1. Arjun stood up slightly when Magnus came - that shows respect for World No. 1
2. His legs were literally shaking at the start
3. Arjun gave couple of glances at Magnus after the game, thinking he would discuss the game (may be).. but he is too shy to start a conversation …
No worries Arjun.. one day you will be on the Champion’s seat.. Keep going !!
well analysed
Lol even Arjun wouldn't have worried that much, the way you are mentioning it to be. Chill let the young talent sink in ...
I guess he is chill and thats why he is still performing at 2700+ level
🤩🤩🤩well defended

Erigaisi tries to standup when Magnus arrives, fist bumps 2 times before starting the game, arranges all pieces in the end, lets Magnus sign the slip first, waits till he goes, and leaves only after him.
Proper Indian manners✅👏

Huge performance, fantastic defense playing "only" moves to equalize!

Its mostly because chess players at their top level are usually autistic savants. They’re absolutely brilliant gods at the game but obviously it comes at the price of ignoring common social cues

"Arjun", why not just Arjun?
@@HolyGayfish Arjun is the name of a legendary warrior(with many exceptional skills) from epic Mahabharata and also one of the main figures of Bhagavad Geeta(which is basically the enlightening conversation between Lord Krishna and Arjuna that took place in the battlefield of kurukshetra war in 3138BC approx) so The name is special and carries a significance when this Arjun is fighting on chess board. FOR ONCE ARJUN WAS INTIMIDATED TO DISCUSS GAME AFTER
Excellent game. Very sharp playing by both of them, but Arjun was really impressive. Clearly not a walk in the park for Magnus. But when enough pieces have been traded, and there's a lot of space on the board, it's nearly impossible to beat Magnus in the end game.

Whew, that was TENSE in the end !!!
Great temperament shown by Arjun, India’s pride!
Yes Bilkul 👍👍
Two Questions:
1: Shouldn't the clock be on the other side since Arjun is playing with his left hand?
2: Isn't Board 1 where the leaders play? Why was Magnus playing on Board 1 since I don't think he was leading (or even Top 3) going into Round 12?
Thank you for any explanations in advance.
Board 1 is reserved for magnus
Q2- Norway Chess camera is set up at board 1 that's why
1. Clock always lies in same position
2. It's because of FIDE's deal with Norwegian TV channel.. They bought streaming rights to magnus games. AS it is difficult to change camera setup after every match, magnus plays at board 1 no matter his position on leader board
@@petethepark6029 position of a clock is always decided by black, most of the time it is right side side(for black) because majority of the people are right-handed
In this case position of the clock doesn't matter because one is playing with right hand and the other is playing with left. But as per rules, place of the clock is correct.
Arjun was daringly trying to confront and exchange pieces to move to the end game...shows his great confidence in end game....wow.....he will become World Chmpion soon...
U sure?
Solid defence!! Indian chess future is in good hands.
The only one who does not shake magnus hand at the beginning

Great to witness manners before and after the game, good game in between
I wonder whether Magnus realised the implications of the welcome he received. 😁

4:36 The moment carlsen is into the game
Arjun is world number 10 now in live ratings of blitz . Youngest top 10er in blitz currently in the world
Who won this round?
@@ilikeyt5053 It was a draw. When a game ends, the players always place their kings at the centre of the chess board. If both kings are on white pieces that means white won. If both kings are on black pieces that means black won. If white king is at white piece and black king is at black piece that means game was a draw.
@@satyampandey5584 I don’t get it. These rules don’t seem to make any sense to me.

Uh...what? You that desperate for a win on the guy? Theres a difference between a win and a draw and there was no win in that situation, have a seat sir
@@stevereeves871 Perfect response 🙌🏻
Everybody who's telling that Arjun shouldn't respect carlsen that much, and change his "mannerisms" according to his opponent, I don't agree one bit. As an Indian, this is commendable and he is setting an example as to how others should also act and learn from him. Life is all about respecting efforts. Indians won't become more or less respectful, just for the sake of foreigners, it's not how we roll..😊 No rebuttals appreciated, just typed for clarification 🙏
Arjun looked like he wanted to discuss the game, but was nervous haha. Amazing game!
Arjun probably wanted an ending greetings like a hand punch or a small tete a tete and was waiting for Carlson who left even without looking at him.. probably he may not have expected such a terrific game.. good going.. change in world no 1 is the only constant in chess
Want to understand how hard would it be to overlay clocks as well as the board, it's pretty useful in blitz at the least
guys at 9:50 how did the black pawn at A4 take white pawn at B4? ? it was not diagonally so i dont really understand. can someone explain?
en-pessant
Magnus was least interested to have a chat with keen Arjun..Arjun was nervous to ask champion a question .. First tryst with the champion!
Don't you love the way Carlsen walks?
He walks like his joints are over - lubricated
Having the eval bar would be helpful. Because for beginners like me it would be help understand the intensity of game at the end and would enjoy it as well.
It was very intense, Arjun had to play the perfect move every time, otherwise he would have lost. Hope this helps, having the eval bar means running the game through an engine and overlaying that over the video, if the organizers aren't doing it, it's not that easy to do.
@@andreidinu7316 I thought Sagar has put overlay of the board for understanding to the audience, so wondering if could accommodate the eval bar as well beside the overlayed board
@@harry12200 If he put it, it's a question of video post editing, and software...I don't know if he can do that, I don't know the channel very well.
@@harry12200 usually he does not put eval on especially blitz games cause he does not want us to have the habit of relying on the eval and think from our own. In blitz games under time pressure the eval will move haphazardly but it does not mean players are making obvious blunders. Eval is good for classical games as their accuracy is the most important aspect.
This game was too deep. Even if there was an eval bar it would be of not much help for beginners. At 1900, it was tough for me to follow the game live
Magnus seems a bit arrogant in his approach. I mean clearly Arjun was looking for a conversation at the end Magnus didn't even respond.
Arjun has huge respect for Magnus, you can tell from his body language.
Arjun you rocked....hearty congratulations 🎉🎁🎈🎂
What a fantastic game from both players. But the setup for the camera about the clock should be improved. Its very importend to see the clock for the players AND for the visitors. A second clock on the eboard Could be a great solution
It was simply a lighting issue ugh
@@danb.3190 electronic timer won't hurt though

Accha dubov tu hai...
Dubov: mai nahi magnus bhai mai nahi
Magnus: Bach Gaya tu
*Meanwhile Anish : I already knew that game will end in a draw that's why I would offered it earlier*
Can someone explain why Arjun accepted a draw? He seemed to have a better position than Carlsen when the game ended and the time difference wasn't much b/w both players.
After b5 black promotes h1=Q then Rxh1, Kxh1 and then c4. This is met with dxc4, Kxc4 then black gets back his rook by playing Rd1 intending to put the rook behind the passed b pawn. Then b6 Rb1 followed by Kc5. Then Rxb6 Kxb6 and it's a draw.
why would he go rd1 ? can he not go rb8 directly
Another way that is a little bit easier is magnus will just go rg7 and if the king moves away from the pawn then just go rh7 back and forth and there’s not really a way to make progress for either side
@@seeker8672 That is also possible.
Because arjun only have 4 second left again world champion. He accepted draw is better than loss by time.
Must be uneasy to play with the World #1 but Arjun has great potential in the future! Very good play!

Whoa, the last moves were played so fast!!! Amazing game! One question, who won?
I believe it was either a draw or Magnus won because Arjun's time ran out and Magnus had enough pieces to checkmate
@@malharbadve6487 what it looked like Arjun won. He had a few seconds on clock and was about to get a queen.

Its a draw. 12:20 At the end of the games, both player places their king in the middle board. If both king in the white square, that means white win. If theyre in the black square, that means black win. If theyre on diff color, that means draw
It was a draw. White's rook is committed to stopping the pawn from queening. The black king won't budge from protecting the pawn. Draw by repetition

Ótima partida adorei👏👏👏
Sarebbe meglio se le riprese venissero fatte dall'alto, in modo da avere una visione migliore della scacchiera.
I think Magnus should have made some sort of a friendly comment at the end before leaving. Arjun keeps looking at him but since he won, out of respect, he doesn’t want to say anything. But I bet if he lost he would have made some sort of a friendly comment, good game or thank you or whatever.
But the main thing is that as a rule of politeness, unless you hate the person that much, when you leave you are suppose to always make some kind of a friendly gesture, talk to u later, take care, it was a good game etc.
"But since he won" LMAO it was a draw buddy 😂😂😂
It’s a draw. There was no winner.
4:10 magnus caught a glance at arjun's eye, is he trying to find out where he's looking aka his next moves, maybe who knows, they're God level players 😅
