Love👏 this👏 so 👏 much 👏
Great tune & beautiful art. Well done love.
Thank you! I'm glad you like it. ❤️
A great tribute to a great artist! I think I'll watch it once more, this time on full screen. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome, Rick. Thank you!
Awesome
Thanks very much!
Awesome video and a great reminder of the days when we had great covers that made you want to pick the book up.
Definitely agree! Thanks very much.
Superbe ! J'adore Robert McGinnis ! A French reader and Books collector... Thx for this video... 👍
Hello! Thank you for commenting. Welcome to my channel. 👋
Crime writers like Carter Brown & co and were so lucky back in the day to have their books illustrated by such a great artist. Most modern covers are so uninspired when compared to these. When you see a McGinnis cover, it just puts you in the right mood straight away and makes you want to open the book. It whets your appetite. Great video, thanks.
I agree, Antoine. Thank you!
Those are some great covers! (And some great titles too 😜)
They are pretty cool, Dave! I'm glad you made it through Beryl okay. 🙏
Beautiful cover art. Great tribute and I enjoyed singing along to Edison Lighthouse (my neighbours maybe enjoyed it less at 6am 😂)
Thanks, Debs! A little payback for all the noise they make. 😆 Take care!
Beautiful
His work is beautiful! Thanks for your comment.
An interesting marketing technique. Back in the day, paperback books were in six feet spans. Stacked several books deep, with only the top third showing. Grocery stores common selling points. Westerns did the same things, in that similar vein. Placement on the racks dictated cover shock. Well done on the selections. Shows an era long past.
Thanks, Chuck! 📚
Starting Rocket Summer with a bang.
🚀
Hi Jim. I love McGinnis' art... although, in general, I prefer his earlier work more. I also like your choice of music. 😉
Thanks, Steve! It's a great song. 🎶
I just came back from a bike ride. Watched this and got another work out :)
Yeah, it's a good dance tune.
@@MysteryandMayhem-gr7nn Facts!
I'm looking for this DVD : "Robert Mc Ginnis, painting the last rose of summer" A film by Paul Gilbert. Impossible to find in France. Do you know where I can find it on the internet? Thanks a lot.
I haven't heard of this film before. I looked on Amazon, and it's currently unavailable. I'd like to have a copy myself. 🤔
Good stuff Jim. I’m guessing these were done from working directly with models?
Thanks! My guess would be that he worked from actual models. I don't have his book, "The Art of Robert E. McGinnis," but I imagine that might tell us more about his process.
I want to say he did use models, although he may have used some photo stills. I couldn't imagine Audrey Hepburn or Peter O'Toole sitting for hours with him for the movie posters he did. I believe I read somewhere he used models in some fashion for his work.
Thanks,Tim! That makes sense.
@@MysteryandMayhem-gr7nn you're welcome, Jim. I really like the video.
I appreciate that, Tim! 🙏
