Interesting to see how the adjustments and changes to the saw have made it a real performer. It looks like the spark arrestor screen was still on it. They are OK for a stock saw, but a bit restrictive on a hot rod. I always run my 610's with the screen off in the wet weather, and clean them and put them back on in the dry weather. The saws run a bit better without them. Looking forward to the next mods your are going to do, and see the results. For those commenters that say the 610's are heavy, remember my moto (If you have to complain about the weight, that means you are a WEENIE, and need to toughen up !)
I have an expansion chamber off a McCulloch kart engine I will try. The stock 610 muffler is a strange looking device, but is actually a tuned resonance exhaust. . It is not however a fully tuned exhaust.@@Smittyschainsaws
@@mrobsoletesvintagehomestea9156 my next video is kinda going to prove what you just stated. I actually have a few videos on weather or not I can get something else to perform better.
l have a 610 myself with an under and up Iron Horse type of pipe that exits thru the bottom window in the side cover . Off hand i would estimate that I have like 16hrs in the making of it. What a difference it makes in power ...well worth the effort.
I keep checking back waiting for this video and it did not disappoint!!! This is a cool build. I ported a smaller 38cc version of this saw and surprised how much I like it but I think it needs a custom muffler like what you’re saying with that 610. I seem to hit a wall at 12,000 rpms. Fun to play with these.
I’ve got a non ported 610 with a stock carb that runs HOT and will happily eat through anything faster than any other saw I own! It runs way better in the sub freezing temps
I picked up 2 610’s from Eric Salyer at SawFest. 1 is roasted and I used parts from it to get the TimberBear running. It’s a good and my my it’s so dang loud. 😂
😮😮 is there a baffle in the muffler take it out if that's not enough take muffler off of the chainsaw use a torch 2 open the muffler up more it has 2 get more air then or do a w the muffler and use a peace ✌ 😊 straight pipe 4 exhaust that saw should run alot better then and pull like tractor 🚜 😊 4 the small wood 😊😊 OMG 1O 12 2O24
It runs so much better with the different carb. Will be great to see it with a nice ground chain. One of the peppiest Mac’s I have seen.
Thanks buddy!

I’m trying a few things out but I’m mostly going to let you handle the muffler how you want. I’m just doing a few experiments to ease my curiosity.

Thanks buddy!

Where did you find that air filter setup?
eBay. Meant for go cart. Go with foam filter. These ones don’t stop the fines.
I have three of those 610 Max
Nice!
did you hone the cyl, an if so what size hone did you use on the 610
No hone. Just cleaned up

I think the mcbrick is my new favorite. I have three. They are ugly, but they got personality.
