  • With this tracker 1542 I can launch nearly anywhere and catch bass that are virgin and eager to bite! I can fish 3 people for it's stable. With the tricked out trolling motor I can go about 5 miles with one battery. Along with the special rudder, front deck and anchoring system, it really gets the job done!

Two years later this motor is going strong ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite

@Joey Word Hey now, what's with the name calling? There's plenty of creativity in rough neighborhoods. But I'm sure you'd prefer to live behind your convenient curtain of ignorance. God forbid you actually learn something. I'll give you an opportunity: Google Nipsey Hussle. He just passed away so there are plenty of articles highlighting his acclaimed music, as well as him giving back to his community, which I guarantee makes him a better man than you could ever dream of being. Keep up trying to be macho behind a keyboard; I'm sure it will get you so far in life.

He is "The Legend" - his passion has never faded in a lifetime of sharing his love of fishing. Here is a guy who dominated the BASS circuit in his day with all of it's glitz, glamour, fame and fortune, yet today can bring his style of enthusiasm to rigging up a Jon boat with mostly DYI rigging so that nearly anyone within the reach of UA-cam can share in this passion..The definition of G.O.A.T. has Roland Martin's picture next to it.

Many times toting the cooler of fish was heavier then the boat. He had a 1652 at home but the 10' was the ticket. Me and my kids are now fishing out of the 10' that was once his. Roland, I was a mid 20’s kid and I met you after fishing out of your marina back in the early 80’s. Went shiner fishing with an old shiner guide..Lloyd Forbus (I believe was his last name.) Still have a pic of me shaking your hand. You were kind, considerate and very friendly, even though that was the days you were the BIG bass fishing star! Was always grateful to you for that. I have fished out of you guys marina there six or eight times since in the past 30+ years. Love the Big O and the Martins.

Perfect! If you can't have fun in a jon boat, you just don't know how to have fun.
Plus, I don't know anybody that has not left the drain plug out. It adds a little excitement!

I found a Roland Martin lure while fishing. I believe it from the 70s and is in really good shape.

A Real pleasure watching you fishing brother...I'm a fan of coarse...I've watched all the classics I could possibly watch and I've been fishing since a little kid with just a cane pole lol...in my growing up transition I lost track a little but when I found time I was walking a trail somewhere with a rod and reel and now I'm more free than before and I'm fishing every family trip...I've found rest stops with good fishing etc...still an inspiration keep slinging lines...be Blessed

Mr. Martin glad to have found you again. I am 53 now but have watched you for many years in the past. You inspired me back then and it is just pure joy to see you doing exactly what you have always done. You are and have always been very inspirational to me and I am overjoyed to be able to experience it again so many years later. Thank you! You’re friend from Connecticut. P.S Remember the first CT River B.A.S.S tournament out of Hartford?

Getting myself a 1542 very soon for a winter project. I've built several tin boats over the years from simple to full on bassboat. Sadly selling my ProCraft hopefully this season if not in the Spring. To put it simply new or used full sized trucks are just out of my price range now that I'm retired. Not to mention the smaller boat is easier for me to handle on my own after too many surgeries too. I like that that model is rated for up to 25hp as well, should scoot right along if I decide to put an OB onto it. Plus my daily driver car can easily tow this thing on a lightweight trailer, saves me a ton of money and an extra vehicle. I just want to bass fish and these seem to fit everything I'm looking for. Thanks for the video.

Good catch on that plug Roland. I forgot my plug one time. It's was the first time I put it in at this one particular Lake up in in Ohio, and the park ranger was there checking me out stem to stern. Life jackets, registration, fishing license, anchor, horn, this guy didn't miss a beat. I'd bet he looked at my plug too. I caved under pressure. I forgot to put my plug in. I sure felt like a yo-yo. I was just about to pull the trailer out and he said that you may want to pull your boat back out and put the plug-in. I swear the one and only time that has ever happened. Rookie mistake. This was so good a catch on that plug. That was back mid 80s when you guys were teaching us how to be better fisherman all winter long on TV. Good to see you on you tube Roland. Tight Lines and Good Fishin

I have been fishing in the U.P. off of a 1436 jon boat for years. Everything from rivers, to inland lakes, to Lake Superior on a calm day. Everything from blue gills and walleyes to trout and salmon. Can't beat a jon boat you can just throw in the back of a truck and go. I don't want the headache of a big boat, rather have a friend with a big lake boat.
