Evidently a lot of you want a deep dive repair video so I'll make it happen, as soon as I have time for a longer edit again! Moving my entire business to a new place will take a while so please be patient.
Please keep your repair footage and battle damage in your videos, in my opinion, seeing how you deal with those challenges gives a great insight into robot combat for myself and others
I’d love to see the damage and repair process of these fights. As somebody who’s trying to get into the sport and be competitive, I want to see what works, what doesn’t, and what you’re better off not having.
I love seeing the dammage aftermath and equally importantly your diagnosis of what happened and opportunity's for further strengthening and optimizations, its a very key part of the iterative design process and generally how progress unfolds for technology
I see you took the Remy approach to filming some of your fights. I love it. Also some great fights and those carbon fiber top panels I ordered from you were awesome in my event in Minnesota. Will order more of those from you. And for anyone else who needs high quality 3d printed parts Seth’s got great equipment and great prices with speedy service
I actually filmed every fight on both my main camera and a Go 3 stuck to my chest, though it was by first time using the latter and I framed a few of them really badly. Lessons learned
Great first showing for div 4, a few teething issues but looks like with a few tweeks to the mobility of it it would have breezed through these fights.
14:44; do I even need to say anything? This is definitely the most powerful Division thus far. (Edit) Also props to the mini bot for somehow still driving after that.
you have probably already have thought about it but nonetheless I feel like there may be a way to adjust the UHMW uprights geometry to allow division to drive inverted. Although I have not thought about it extensively and there's probably 90 reasons why that wouldn't work. I almost wonder if rollers on top of the uprights would be able aid in driving forward inverted.
if i were to guess the reason that youre having so many issues driving is that your wheels are too far from your center of mass when theyre too far back and you have so much mass in the front it puts a lot of resistance on the whole system in general i find its optimal to have your wheels just behind the center of mass for optimal drive idk maybe im wrong but its probably worth checking on
I think you're right and I already commented on this in the video. It's not completely trivial to move the center of gravity further toward the wheels tho, may need to shorten the entire robot and then I run into problems like the battery not fitting anymore. When I have some time to work on a redesign though I'll try to shorten it somehow.
Can anyone explain to me why omini wheels are not so commum? The ability to point the weapoj to the oponet at all time has to be a massive advantage, also you could orbit the oponent to pick the spot to hit. I'm totaly noob so please explain to me
One more question, dont you guys use 2 directions ESCs to spin the other way atoud when you are upside down? Or get youself unstuck like in that ripper fight, if he had that he may have had the chance to wiggle free
Added complexity is something we try to avoid for combat robots and omni wheels require 3 independant drive motors at minimum while most 4 wheel drive bits only need 2 and belt drive the other 2. Omni wheels also have rollers so they get way worse traction
I do have bidirectional. Weapon control but my blade tooth only faces one way so it's not really helpful. I'll probably use different symmetrical blades that can reverse in future.
They also tend to just explode and jam if you hit them because they are a lot more complex then just a piece of rubber or foam, which isn't a problem in things like FIRST robotics, but very much a problem in combat robotics. They're also more dependent on your body being straight since if any of them lose grip with the ground, you lose a lot of pushing power or even just control of your bot compared to a tank steer bot, especially if you get hit and the frame gets bent. And like Seth said you lose a lot of drive power just by having them, a mechanum drive bot needs twice the motor power to just function, are boned if they lose one and still have less pushing power than a 2 motor 2 wheel or 4 wheel bot. Omni works for rear wheels if you have a 4wd setup for better turning but in most cases the complexity and fragility doesn't benefit the advantages.
Use the contact us form on my site, tell me the exact order number and when it was placed and we will figure it out. Sometimes things get lost in shipping.
Hey Seth, your fight against Little Man is currently incorrectly timed on NHRL's stats page. Might be worth telling someone about it after this net event, as it's one of the fastest fights ever.
That's necessary for inverted driving though as they need to wrap around the whole back, top and bottom of the robot. It's definitely not ideal though.
The funny part of this video is (what are you smoking and where can I get some) and wow this division doesn't break like the last one. But what if you put mini wheels at the front to make it to have more movement because I see you are having problems moving forward
When designing originally I did consider trying to do 4 wheel drive, but it would be a lot of additional weight and complexity to implement. I think shifting the weight distribution a bit or shortening the whole robot might help get more weight onto the wheels and help a lot.
It doesn't make much difference if you have a hubmotor with some added mass as the flywheel which also drives the weapon, or a hubmotor in the weapon driving a separate flywheel. But I'd imagine as a bot you rather have your anti-gyro go down but your weapon still working than your weapon going down and your anti-gyro still working (which would just make it gyro anyways). Also this is not a daft suggestion at all, keep thinking outside the box!
I considered that originally early in the design, but there are a few issues with that. I would be very limited in motor options to get one with high enough KV and need like 2500kV or more, and it would mean one more ESC or motor that can fail. It would also be extremely difficult to synchronize the speeds of the weapon and flywheel, my mechanical linkage does this 'for free' pretty well with some lag time due to slip.
So the original song the intro is based on is Jessica by the Allman brothers, which is 50 years old. But I took this sound clip from the Top Gear intro which is actually a modified version of the song and for whatever reason, no copyright claim as a result. Even if there is a claim though I don't care as UA-cam adsense is worth like $10-20 in the next year.
It's slightly coincidental, both are invertible. 2wd verts so they inevitably have to have the same general shape. Sonic is designed completely differently however
Man kitbots are so lame. I get their point, but they definitely shouldn’t be optimized out of the box. SSP is one thing but d2s and peter bars just seem like you have no need to upgrade them ever.

ripperoni is asymmetrical and iirc lil rip's anti-gryo doesn't actually work for them so, while this is not a copy of that bot,. even if it was a copy your take would still be deeply unserious
Actually the 30lb Lil-Rip doesn't have a counter gyro at all, they tried making one with an independent motor and it exploded into flames. The 250lb one also has an independant motor for the flywheel, my friction drive system is pretty unique. Division is the only combat robot in the world that I'm aware of using a hubmotor weapon and a counter gyro flywheel.

Seconded
+1 on this
Definitely! Super insightful
I agree with you
This. It tells the story in a better way
Keep the fights coming, bro, and the videos. Everything this is so good.
I’d love to see the damage and repair process of these fights. As somebody who’s trying to get into the sport and be competitive, I want to see what works, what doesn’t, and what you’re better off not having.
I'd love to see another deep dive in the damage and the things that went wrong. like a deep dive on the theory and a deep dive on the practice.
I love the Top Gear style intro :)
I would love a damage repair video! That would be so cool
I would absolutely be interested in a repair video, that was alway neat to see.
that last fight was very close, but I think the judges made the right call.
Impressive start for Division V4 overall. Looking forward to see more fights of Division in the next NHRL.
I love the damage overviews
I love seeing the dammage aftermath and equally importantly your diagnosis of what happened and opportunity's for further strengthening and optimizations, its a very key part of the iterative design process and generally how progress unfolds for technology
I love how the flywheel feeds back into the weapon after a hit so you can quickly follow it up with another. And damn does it hit hard.

I mean, is that the fastest a mini bot's ever gone? 32mph into the lights is phenomenal! Holy crow!
class intro right there- subscribed off the basis of it alone🔥
LEGENDARY intro- great vid as always~!✨💛🔥
Thank you!
Division V4 does look slower and less chaotic, less destruction and unpredictability and more bulky and durable.
Slower is definitely a very fixable issue down to my poor choice of drive motors
Saying “what are your smoking and where do I get some” is wild😭
Would love to see a detailed damage report and how would you mitigate it in the future

What do you mean, it already can drive inverted...
Frankly I don't remember
I think I may be insane

So much weight on the front makes a lot of ftiction. Are teflon glide pads a thing used in combat robotics?
No, since ground game is important usually ground scraping sharp edges are important.
Is a compromise possible to have a smaller flywheel to get some stabilizing forks?
Robot autopsies are my actual favorite type of video, please do make them
love the top gear intro!
I realy would like to see a morte deep vídeo about.
By the way, excelent video as allways!!
Let’s gooo, very excited for this one!
I'd love to see the damage and repairs
Big disk energy
I would love to see your repair video.
You could legit put together a montage showing a hit you took and quickly cut to the resulting damage.
ceiling lights do be the best control tool

So, disassemble the mini bot. Got it.
I would love to see a deep dive damage repair video
What would you say your shipping time is I live in Minnesota. Just wondering because I ordered a bunch of parts.
Shipping is usually pretty quick, I try to pack orders and ship them 3 times a week
Ok ✅
I ordered parts three weeks ago
Use the contact us form on my site, tell me the exact order number and when it was placed and we will figure it out. Sometimes things get lost in shipping.
Hey Seth, your fight against Little Man is currently incorrectly timed on NHRL's stats page. Might be worth telling someone about it after this net event, as it's one of the fastest fights ever.
I think it would be a great idea to keep the videos separate
Yes, I'd watch a deep dive / repair video.
18:25 Is that mini bite force
No but there is a multibot pair called Battletots in 12lb class with a mini bite force and mini ribbot
fan bot design reviews, commissions, robot rumble 2 vids
What do you mean by commissions? Fanbot Design reviews actually could be fun
@JustCuzRobotics some ppl may not be skilled in making a bot or have the time, but still dream of their design and want it built
i love this new version but the super far back wheels hurt my soul, moving them forward will greatly help your driving issues!
That's necessary for inverted driving though as they need to wrap around the whole back, top and bottom of the robot. It's definitely not ideal though.

But I'm thinking it would not fit because this is a small bot :/
When designing originally I did consider trying to do 4 wheel drive, but it would be a lot of additional weight and complexity to implement. I think shifting the weight distribution a bit or shortening the whole robot might help get more weight onto the wheels and help a lot.
14:45 Deep Six ass damage
i wanna see a damage and repair video!
Please show repair footage
This may be a daft suggestion but could the motor be the fly wheel?

At first, How It's Made, but then, Bad Obsession Motorsport.
That intro song is not copyrighted?

I want repair footage please🙏🙏🙏🙏
Sad my esc didn't arm lol
Same. It would have been an epic match!
What are you smoking and where can i get some i the funniest thing ive heard all week😂😂
Next time get the mini bot first!
repair videos could be cool.
Is it me or does division v4 look suspiciously like sonic🤔
It's slightly coincidental, both are invertible. 2wd verts so they inevitably have to have the same general shape. Sonic is designed completely differently however
haha did they know the flywheel was removed?
Clearly they did not
Man kitbots are so lame. I get their point, but they definitely shouldn’t be optimized out of the box. SSP is one thing but d2s and peter bars just seem like you have no need to upgrade them ever.
Why steal the opeming format to a once great tv program that has f all to do with robots? Be unique.....
