yes, even the strange spin mechanics of modern tetris games.
You can't say that going to that elevator level and betting your friends you can make a piece go UP and waiting for their reaction isn't one of the purest joys in life.

This is a great video. Legit, out of all videos I've seen to try to understand the spin system, this is honestly the best one. Now it's just time for me to kind of memorise and learn what I need to do in order to make some of these crazy spins and increase my speed. Thanks a ton for this video!

Damn dude, I've been tryharding tetris for like 3 years now and I'm at about best 2000 players in the world of modern tetris (by tetrio ranking system), but I've been feeling really down lately because I stopped improving and felt a little bit depressed every time I played tetris, but you have reignited my love for this game and reminded me about why it's so awesome. Thanks for the beast of a video, hope you'll blow up soon!

I have no idea if it is just because I'm really tired right now but how you present it, how I felt nostalgic reminded how I learned all of this as well, how relateable it was, how you talk and the soundtrack on top gave me some wet eyes. This is the type of video you show when you want to tell someone why the hell you like tetris so much.

Hi Superclass:) You got thrown into my recommended and I cannot be happier! I'm a GenX boomer who last played Tetris on an arcade machine in approx '95 and got a cheap deal on a Switch version and tried it again. I was actually really good back then, but I was awful now and your first point made me feel much better. However, I've been watching YT now for ages and this is one of the most well crafted and edited videos I've seen in months. Have subscribed and pretty sure that I will enjoy even if I don't play. Keep up the good work, you're going places:)

Incredible video! I'm ashamed I only discovered it now. I've played NES Tetris for years with a touch of Tetris Effect as well, and I had no idea what the technical explanation was for the crazy rotations in that game. I'll have to play it more now that you've brought it to my attention again! Thanks!

    this video was incredible!!
as a fairly new player to tetris who is just trying to wrap their head around things like finesse and even just not panicking when something goes wrong, you really explained t-spins in a way that doesn't make them seem like a mythical being thats unslayable unless you have the reaction time of a wizard
like i'm actually gonna go to jstris right now and try and do a setup
this video was so well put together and incredibly underrated
    amazing amazing vid!!
