    Beautiful video! I was just there a week ago and hit all those places…I have visited Spearfish Canyon in every season except winter…it’s a gorgeous place! Loved the drone footage above Devils Bathtub…never seen it from the vantage point…I always just put on old tennis shoes and plan on walking through the river…the community caves are beautiful and a shorter but steep hike…definitely hike it next time plus the Iron Creek trail…also the Rim Rock loop trail that leaves from the campground you stayed at is beautiful as well…endless places to explore in Spearfish💚

    Such a pristine area of our great country. We hiked around Spearfish back in August 2021. Clear streams where you could see rainbow trout swimming! We did the Devil’s Bathtube really early in the morning and were the first to arrive, having it to ourselves for quite sometime. Just a beautiful memory. Thanks for bringing us back….

    SO incredibly beautiful! What a gorgeous hike and park. I love SD. Have said it many times, but SD does not get it's due. Especially the Western part of the state. We drove through the Black Hills Narional Forest on our way to Mt. Rushmore, but I wanted to explore the National Forest itself more. This video has just reiterated that for me. Thank you for sharing another wonderful video, Randy!

    Local knowledge is always invaluable information, especially when it is delivered in a real friendly way by good people. I always love a waterfall and what a great pre-lunch example that was. I always spend so much time chatting to people on the trail and it makes the hike for me as you meet so many awesome people. The Devils Bathtub sounded ominous and it did look a bit sketchy to get there and I bet that water was dam cold, not wonder your voice when up two octaves! Great call on keeping stop number 5 in the program, man that was a sight to see! Cheers Alan

    Randy, GORGEOUS COLORS! Agree so much about enjoying conversation with Park Rangers and Forest Rangers in our parks and National Forests. Just like Kayla and Hailey, our daughter still teases me about my long chats with the staff. BTW, the NPS is looking for new hires both young and old, and these folks obviously enjoy their jobs. That is a interesting mining building, like you mentioned. Your video of the waterfalls and rock formations really show off the Black Hills. Of, course AMERICA’S PARKS has to get in the water! NICE SLIDE! Amazing close-up of the Mountain Goat. Great place for car camping. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR DAY WITH US, . . . Mike

    Excellent video!
    I love this area as I travel through Spearfish Canyon on each trip to the Black Hills. I've been going 17 years running less Covid.
    I am 8 hours north in Regina Saskatchewan.
    I did the trail to Devils bathtub and ended up getting fairly soaked, as the creek was a lot higher.
    As you mentioned, the length of the trail isn't far, but the twists and turns makes it a longer walk!
    I always make a point of going to the Dances With Wolves filming site - about 3 miles west of Roughlock Falls. You likely passed it on the way to Timon.
    It is overthrown now, but if you if you visualize the final scene of the movie, you can make out where it was shot.
    I will back down there In early September:)
    Thank you for the great content!
    Rob

    This land was originally Lakota land. Mining occurred after it was stolen by force.

    • @SuperLaphone
      @SuperLaphone 2 роки тому

      @@johnkertzman3223 Any discussion or journey through the Black Hills is simply incomplete without mention of its cultural importance and troubled history. I cannot satisfactorily answer your question since the traditional concept of land ownership was very different to American Indians (and surely within their varied cultures and peoples) than that of the United States. Using American legal precedent as reference, then the United States theft of this land is irrefutable and a sad moment in our nation's history.

      @SuperLaphone 2 роки тому

      @@johnkertzman3223 it would be wise for us all to step back and try to understand the nuances of this situation while recognizing the crime at hand. We would be better for it. Please respect the fundamental differences between our culture and theirs as it plays a fundamental in understanding what and why things happened the way they did.
      Since you are sticking with this 'stealing stolen land' distraction, I want to note that in many (if not most) jurisdictions stealing stolen property is still a crime lol

      @@johnkertzman3223 nothing I have said is a rewrite. The Great Sioux reservation was guaranteed in treaty and that treat was violated in a sinister and violent fashion. Indeed, the US Supreme Court sided with the Lakota in an affirmation of this history.
