Lead singer was Tony Burrows, who was all over the place in the 70s. He had success with "Gimme Dat Ding" (the Pipkins), "My Baby Loves Lovin'" (White Plains), and "United We Stand" (Brotherhood of Man). Burrows was also lead vocalist on the single "Beach Baby" (1974) for another studio-only group, First Class.
I miss this kind of uplifting music. Life isn't all peaches and cream, but it's not all anger and depression, either, and I feel that somewhere along the line, rock became too self-consciously "cool" to simply be fun sometimes. That's not to say I want a steady diet of bubblegum, but we could probably all use more happy music in our lives.
This was the perfect car radio single. It's not overly compressed like many later pop hits, but the guitar, bass and vocals just keep rolling along with a steady but not boring groove that is easy to follow in a noisy environment like a car or a public place. It's hard to write and produce a pop song this good; a lot of talent went into this record.
Now it's time for Spiral staircase More today than yesterday. Other singers have covered it, but nothing like the original. You guys remind me of my son and girlfriend. Love watching you
One of the greatest one-hit wonders. Funny thing is lead singer Tony Burrows was a five-time one hit wonder singer with five different bands. Now I'm going to have this stuck in my head for the rest of the evening. LOL
A lot of companies, like Amazon, use seventies hits in their commercials. I guess the happy vibe sells products. We had so much fun back then. Can't help but wonder if one reason people are so miserable these days is the music they listen to. The biggest smiles I see these days are reaction videos like yours on UA-cam. Got to be a connection there it seems to me!
Great upbeat timeless tune from 1970. Lead singer Tony Burrows was the lead singer for hit songs around the same time. United we Stand by Brotherhood of Man, Gimme dat Ding Pipkins, Beach Baby by First Class, My Baby loves Lovin by White Plains. Was from the UK. Highly recommend United we Stand!!
It was used in the movie "Shallow Hal"...this video is known for the fact that the band you see is not the band on the recording. The singer behind this song was responsible for a number of hits under different band names.
The Wolf Hunterz this was in a movie with Jack Black and Gwyneth Paltrow called shallow Hal Gwyneth Paltrow plays a girl named Rosemary, who is obese, but due to Hypnosis Jack Black character could only see the inner beauty of people and he falls in love with her.
Heh-heh! Oo! Oo! Bubble-Gum Pop Music! Takes me back to elementary school days and am radio at the city park swimming pool. Edison Lighthouse was, I'm pretty sure, not a real band, but was instead a songwriter and producer's project using studio sessions musicians. Another similar project made music under the band name White Plains.
@@michaelasay8587 Yep, and other similar projects, I think The Ohio Express and The Nineteen-Ten Fruitgum Company were the same sort of studio "bands."
Such a feel good song. Love it
Diann....not much love today in this crazy crazy world...
Zero harm came from songs like this 👏🏼👏🏼

What happened to the artist of today. How come they can't play this kind of catching music. I'm 67 and use to put me very happy!
