Quick question. I have the Yi 4K and I love the Loop Mode for vlogging. This way it chops your footage into 5 minutes files. Ideal for media management if you continiously shoot like me. Does the Yi Lite has the Loop Mode?
I bought the Yi lite and so far I’m liking it. For $94 delivered including their waterproof action case I feel it’s the best value out there.
Agreed the S9 camera is just amazing. Also the Yi lite app works pretty good with the S9.

Hmm I'm very tempted by one of these little Yi dudes. I'd be looking at one to go in my Smooth Q gimbal so some of the negatives you point out would be negligible for me. Thanks for the reviews though! Really helpful 😊

The Yi Lite, as long as I've owned it for the past 2+ years, has been the budget action camera champ in my book. Because it's been around now for quite some time, I'm wondering if Yi has been developing its successor. To me, building on its success would add the following features to cater the growing vlogger community: 1. An external mic input. 2. A flip-up display screen, and 3. A non-distortion wide angle lens (no fisheye).
How do you invert the image, I'm using this camera on my 2017 Toyota Tacoma gopro FACTORY mount and the camera in upside down. The camera or the app don't have any options

Yi discovery or Eken h9s? I know I'm a cheapie but I don't think I'm going to spend any more than those. The eken has more accessories and stuff but the discovery has a touchscreen. Which would you recommend? Great video btw
Have you seen the git2? Is it worth a review? Btw I love your videos, you don't talk slow and get to the point and don't miss any important details. One thing tho that you don't always get into is the options that's available, as far as loop recording, different types of options available for recording different fields of vision, time lapse, timer, etc. I'm looking to buy and action cam and I have to do some digging to find this out. What settings are you using for the yi lite mountain biking footage? I bought one for mountain biking and my footage looks terrible. I tried almost every combo of settings and after uploading to UA-cam the footage still looks like Minecraft. :(
Amazon is running a deal on the Yi Discovery with case, remote and two batteries for under $70. Would this change your recommendation? Would this make a good camera for motovlogging?
I wonder if I have an old version of the yi lite. Just got it in today's and do not see anything with stabilization and the setting layout is WAY different. Not sure that the video quality is as good as yours either

I've been dissapointed with Yi Lite for missing one of the simplest and basic options: Flip recording (invert image).
And after reading praise about their involvement in customer support, all I got a few months ago is a statement that it will be implemented in some future firmware update.
After all that time... I'm thinking Mijia 4k. And night recordings look significantly better.

You are trying to get a multi cam setup for streaming? I dont know that I'd recommend any of these.
Mainly because the parts you'd need to get to port them into the computer would cost about as much as the cameras.

I'll add one side note here;
My main action cam is the ActiveOn CX Gold.
It too does not have any covering over the holes where the USB cables go in.
However, I have never had a problem with getting sand or dirt inside.
For the record, I rarely ever use the plastic case when I'm recording my videos.
But ..... I did buy an ipod case at the Dollar Store which I carry the camera around in when not in use.
So that is my experience with not having a cover over the holes, for what its worth.
I almost never use the case for my action cameras since they are almost always in a gimbal. (That's the only reason I've held onto the gopro this long)
But even filming this episode it was a misty day where everything was damp and the camera definitely got some drops on it and after a rather ignoble half fall some dirt got around it too.
I dont know if any got in the ports but eventually through a lot of use it will 😳
I have a short story for ya;
I was recording a video one rainy day when my action cam fell over and landed in a small puddle. Nope, I was not using the protective plastic case.
It seemed fine, but when I tried recording the next clip the camera would not power up.
I was worried I had shorted out the electronics. (gasp!)
I even switched batteries, but nope, it would not power up.
When I got home, I dried it out, and wham, it turned on again.
Whew, my action cam has been working ever since.
Yes, I should have been using the protective case in the rain, but I never carry that around with me.
Is there any way you could possibly get and do a review or battle of some small form factor cam for use on a race quadcopter that is affordable ? Say maybe the first go pro sessions vs foxeer cube vs polaroid cube vs sjcam m20 vs anything else you can think of? I think it would be a great video and very helpful to a lot of people.

Get a Hero 5 session used. It is the best for a quad. Maybe a Runcam 3 if you can find one as it will be a lot cheaper.
AMA i have been looking at those as well. The thing that worries me is on ebay there are tons of gopros for sale that are refurbished and broken for parts only.
Bob Keller order using PayPal so you can dispute. There are many reputable sellers, just find one that isn't unbelievably priced and is from a seller with a positive rating.
I just can't wait for your test of the 360 cam! I get paid Thursday pending your approval or disapproval of the camera you have I might go a different route.

Now in fairness I'm not testing it as a 360 camera. Im going to see if one camera can replace all of my action cameras since it can capture multiple angles from one fixed position.

Because it doesn't take much effort to buy an already mass produced camera and slap your own action logo on it.

New entry level Hero supposedly due out tomorrow March 30. Estimated price of $200 and using same exterior as hero 5/6. 1440 max resolution. 60fps max. 10mp stills. Will still feature a touchscreen, voice controls, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. And if the leaked info is correct, will not have interchangeable batteries.
Yeah I bought one today, initial impressions video will be out Monday.
It seems that the Lite version is better than the Discovery. I would like to know what kind of Gimbel you're using on that bike ride because I mountain bike too and have a $50 no name action camera that seems to work pretty well otherwise.

how does the yi discovery compare to the original Yi? They are about the same price where i am, but the Yi discovery has a touch screen. I don't mind giving up the touch screen if it means better image quality.
I haven't looked at either in awhile but from what I remember I liked the image coming out of the original yi better. But that was about 6 months ago, I've got some videos with both if you want to compare them.

Hi The Everyday Dad, great videos. Been looking through a few of them now cause im on the hunt for my first actioncamera and looking for an advice. Would you recommend anyone special by these intentions: dont care much about 4k, just want enough fps to be able to slow down sections. Going to use it in soccerpractice most of the time, static and head/chest-strapped. Not really tied to a budget but would love to see it as cheap as possible due to risks in training getting it damaged. Do you have any favorites to propose? :)

What lights do you use for you commentary’s?
Back during this time I think I just used a single ring light, my lighting is a little different now though.
I am looking for a camera to film myself underwater during swimming practice, man this is hard to decide as no reviewers do this type of footage :)

Have you had any issues with any of your GoPro or Yi cameras so far?
I've been using 1 canon g7x & 3 sjcam4000's for like 3 years now mounted on a Samson MK-10 boom mic using their frame mount + a 1/4 male to female thread - And they still work fine (though I don't know if one is a fake or not, but it still works lol) BUT, one of my cameras gave out on me the other day..
I think I've narrowed it down to these, but if you know something else that would fit my needs better Please let me know. Cuz if the one I get is way better than my Sjcam's then I might get 2 more (so, cost is a factor)
GoPro Hero 5 Black refurbished = $220 each ($170 after $50 trade in for my sjcam4000)
Yi-4K (not 4K+) = $150 from their website...but no trade in offered.
*I do like that the GoPro Hero 5 Black has the Linear mode (cuz fish eye looks weird on drums)
**I also use Screenflow 7, if that makes a difference with those 2 cameras above.
These will be for UA-cam drum videos, SO...
1. I don't really need stabilization (unless it will help with #6)
2. I don't really need 4k either actually..
3. I'll be shooting in 1080p 30fps, MAYBE 60fps (if I feel like it would look cool)
4. The cameras will be on a Samson MK-10 boom stand using their frame mounts + GoPro Tripod adaptor.
5. I don't need the audio to be great (I get my audio edited)
6. I've noticed my bass drum does cause the video to shake with my Canon G7X (1st one, not mark 2), but that could just be because it's heavy while attached to my boom stand.
7. BUT they will be in low light. I use 2 neewer 176 LED lights, black background on my walls, no other lights on.

you have to say, that the discovery is not as good as the lite in lowlight, but in..."high light" it clips way less...
but overall I like the videocolors of the yi lite way better than the colors of the Discovery...

no, it's more bad, have problem with unsyncronized audio, dont support scripts, no mounting hole, 4k ONLY 15fps, this is shit
