    • The world's worst industrial disaster.
    • I remember crying as a child when there was an explosion at Union Carbide chemical plant in India
    • Union Carbide Corporation is an American chemical corporation wholly owned (since February 6, 2001) by Dow Chemical Company.
    • DuPont de Nemours, Inc., commonly known as DuPont, is an American company formed by the merger of Dow Chemical and DuPont on August 31, 2017, and then subsequent spinoffs of Dow Inc. and Corteva. Prior to the spinoffs it was the world's largest chemical company in terms of sales.
I remember crying as a child when there was an explosion at Union Carbide chemical plant in India
The Bhopal disaster, also referred to as the Bhopal gas tragedy, was a gas leak incident on the night of 2-3 December 1984 at the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) pesticide plant in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is considered to be the world's worst industrial disaster.[1][2] Over 500,000 people were exposed to methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas. The highly toxic substance made its way into and around the small towns located near the plant.[3]
Estimates vary on the death toll. The official immediate death toll was 2,259. In 2008, the government of Madhya Pradesh had paid compensation to the family members of 3,787 victims killed in the gas release, and to 574,366 injured victims.[4] A government affidavit in 2006 stated that the leak caused 558,125 injuries, including 38,478 temporary partial injuries and approximately 3,900 severely and permanently disabling injuries.[5] Others estimate that 8,000 died within two weeks, and another 8,000 or more have since died from gas-related diseases.[6] The cause of the disaster remains under debate. The Indian government and local activists argue that slack management and deferred maintenance created a situation where routine pipe maintenance caused a backflow of water into a MIC tank, triggering the disaster. Union Carbide Corporation (UCC) argues water entered the tank through an act of sabotage.

      Of course they do!
Companies who have this kind of problems are told by their lawyers to not ever say sorry to the families they have effected as it will be seen as an admission of guilt... They deflect and deny, lie and cover up mistakes forgetting they too are also being exposed.
I have often thought ceo's should be given the water they pollute to drink at board meetings, fed poisoned farmed salmon at lunch, and have them being informed live on air so the world can see their reactions to this knowledge. One minute the are talking about how safe everything is and the next inducing vomiting... It would serve these liars right! Poison the lot of them with their own toxic chemicals

@@c.a.greene8395 Thanks, some times I feel I'm shouting in the wind.
(I often check the words-phrases I use, knowing miscommunications are common and easy to fall into) Dictionaries are great tools, I found this:
      @smithsmm.wordpress.com/2017/11/04/shouting-in-the-wind/
“Anything worth shouting about is worth shouting into the wind.
•Because if enough people care, often enough, the word spreads, the standards change, the wind dies down. If enough people care, the culture changes.
•It’s easy to persuade ourselves that the right time to make change happen is when it’s time. But that’s never true. The right time to make it happen is before it’s time. Because this is what ‘making’ means.
•The most devastating thing we can learn about our power is how much of it we have. How much change we could make if we would only speak up first, not last. How much influence we can have if we’re willing to look someone in the eye and say, “yes.” Or, “this is our problem, too.” Or, “this must stop.”
•Yes, there’s wind, there’s always been wind. But that doesn’t mean we should stop shouting.”

I'm going to watch this movie. Because of much more than two main reasons:
1st -Dupunt/Chemours is in MY neighborhood (20 kms) in The Netherlands with the exact same situation.(The premiere in The Netherlands will be right THERE !!)
2nd-I am an heir of an asbestos-victim.., my father. We fought an over 5 years extended juridical case, in which a settlement wás offered by the insurer of the shipyard - cause of the asbestos exposure for decades - but that settlement was DIRECTLY refused by us. We knew a legal verdict was of much more value for others to come. And..It was.
I FEEL what these guest of The Washington Post program give to the audience, give to the wider public.. ÍF only that (general) public wants to hear. I have in the meantime lot of experiences with the 'ignoring and neglecting' of invisible but knówn dangers. Angry making is that the hazardous information is already decades known to the producers but are kept silent, this while governmental inspection organisations also have their scientists who know..and knew long time ago already. The silence which rules and ruled is NOW the reason of lot of cancer dying people who do NOT knew and know anything BECAUSE all was kept silent. That not only brutal in its highest level- It's criminal. If ever there are punishments coming up than multiply these verdicts with the amount of years all was kept silent to the public.
I'd like to point readers/listeners here to the ABC-Television documentary movie "Devil's Dust" in which mr. Bernie Benton is accusing - while fighting fysical with a mesothelioma - the asbestos-cement products factory.
Also I point you at the latest movie about also this killing-fiber which is in the documentary movie "Breathless", brought out in 2019 by a Belgian cineast called Daniël Lambo, telling how the company Eternit moved from Western-Europe (and other parts in the world) its deadly business to India.. where people are ór unknown ór.. have NO choice in labour-finding.

Been waiting since this product (teflon) first came out back when, for its chemical reality to be spotlighted so everyone can just stop and think about rushing mindlessly to the next thing, at the expense of common sense and human health. No judgment. Just NOTICE when something looks and sounds like the next big convenience. "Lift the hood", check the details, and research information until things make sense in everyday language. Democratic freedom means individual responsibility. It has ALWAYS meant individual responsibility, and this individual freedom is our greatest gift in this nation. May this moment of recognition also be a moment we humans make a deep, wide shift about this planet and how we live here. This is a perfect platform that I want the public to know about what happened to the Vitek Proplast Teflon TMJ jaw implants disaster that began in the early 1980’s where DuPont and the FDA knew of the dangers that Teflon has in a biological living creature as used in a loaded joint like hip and jaw joint implants... DuPont knew in the early 1960’s that Teflon will break down and cause serious harm if used in the hip implants back then... but yet, they knowingly knew, but tried to deny their involvement in the Vitek Proplast Teflon TMJ jaw implants complete and utter disaster and tragedy that is being secretly hidden from the public to this very day ( there was a 20/20 segment back in the early 1990’s regarding the Vitek Proplast Teflon disaster but after that nothing, promises from the FDA that would help us Vitek victims never came to light of day...
Teflon, in which PFOA’s were used back then in the 1970-80’s, is the main material in the Vitek Proplast Teflon TMJ implants that were grandfathered by the FDA back in the 1980’s and caused SERIOUS and PERMANENT continuous SYSTEMIC damage to the patients who had them in. There was a PATHETIC recall by the FDA in the early 1990’s and there was no Implant Registry , there are absolutely ZERO TMJ implant registry’s to this very day, that’s over 40-50 years of implants that the FDA has no idea of who had them and who heard of the recall. The Vitek Proplast Teflon implants was a HUGE coverup by the manufacturer, the surgeons professional organization, surgeons but not all, and the hospital that helped with the research and promotion of the Vitek implants! The Teflon used way back then contains this PFOA Forever Chemical and was used in the Vitek Proplast Teflon TMJ jaw implants. DuPont knew in the early 1960’s that Teflon cannot withstand the forces used in a loaded joint like the hip total joints they used back then with Teflon in the TJR’s and removed them from the market, BUT, Dr Charles Homsy, an ex-DuPont employee and biomaterial engineer was continuing to research and then implement the Vitek implants after he was supposedly fired from DuPont as they said for him to stop pursuing his research... which of course he did not, and his Vitek Proplast Teflon implants were grandfathered into the FDA’s 510-K Pre-market Approval process... then later the FDA had a pathetic safety alert and recall where majority of the Vitek patients had NO idea of the recall, and there are STILL patients with these horrible implants still in them to this very day, and many surgeons will not touch them to get them removed.
Please look at the public Facebook group “We’re America’s Shameful Secret” and browse the site for info regarding what I said above and the severe medical problems due to the Teflon that was well known back then to not be used in a loaded joint, like hips and TMJ jaw joints (on that FB group is a photo of my broken and failed Vitek-Kent VK-ll Proplast Teflon TMJ total joints, and a skull drawing I did one sleepless night portraying my STILL living nightmare from Teflon and DOW Silastic IPI TMJ implants, Silastic is same as silicone but in a sheet form, and DOW’s Silastic also
was/is a systemic medical disaster just like the breast implant victims, the Silastic patients have same plus different medical problems as the silicone breast implant patients):

For me his story is resonates even more, he started defending these corporations and switched sides. That takes guts. People bang on about the environment and how important it is, but very few take action. while it is important to change public opinion. we need more people to take action. I need to to take more action. Recycling my rubbish isn't enough. getting more of my products and food locally.. isn't enough. These people need to be held accountable.

I heard about theis chemicals in the early 90's. Don't forget about PTFT's got any plastic ? Thanks DOW, DU POUNT, 3M BASTERDS!!!! Maybe our kids will clean up our messes, if they survive. Better living through chemistry, when I heard that I went, well you can just guess what I said.

It's SO VERY SAD and to cry about that it seems that part of the evolution looks like going to be the 'end-of-people-life' caused by... people. Remind you that human is the ONLY specie which can and might expose the specie and all around it. NOT a happy thought. But making "foreverchemicals" is a succesFOOL way to do so. Is ANYBODY feeling in ANYWAY ANY responsibility ??!

Not to mention Teflon is the main material in the Vitek Proplast Teflon TMJ implants that were grandfathered by the FDA back in the 1980’s and caused SERIOUS and PERMANENT continuous SYSTEMIC damage to the patients who had them in.
Please look at the public Facebook group “We’re America’s Shameful Secret” and browse the site for info regarding what I said above and the severe medical problems due to the Teflon that was well known back then to not be used in a loaded joint, like hips and TMJ jaw joints:

I had the highest demand for thyroid hormone in my system the doctor had ever seen. The effects of the thyroid medication and the side effects, nervousness and insomnia have wreaked havoc on my life.
