Great movie Mark Ruffalo and Todd Haynes. This video seems like an extension to the movie. It shows that characters in movie have not acted out in the movie, they are just portraying their feeling in an outcry. At 38:15 when Mark speaks about the chemical company, it shows how much they are concerned about the issue. Thanks again for a great movie and this interview.

I'm going to watch this movie. Because of much more than two main reasons: 1st -Dupunt/Chemours is in MY neighborhood (20 kms) in The Netherlands with the exact same situation.(The premiere in The Netherlands will be right THERE !!) 2nd-I am an heir of an asbestos-victim.., my father. We fought an over 5 years extended juridical case, in which a settlement wás offered by the insurer of the shipyard - cause of the asbestos exposure for decades - but that settlement was DIRECTLY refused by us. We knew a legal verdict was of much more value for others to come. And..It was. I FEEL what these guest of The Washington Post program give to the audience, give to the wider public.. ÍF only that (general) public wants to hear. I have in the meantime lot of experiences with the 'ignoring and neglecting' of invisible but knówn dangers. Angry making is that the hazardous information is already decades known to the producers but are kept silent, this while governmental inspection organisations also have their scientists who know..and knew long time ago already. The silence which rules and ruled is NOW the reason of lot of cancer dying people who do NOT knew and know anything BECAUSE all was kept silent. That not only brutal in its highest level- It's criminal. If ever there are punishments coming up than multiply these verdicts with the amount of years all was kept silent to the public. I'd like to point readers/listeners here to the ABC-Television documentary movie "Devil's Dust" in which mr. Bernie Benton is accusing - while fighting fysical with a mesothelioma - the asbestos-cement products factory. Also I point you at the latest movie about also this killing-fiber which is in the documentary movie "Breathless", brought out in 2019 by a Belgian cineast called Daniël Lambo, telling how the company Eternit moved from Western-Europe (and other parts in the world) its deadly business to India.. where people are ór unknown ór.. have NO choice in labour-finding.
This story (and movie) is very reminiscent of the movie 'Erin Brockovich' (with Julia Roberts) That too was about water, but bad chrome. The ppl was lied to; told that 'chrome in water is fine and not dangerous at all'. In this case it was Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
Been waiting since this product (teflon) first came out back when, for its chemical reality to be spotlighted so everyone can just stop and think about rushing mindlessly to the next thing, at the expense of common sense and human health. No judgment. Just NOTICE when something looks and sounds like the next big convenience. "Lift the hood", check the details, and research information until things make sense in everyday language. Democratic freedom means individual responsibility. It has ALWAYS meant individual responsibility, and this individual freedom is our greatest gift in this nation. May this moment of recognition also be a moment we humans make a deep, wide shift about this planet and how we live here. New material takes lots of water, the dies contain chemicals and the people who make them are paid "pennies" (very, very little), work in poor conditions and treated horribly. It is amazing what you find. The stores spray for bedbugs so don't buy anything that can't be thoroughly washed. I bought a 100% wool sweater that was lovely. Still is, but it shrank so small that I have my dog (min poodle) wearing it. Lol!

This is a perfect platform that I want the public to know about what happened to the Vitek Proplast Teflon TMJ jaw implants disaster that began in the early 1980’s where DuPont and the FDA knew of the dangers that Teflon has in a biological living creature as used in a loaded joint like hip and jaw joint implants... DuPont knew in the early 1960’s that Teflon will break down and cause serious harm if used in the hip implants back then... but yet, they knowingly knew, but tried to deny their involvement in the Vitek Proplast Teflon TMJ jaw implants complete and utter disaster and tragedy that is being secretly hidden from the public to this very day ( there was a 20/20 segment back in the early 1990’s regarding the Vitek Proplast Teflon disaster but after that nothing, promises from the FDA that would help us Vitek victims never came to light of day... Teflon, in which PFOA’s were used back then in the 1970-80’s, is the main material in the Vitek Proplast Teflon TMJ implants that were grandfathered by the FDA back in the 1980’s and caused SERIOUS and PERMANENT continuous SYSTEMIC damage to the patients who had them in. There was a PATHETIC recall by the FDA in the early 1990’s and there was no Implant Registry , there are absolutely ZERO TMJ implant registry’s to this very day, that’s over 40-50 years of implants that the FDA has no idea of who had them and who heard of the recall. Dark waters was an amazing and equally heartbreaking movie. Robert Bilott is one of the few true environmental hero's. For me his story is resonates even more, he started defending these corporations and switched sides. That takes guts. People bang on about the environment and how important it is, but very few take action. while it is important to change public opinion. we need more people to take action. I need to to take more action. Recycling my rubbish isn't enough. getting more of my products and food locally.. isn't enough. These people need to be held accountable.

Such a disgrace that the current dupont executive team don't front up and acknowledge that predecessors made numerous mistakes, and work with Rob and others on the future and where to from here I am gobsmacked that they are still in denial and that they would go as far as trying to discredit the movie - what a joke they are!!!

Remind you that human is the ONLY specie which can and might expose the specie and all around it. NOT a happy thought. But making "foreverchemicals" is a succesFOOL way to do so. I started working at DuPont Washington Works in July 1981,same year DuPont started putting pregnant women in the Teflon division to secretly testing the effects of PFOA on them.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and high bad cholesterol after a 4 months rebuild of the Teflon division ended December 21,1985 and January 11 was admitted to the hospital with a heart rate of 52bpm, I had a siezures on January 10 and partial siezure on January 11 and went directly to the ER. I had the highest demand for thyroid hormone in my system the doctor had ever seen. The effects of the thyroid medication and the side effects, nervousness and insomnia have wreaked havoc on my life.

But, once in a while I like to order pizza, so I hope it's safe!
If not, I'll get over it. Lol!
Only if we had more lawyers like this
Great movie Mark Ruffalo and Todd Haynes. This video seems like an extension to the movie. It shows that characters in movie have not acted out in the movie, they are just portraying their feeling in an outcry. At 38:15 when Mark speaks about the chemical company, it shows how much they are concerned about the issue. Thanks again for a great movie and this interview.

Where is the response from the organised labor unions who represent the rank and file workers in these chemical plants: This is their job: to speak up for their members....
I immediately threw out all my teflon pans right after watching this important film.
Just watched the movie
Not all heros wear capes
Love and respect to ROB
Corporations sure know how to write those lying letters. All while behind the scenes, crooked, corrupt, covering up, lying, greed of money, etc...etc., etc.
The Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filter system needs to be at the factory level. Because if it is not, our food sources are still being poisoned and it will end up in us anyway.
I work on eliminating PFAS in products and the environment. It is so important that this is getting the attention it needs
Listening to her read that letter from Dupont made my blood boil!
I'm going to watch this movie. Because of much more than two main reasons:
1st -Dupunt/Chemours is in MY neighborhood (20 kms) in The Netherlands with the exact same situation.(The premiere in The Netherlands will be right THERE !!)
2nd-I am an heir of an asbestos-victim.., my father.
BRAVO TO MARK RUFALLO AND ROBERT BILOTT WE THANK YOU BOTH FOR EXPOSING DUPONT
("… Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) (conjugate base perfluorooctanoate)-also known as C8… Wikipedia)
I fully agree, too many forfeit health for 'convenience'. Thank you.
I'm glad I stuck with stainless steel, cast iron and a couple of tin pots.
Off topic, please consider buying clothes from places like Good Will.
Lol!
@@selah71
Lol..good for the dog!! Tip: Always Dry Clean Wool, or use self dry clean kit. Beyond that, some you can hand wash w/woolite, squeeze don't wring, and reshape / flat dry on a towel. NEVER place wool in a Dryer..it Shrinks. TIP: Should you shrink wool. Place in sink w/ fabric softener /water, squeeze/reshape..pull outward sometimes it can be Saved, and flat dry.Good luck!
Thrifting is fun! I've found Ralph Lauren items with the tags still on them.
My husband and I watched this movie last night, and were dismayed to find out more details about this terrible, toxic chemical. I felt disappointed in the human species - we were entrusted with a gift, and have been very poor stewards of it.
The Vitek Proplast Teflon implants was a HUGE coverup by the manufacturer, the surgeons professional organization, surgeons but not all, and the hospital that helped with the research and promotion of the Vitek implants! The Teflon used way back then contains this PFOA Forever Chemical and was used in the Vitek Proplast Teflon TMJ jaw implants. DuPont knew in the early 1960’s that Teflon cannot withstand the forces used in a loaded joint like the hip total joints they used back then with Teflon in the TJR’s and removed them from the market, BUT, Dr Charles Homsy, an ex-DuPont employee and biomaterial engineer was continuing to research and then implement the Vitek implants after he was supposedly fired from DuPont as they said for him to stop pursuing his research... which of course he did not, and his Vitek Proplast Teflon implants were grandfathered into the FDA’s 510-K Pre-market Approval process... then later the FDA had a pathetic safety alert and recall where majority of the Vitek patients had NO idea of the recall, and there are STILL patients with these horrible implants still in them to this very day, and many surgeons will not touch them to get them removed.
Please look at the public Facebook group “We’re America’s Shameful Secret” and browse the site for info regarding what I said above and the severe medical problems due to the Teflon that was well known back then to not be used in a loaded joint, like hips and TMJ jaw joints (on that FB group is a photo of my broken and failed Vitek-Kent VK-ll Proplast Teflon TMJ total joints, and a skull drawing I did one sleepless night portraying my STILL living nightmare from Teflon and DOW Silastic IPI TMJ implants, Silastic is same as silicone but in a sheet form, and DOW’s Silastic also
was/is a systemic medical disaster just like the breast implant victims, the Silastic patients have same plus different medical problems as the silicone breast implant patients):

You make a good point about the Vitek Teflon implant disasters my own grandmother had one in her hip.
I'm a fan big fan of Mark Ruffalo for sure, nice man, clean, not drug induced like some Hollywood actors
Cheers from Australia 😊
Also cheers from Australia
I have worked on almost every piece of machinery in Teflon and 20 years later I still have a very high level and it doesn't leave your system. C-8 Science Monitoring program.
So sad. Sending love.
This is where one never forgets the upmost importance of ONE person; Rob's grandmother. Think about it. If she haven't live where she was living at the time. Would ANY of this ever have seen the light of day? Maybe. But chances are it would have gone the other way! True?
We don’t want the Hulk to get angry..
Such a disgrace that the current dupont executive team don't front up and acknowledge that predecessors made numerous mistakes, and work with Rob and others on the future and where to from here
I am gobsmacked that they are still in denial and that they would go as far as trying to discredit the movie - what a joke they are!!!
the only clean water is distilled. however, bathing and washing in water requires filtration as well.
I heard about theis chemicals in the early 90's. Don't forget about PTFT's got any plastic ? Thanks DOW, DU POUNT, 3M BASTERDS!!!! Maybe our kids will clean up our messes, if they survive. Better living through chemistry, when I heard that I went, well you can just guess what I said.
It's SO VERY SAD and to cry about that it seems that part of the evolution looks like going to be the 'end-of-people-life' caused by... people. Remind you that human is the ONLY specie which can and might expose the specie and all around it. NOT a happy thought. But making "foreverchemicals" is a succesFOOL way to do so. Is ANYBODY feeling in ANYWAY ANY responsibility ??!
I am 1of the 3557 cases,
Sending love.
at 27:50 Robert bilot talks about compressing 20 years into a 2 hr. movie - maybe they should have considered doing a mini series instead
Amazing interview!! Bravo!
SAME with Monsanto! That changing to BAYER IS TRYING TO COVER UP$$$
FYI Also THESE SAME COMPANIES
IG FARBEN DUPONT BAYER MONSANTO WERE ALSO INVOLVED IN CHEMICAL WARFARE DURING AND SINCE WW2!!
My wife died from breast cancer. She never drank or smoked. Makes me angry to hear this. And the government is rolling back environmental regulations for. Big corporation.
They knew how bad it was when they started 3m told them this been going on since the late 40searly 50s and they just did it anyway.3m sold it to Dupont
All people should be entitled to free healthcare.
How do we find the list of products that this is in?
just look on DuPonts website....especially check out their food additives!

kdmorin64 Thank you 🌺
They built their own C-8 plant in 2000 after 3M stopped supply of the chemical PFOA.
Go back in history to see exactly what the Dupont's have done.
Mind begs the question
why didnt government shut down DuPont
Because corporations control government, and government have a depopulation agenda, Agenda 21.
How is DuPont still in business?
Billions of dollars.
People keep buying their shit.
This is awful. I’m so sorry.
I like christ karate her voice and accent so beautiful🥰
DuPont is still lying to us.
So claims that DuPont killed innocent employees and community members are INACCURATE. In other words the words that were used were not EXACTLY THE WORDS THAT WERE USED IN THE MOVIE AT THE TIME.
thanks to them in 2024 fnally epa made the regulations for pfas!
are these chemicals still being used or products still in use?
Unbelievable and unimaginable,,I believe this is very true, true, yes the system is rigged, we all got that toxic chemical in our bodies,, This just tell you what kind of people are Running this country,,,
Thank you Harry Deitzlar.
Harry Deitzler
How these people can lie is just beyond me
That is a Predator Capitalism schoolbook case.
What about the FLINT WATER?
Dupont's denial seems thin enough to dissolve with some forensic accounting. What's good @NRDC? Any thoughts @LegalEagle?
What did dupont do during the 1918 pandemic?
I would like to know how many people when to jail?
None
Would regulations help like they did in the Nixon years?
No surprised. Like Monsanto Dow ate DuPont already. Will be forgotten in 1 year. . . .Du pont knows that. . .
Great work to expose Dupont!!
Don’t buy anything from DuPont. Period.
DuPont kills informants 😞
The Epa Fda etc etc are in bed with corperations.
Charge the rich man.
nice to see that the WAPO actually on the side of the good guys here - I see the next WAPO video is my newsfeed is an interview with james comey and I already know where that one will go. FBI good, trump bad.
People all worried about carbon when they really should be worried about are chemical footprint on the environment
It should be closed company next day, but what can we do American goverment help them...
and yet it is possible for someone like Donald Trump to become POTUS.....this says it all
Is that why they went to Israel?
OMG this is awful, our government do this to us,,,what an ugly story, I will share this
God bless Dupont.
When you base your national raison d'etre on money you can only expect he system to serve only that goal, you americans with your "american Dream" made this happen
#watersnobs
B
Terrible interviewer, stuttering and stammering all the time
The accents aren’t authentic unfortunately 🤣 too much carolina
You do realize it's not the point of the film, right...? And there's nothing funny about it.
