Grateful Dead - Broken Arrow (Orchard Park, NY 6/13/93)

- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- "This is a rare near-contemporary hit the Grateful Dead covered, joining Hey Jude from 1969 and Werewolves Of London in 1978. Robbie Robertson wrote the song and included it on his 1987 solo debut album. In 1991, Pop superstar Rod Stewart covered the song, and less than two years after its release, the Grateful Dead started covering it, sung by Phil Lesh. A very welcome addition to the setlist." - David Lemieux

Thanks, Dave!
DAVES NOT HERE MAN
Love Phil but would have loved to have heard Jerry sing it
Thank You For Sharing The Love With Those Of Us, Still Hangin On & Sharin The Love!
A Labor Of Love Deeply Appreciated!!
@@Skinnyorangemusic Still Thankful Whether Here Or On The Other Side! Lost My Brother Bear Almost 40 Years Ago, Still Love, Honor & Respect Those Special Relationships!!
RIP Robbie Robertson
Phil is, was and always will be a MAD SCIENTIST
Agreed! Sharing The Love & Deepest Respect!!
When I saw a pic of him off to the side reading a comic book I knew they were a cool bunch, sealed the deal when I found they were peaceful anarchy
When ever I went to a Dead show I sat on Phils' side and chanted " let Phil sing". Their shows were always a wonderful place to be
Love this song so much. Thanks Robbie… and Phil!
In 93 I was not the more knowledgeable Deadhead then as I am now(hehe). But I remember standing in the Omni I think and I heard the beginning of Broken Arrow around me. It so happens in HS I had that RR solo album so I knew the song. I was silly happy and spread the word.Young, fun times. RIP Robbie Robertson.
I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that until this morning I did not know who wrote the song. My mom has this loathing thing for Rod Stewart, and so do I to a point. The Faces stuff is pretty cool. Anyway in 8th grade in 91 his version was on the radio a lot, and I really liked it. When I heard the Dead play it (on tape) a handful of years later I was instantly enamored, although I didn’t quite understand why they were playing a Rod Stewart song. The melody is absolutely infectious. Makes sense it’s a Robbie song.
God Bless you. Many many more luv!!
RIP Robbie Robertson
Hard to believe so much time has gone. Phil just 53 here. ❤
Jerry was 51
And I was just 29. Two lifetimes ago, it seems.
Was there, what a great time to be alive. The future looked brighter... More hope that we would not face the times , we are facing now.
Phil, voice, so strong. Moving across the water.
There you go
Turning my whole world around
Such passion!! This is a crying song, for me. Thanks for so many years, Phil! We love you!! Rest in power, Robbie.
⚘️
Robbie Robertson
May his memory be a blessing
Phil used to rock this song with Phil and friends. Great versions out there
In attendance for this 💓💓
Phil me up!
Well there you goww then. I wonder if Phil was influenced to do this song at least in part by the Box of Rain/bottle of rain connection.
God bless Phil.
There was a radio blip years ago, Get out of bed, fix your head and see the Dead, RIP Robbie, your legend lives on thru Phil singing your song. Lesh is the best bass player period, and has a strong voice
Good old Phil still kicking and dropping the Phat Phil Bombs. He is my favorite member of the GRATEFUL DEAD. And will be always. PEACE & SAFETY to all.
RIP Robby Robertson.
can we just appreciate that this channel is now at 420k subs
I was at this show. Drove over the border from Canada with a whack of friends. We had taken some great acid, played frisbee and laughed like crazy. Best times of my life.
A whack of friends lol. Is that Canadian or just you?
Sounds like you got pretty whacked! 😂
Me too man. Was worried about driving across the border but made it fine. One of the best days ever
Woke up to this.... clicked immediately. No regrets
Same here
No. No regrets.
My only show :)
Love it 😇. Memories. Lyrical majestic vibes. 🛐🔥🔥🔥. Blessings. Only one Grateful Dead.
✌🏽
It *is* the one I was lucky enough to see. Killer. The sound was amazing in the Phil Zone that day, as it is here. Much appreciated!! This is the first time I've heard this show sound so good, and the first time ever that I've seen video. Cheers! ✌🏽🌻
Phil Bombs!!
LET PHIL SING! LET PHIL SING!
Thought of you E when I heard this today.
I didn't realise Robbie died just earlier this month. RIP.
Dude he died on the same day as Jerry 28 years later. Pretty wild.
Thanks Robbie. Thanks Phil, Thanks Jerry, Bobby, Billy, Mickey, everyone. Thanks family, thank you God. For the Grateful Dead. For everything. WE GOT MOUNTAINS TO CLIMB!! All my love.
Brought me back to the Phil zone ❤❤❤❤❤
My favorite Phil song!! Lol
Love when Phil would sing at shows
I heard him sing " Tom Thumbs Blues" at Hershey Park, was it 1986? I can still remember it , can still remember the sound
@jroc2201 that would been awesome.
I think the first time I heard Phil sing was at the Rubber Bowl in '86 when they closed on 'Box of Rain'... I could have damn near floated home on the happiness that gave me.
I like his studio songs, Unbroken Chain off Mars Hotel is my fav
Love this song so much. Thank you Phil.
I always come back to this at certain times in my life.
Some times come quicker than others.
No matter the time though
I wish Jerry would have played pedal steel on this.
LET PHIL SING
We want Phil!
We Want Phil We Want Phil.
Sexiest band ever😮
How crazy is it that I may have been there but can't remember?🤷♂
A bit crazy, but also not that crazy. I have no questions about any of the shows I’ve seen, but I also understand the states we get ourselves into. Also, I have nearly all of my ticket stubs, so that helps too! Haha!
Me & Bobby McGee was also a " contemporary" radio song when the Dead started playing it live in 1971.
Jerry watching Phil
I would like to see a Samba In The Rain.❤
Gotta love vince jamming that
I love Phil’s voice.
On the song, yeah it works perfectly.
AMEN
Love Phil ❤
Sung badly in a most beautiful way.
🎧▶🎶💀
miss you henry camp
Let Phil sing N.F.A 65-95!
Yeah, great tune. A shame he didn't do this one before his voice went.
Thank you for introducing me to the Grateful Dead, @frank.rising, and for the great times in California. You held my heart. RIP. 💗
🏜🏕🏛
THANK YOU GENTLEMEN, AKA THE BAND. PEACE AND BLESSINGS.🙏🇺🇲✌️👍🏻
Lesh is more!
they should have Phil singing more especially when Donna was with the band.
💞🏹💞🎶💃🌳🕺🎶💞🏹💞
Soo Beautiful this Song ❤️ we Always loved when Phil would sing. . Yes we Do ❤🤗
Philthy lesh
Phil Lesh and Jack Casady are the two BEST Bassists ever. No others even come close. Thank you Phil and Jack. Your Bass (n Music) beats thru me then, now and allways. Blessings everybody and remember: Be Kind. 💙❤️
My Sisters used to see me 'trippin' thru the audience and pull me backstage. Phil was always moving, running around and smiling, it was like he brought happiness n positivity w him everywhere he went. Don't know he was w others but once when he and i turned around at the same time and totally collided, instead of getting annoyed he just smiled and we laughed as both of us were apologizing for the collision (even tho he was hurrying to get back onstage for the 2nd set).
Nice War story!
wabi-sabi
I love you Thailand Dave🙏✌️🪂

Is there a Studio version of this song??
Yes, on Robbie Robertson’s self titled solo album released in 87. He wrote it, within a couple of years it had been covered/recorded by many people.
@@ImaLeshLushnIcantgetmyPhil oh thanks! But I’m sure Phil isn’t singing it on RR’s album though right? I was wanting a studio version of GD with Phil singing
@@shadeshiest22 Know what you were looking for, it doesn’t exist. The information is the origin of the song.
@@shadeshiest22 negative - don't you know all of their studio songs? Unless you're referring to a Dick's or Dave's Picks, or some other live release (not what you'd call a "studio" release), you should know that this wasn't on any of the limited Dead's studio albums.
Beautiful ❤️⚡
🤍
💙
the presidio brought me here
He on tour? 🎉
🫠
So good.
Not like this
I love to hear Phil sing
Right? I thought Unbroken Chain was the ONLY song Phil sung, and I absolutely LOVE that song on Mars Hotel album especially! Wish he had more songs, is there any others?
Don’t forget Box of Rain!
Just like Tom Thumbs Blues also.
I knew Phil and Friends did this , but never knew the Dead did.
WTF , how'd I miss that?
✌💀👍🎸🎵🎶🇺🇸❤🇺🇸🌹🇺🇸❤
I love Phils Bass playing but singing is not so great .
Beautiful
I love every imperfection that is the Grateful Dead but I sometimes wonder why they didn't just get a singer. They had a song writer.
RIP pigpen.
They had multiple singers, each well-suited to the songs they took on.
John Mayer wasn't old enough yet
Hah. This will probably be my favorite reply.@@ericwid
Oh come on... You know what I mean.@@trdsf
Owsley coffee before every show damn near. Phil is a specimen indeed. To the not so bitter end, we love you Phil.
Great version. Love the Oregon 93 but this is really good
