Too right on! His vocal cords are seasoned with years of smoke and drink and heartache. This is legitimately my introduction to Keith singing and I already want to hear more!
Hard to believe, the time between this gig and now is longer than the time between the gig and when Gimme Shelter was released. The days may drag sometimes, but the years sure do fly by.
The way he sings this is incredible because of his vocal delivery and that solo was amazing!!! because he's not playing super fast each note is significant. Just a very soulful performance by keef
This is the Winos not the Stones. That is why he is singing. Mick sings for the Stones. Keith put this together so he could play smaller venues. Look at the lineup Steve Jordan, Waddy, ivan Nevelle, Sara Dash I know my spelling is off. Muddy Waters played at this gig. This band is tight. If you want to pick a band apart go see another Hanna Montana show.
im glad there's still around keef who shows that music is not only a stupid sport but art ... Where you shouldn't show how fast you can shred yours stupid guitar solo but show your soul and heart .
+Super Bamse lmao he looks way older than this now, at least he's just embraced his grey hair unlike a lot of other old musicians who desperately try to keep the colour
This is raw Rock & Roll, like it should be. Everything is very close to the ground, basic and to the point. This song is made for Keith's voice. I say this is better than anything The Stones have put out there in a while.
This song IS Keith. The way he does it here it is 100% Memphis Blues. Best version of this song I have ever heard. To me the original sounds like a Santana knockoff. This one ROCKS!!
Is this the Aragon Ballroom? I've only seen the outside of it. Keith doesn't have the best vocals in the world, but he works with them, and his little changes work with this song. The back-up singer is great, though I wish the sound of her was louder. I also like the little addition of the harmonica in there--a nice change. It's great to have Bobby Keys on sax too...a faithful friend. All in all, it's enjoyable and the audience is loving it. Keith doesn't claim to be the greatest guitarist; he says he's really a rhythm guitarist not a lead guitarist, and that he's no Jeff Beck or Jimi Hendrix. Plus he's always saying how Charlie Watts is so essential. Keith plays to a song, not elaborate solo parts like Jimmy Page, Beck, etc. Solo like this, you can really get a sense of who Keith is and his signature sound.
@jackhamre I think it was 92 -93, when his second solo album came out. I saw this on PBS ( who woulda thought?) I thought it was part of Austin City Limits, but could be wrong. Got chills the first time I saw it with Keith on vocals
Next life I wish to play with Keith and Chuck. It's not a matter of skills on guitar: it's a way of life. Then I can die again and live another life as a cat or a dog.
Keith has the pipes of an old black blues man. sing it !!
Girl u ain't neva lied. I love ❤️ him!!

RIP Sarah Dash.....a powerhouse vocalist.
THIS! Is! FREAKING AWESOME!
Hard to believe, the time between this gig and now is longer than the time between the gig and when Gimme Shelter was released. The days may drag sometimes, but the years sure do fly by.
cool observation. It was 24 years since Gimme Shelter release when this was filmed. Now it's been 27 years since this concert.

I simply love keith Richards!!!
I’ve loved Keith since I was a teenager, I’m near 60, and he still rocks my world
Awesome performance...been listening to Keith work a guitar for well over 40 years now. Look forward the next 40.
No Question Keith Richards is the best
I'm so in love with Keith Richards. 😍❤😘

He can sing his ass off. I love it. Playing good too.

KEITH is the best!! It was him that decided The Stones would pay for Hubert's funeral expenses ... he's the man!!
Sensationell!!! Keith Du bist mein Hero! Rock'n Roll ...
best version ever
Oh, lord...this os absolutely amazing!!! Keith is a full frontman!!!
Keith is rock. Love live Keith
This video gives me major chills. It makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
I Love Keith Richards, is God😎
I'm convinced Keith Richards has stopped aging. This is 20 years ago and he looks exactly the same now.
+Super Bamse lmao he looks way older than this now, at least he's just embraced his grey hair unlike a lot of other old musicians who desperately try to keep the colour
Super Bamse besides the white hair
I seriously think that fall from the coconut tree had a profoundly negative effect on Keith. He doesn't seem as tall as he was.
You having a laugh
He looks older, but he seems to have done most of his ageing between about 1985 and 95
This song is like a prophecy for such a time as this in 2021 🤔🌏💔💜

winos are way better than the Stones
@wtnomad Keith Richards is still performing with the Stones in his mid seventies
Saw Keith and the boys two nights earlier at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, MN. Great memory!
Love this version ..
Man i wish Mick would play his harp live too. This version is top notch!
Gimme gimme that song every day!

i love the fact that bobby keys was sitll in keefs crew even when keef went solo.
a shame songs like these gather a few thousand (good) watchers.
The world is just vanishing, as Keith's brain is going....
For some reason, I really like the vocals. Magnetism.
Happy Birthday Keith
bless you for sharing
Saw them at the Aragon Chicago, same week, amazing.
Keith is evil on this - awesome! Bobby Keyes up the back with the sax.
Great show with Bobby Keys, the eternal friend !
Give me Keith's gritty vocals over Jagger anyday
This song IS Keith. The way he does it here it is 100% Memphis Blues. Best version of this song I have ever heard. To me the original sounds like a Santana knockoff. This one ROCKS!!
+nyshortline You're crazy. The original is immortal; this sounds like a tired bar band soundcheck.
We're all entitled to our opinions. :)
Some more sensical than others.
The mono version of the original >
My favorite song by the Stones. Done by them or by Keith and the winos..doesn't matter, its all good
KEEF wrote and sings it with SOUL
Keith....styling!
Keef rocks Gimme Shelter!
Keef💪Great fn song. Black chick killing it.
there will be no more 40. the man is on his end.
But I agree he was a great, GREAT one.
I'd like to know the woman's name on backing vocals...WOW! I got goosebumps.
Sarah Dash
Happy birthday Keith 12/18- 👌♥️♥️♥️🌈🗽👀

Keithat his best
Keith and Waddy were really good together.
Ah...Keith Richards in an intimate venue. How great it would have been to be there.
I think I was there- if this was Keith’s show at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Soul Asylum was the opener!
bless you!
What a voice
I think Keith did the original vocals on Gimme Shelter & Jagger did You've Got The Silver and ultimately switched vocal duties.
Keith is GOD!!!!!!!
happy 70th Keef!!!!!!
@jackhamre I think it was 92 -93, when his second solo album came out. I saw this on PBS ( who woulda thought?) I thought it was part of Austin City Limits, but could be wrong.
Got chills the first time I saw it with Keith on vocals
the Keef's song...the best
Keith
Next life I wish to play with Keith and Chuck.
It's not a matter of skills on guitar: it's a way of life.
Then I can die again and live another life as a cat or a dog.
I liked his voice too
got bto love STeve Jordan
he sings here in a very Mark Knopfler way... he's the coolest guy on the planet
Nobody can replace Charlie...... but this video shows Steve Jordan is up to the job.
Yaaaaaaaahhh!!! BOBBY!
incorrect lyrics above
Keith is the man
Best live version-better than the Stones!
i love his version. the vocals are way moree dramatic here
Fuck, fuck & fuck!! Excelent 😲
I was working at BALLY's in Las Vegas when they played, I snuck in for two songs on my break !
Why wasn't Keith Richards the lead singer for the Stones ?!? He can actually SING !!
is that Sinbad playing maracas?
walking dead should use this version for one of their musical sequences
Is he playing a Music Man guitar?
Yeah, it's an ernie ball silhouette by music man..he played them on the steel wheels tour and quite a bit with the whinos
始まりがもう、ワクワクする悪さあるもんね!!
やっぱキースは悪い!!!笑
This is Evil as it was written, not a good boy Trying to be bad...but The Man...saw him in Van. doing this...SOLID!
Delicious… just delicious😘
Keith sounds like young Lemmy
I honestly like is voice more than jaggers
Love Keith but this aint near Jagger.
They dont get no nastier than Keith it should have an advisory warning!
Sara Dash uh huh
keef. aint no doubt
He can play guitar
Snow brains.
Keith is a great guitarist, but this song needs to be sung by Mick Jagger along with the back-up singers he had at Tokyo Dome in 1988.
Mick is a poser with talent
Keith has country blues soul with talent
Denis couldnt have said it better myself
That was 27 years ago now, and he's a face lift and a dye job away from looking like that now
No to be compared with stones 1973. Sorry Keith - that is nothing..
