She was such a cute kid. The fact that she was so young and being bullied into losing weight and getting plastic surgery is heartbreaking. She looks beautiful, she always did, but I can't help but feel sadness knowing she already had to change so much of her appearance and behavior at only 18.

I honestly feel a bit concerned for kpop's beauty standards lately, more than before, and especially towards female idols. From the weight, the waist to hip ratio obsession, and the surgeries. This isn't "girl power" as fans love calling it. It's concerning, to say the least, and it's all encouraged and most times forced by the agencies themselves. The results in the audience doesn't just affect young fans who look up to these idols, but also older people and to their own idol peers. Imagine getting Botox when you're under 20 years old. Beauty standards are getting crazier and crazier. A beauty before and after. Edit: guys I meant "younger than 20". I will now modify it.
To be fair, I got masseter botox in my early 20s (would’ve had it earlier if I’d known about it), due to TMJ issues and jaw clenching. But it’s not completely shocking to me, since it’s something I also have experience with at a younger age.
can we just stop supporting minors debuting in kpop? this is just one of the terrible things they're going to have to go thru: unnecessary and premature plastic surgery forced on them by exploitative companies who use their debut as blackmail more often than not.

i think there's nothing wrong as long as they aware about what life they are going to go. people who debut in young age is the one that is more likely to be successful cause they have been in industry longer and exposure to being young
@@miakayuki1068 except the thing is... they are more often than not not fully aware of what they are entering into until they're already in it. can't tell you how many idols have come out wishing they had debuted later bc they were not able to experience a normal childhood, and how it has affected them physically and mentally. in addition, i will never be okay with such young idols (esp ones that are still developing) being forced to diet or even get plastic surgery, especially because they are at a fragile stage when they are still trying to figure themselves out. also, if they debut much later, they will most likely have more time to hone and develop their talents, so by the time they debut, they are well equipped and more than ready. also, the wellbeing and safety of these young idols >>>>>>>>>>>> success. it's jarring how so many people claim to want to protect the youth yet they are perfectly fine and even find justifications for them to participate in such toxic industries at such tender young ages. but hey, at least they'll be successful, right??? bc success is all that matters, right???🤦♀️🤦♀️ i mean, who cares if idol A has developed an unhealthy body image as a result of the diets she was forced into when she became a trainee and an idol at age 14? who cares if idol B got plastic surgery at age 15 (when she possibly hasn't even grown into her face) to fit the toxic beauty standards? at least they'll be successful! 😐😐
i'm just surprised at how doctors still opt to do work on her considering her low body weight. she's beautiful, nonetheless, and whatever opinions you may have of her, at the end of day it's not truly her fault. she is a product of the industry's harsh expectations. i hope kpop fans can stop supporting children entering the entertainment industry. it's harmful no matter what.
I agree that she is probably too low weight to be operated on but I don’t any of the named procedures listed occur under general anaesthetic, even rhinoplasty is sometimes done under local anaesthetic.
@@y.s2470 it's not just about anesthetic but if ur at a certain weight ur body cannot repair/heal properly. scarring will be more abundant and blood clots would take longer. the healing process in general would be delayed. it seems dangerous and irresponsible to me for anybody with as low of a body weight as her to be operated on.
I think you guys have to realize that you are not from South Korea. Wonyoung’s body type is actually the most desirable body type in Korea & they consider that to be “healthy”. We think that’s sad & wrong. But if you think about how us Americans think being fatter is healthier. Which Koreans & actually all Asian culture think that’s disgusting. 1:42 wow this look is such a serve, and its kind of sad to think wonyoung never got to see herself grow into her own features like most people can. im so sad she ever felt like she had to change... for herself, for her fans, for the public, for anyone.
I was so shocked when she left pd48 and then debuted with a new face. It was so crazy because she is SO young. She is gorgeous and it makes sense why she’s the it-girl. I fear for her mental health with all the hate she gets, and the harsh beauty standards joining in.

Its funny because every human has asymmetries on their face, if only the haters looked in the mirror they would have noticed their asymmetrical features before teasing Wonyoung.
@@lavienrosewon8811 not really. her chin doesn't stick downward as much, not to mention, her chin is a lot more projected if you look at her side profile.
I feel so bad for her, I can't imagine how much pressure she has to be the prettiest she can be and she probably feels worse now cuz of the hate she's getting :'(
Surgery is part and parcel for this visual driven industry. It's crazy, I recall following gen 1 kpop way back when and surgery was very seldom, and even then, it was just for double eyelids and that was already a big deal lol. Wonyoung was adorable in PD48. She looks stunning now but I wonder how her face will look as she ages due to her more invasive works.
You are so right... Kpop nowadays is all about surreal, perfect, fabricated visuals and if you pay attention if there is a group member that is more natural, less "enhanced" they ALWAYS get hate. If they are not borderline anorexic they also get hate. Not to mention that they keep debuting idols younger and younger. I like the music but frankly I'm beyond disgusted with both the industry and most fans at this point.😢
Like wonyoung no idol is ever be excluded on these arguments. The real question is Who are the few ones that has never done something on the face for beauty. I know they might be but are veryyy few. Idols are not born that way and it looks Like the standars are beign more and more ridículous extreme so we should not ve surprise by wonyoung. Even in boy groups they are not that handsome naturaly the reality is before beign famous they were not Like that.
She’s beautiful regardless but these small tweaks do make quite a difference when added up. It still looks like her and they are really natural looking, but people could start thinking that the improved versions of idols are just how they are and I see how this can affect this generation’s self-confidence.
Honestly no, I hate these "small tweaks". If you ask me a lot of gg members faces look the same. Since they all get the same procedures done, get white washed etc. Before she looked like an individual. A person. Now she looks like a doll and it goes into uncanny valley territory. It's not her fault but can parents please protect their minor kids from this? Teenagers aren't fit to make these decisions. And it might negatively affect her for years to come. Not to mention some young girl lacking confidence or sadly getting things done herself cause she doesn't have the idol doll face.
She was so naturally pretty before, it's awful that they forced her to do all this surgery when she could have been much more beautiful now without it.
ever since she was my bias in izone, she started to look different but i just couldn’t put my finger on it. this video really clarified everything, thanks!
wonyoung was so naturallly beautiful before she was influenced by people’s beauty standards ☹️ she still is gorgeous, but it’s heartbreaking how much scrutiny she and so many other young kpop idols face at such a young age.
Wonyoung is surely one of the most beautiful idols out there and I love her and IVE so much . But I think this video is very important for those teenagers who feel insecure about their appearance and compare themselves to her. Expensive skincare and workout routines bring a lot of change to overall appearance.
wonyoung is such a naturally beautiful girl, and I only want her to get plastic surgery if SHE genuinely wants it. I’ve been really worried about her health, because each time I see her she’s getting thinner and thinner. it seems very drastic, so I hope she is ok and eating good and healthy meals (and even some not so healthy ones bc food is for enjoyment!)
I love your observations, they're actually educative! Can you please do Taeyeon and Tiffany next, they seem to have completely new faces in the span of a few years from Oh!GG and Over My Skin eras
I feel like with the fourth generation I’ve noticed a lot more with the younger I don’t see viewing and some of them having really interesting the ideal features that for me personally really hit me that they really make children get work done. Like people in their early to mid 20s it’s still sucks and they shouldn’t have to get procedures or work done or be talked into it but I always liked to have assumed that they didn’t necessarily mess with teenagers or children just because you never know how one is going to look after puberty. But between seeing the way that some of the younger idols are looking and some of them, even looking significantly older than you would assume them to be Because of the way that their facial features and body look as if they’ve already gone through puberty. But also, I think it was the fact that a couple of days ago me and my friend were talking about Chenle from NCT mentioning during either a live or bubble about how the company try to talk him into getting procedures done non-invasive procedures, like getting Botox or injections or wiring in his face to make him look a certain way, and he was only like 15 when he debuted meaning that they would’ve had to have talked to a 13/14-year-old about this and the only reason he didn’t get it done was because he talked about how he was too afraid to do it and didn’t quite understand the only that he was living in a foreign country, and I can only imagine what other young teens and trainees who want to become idols and end up getting told this and not giving it as an option necessarily but I say you have to get this done in order today view it kind of just blows my mind. Then again, I also feel like it shouldn’t be that surprising because I also remember sitting here and growing up watching shows, and being a teenager and watching like the first one that comes to my mind is Dove Cameron, when she was still a teenager/barely in her 20s working on Disney and how her face started to slowly change while she was still under the company and then all of a sudden after she left, she kind of just stopped hiding the fact that she was getting procedures done but I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney was one of the people behind it pushing her to look at her way because he wanted a blonde hair blue-eyed main character that had a certain type of luck to her hands fourth of the nose job, the lip injections, etc. while she was still a Disney actor.
Wonyoung has always been so beautiful and hardworking, but it’s so sad how brutal these beauty standards are. Even if it was her choice, it’s not very healthy to be pressured like that especially at such a young age.
I mean tbf she chose this route and knew the consequences of being an idol. I’m not saying she deserves it but it’s just one of the downfalls of being an idol

Wow I am also a 2004 baby and I can’t believe she got surgery when she was a minor… I’m the same age as her and I can’t imagine myself getting plastic surgery in high school. In 2020 I was in 10th grade and honestly when you put that into perspective that’s so wild that she got plastic surgery at such a young age. That honestly should be illegal to get cosmetic surgery that young unless it’s really needed, like if someone has an extreme overbite or underbite for example or they need a nose job because they can’t breath properly. Other than that plastic surgery should be illegal for minors. I had my own insecurities when I was 16 and I can’t imagine my parents allowing me to get plastic surgery. I’m so glad I have kept my features I was born with!
This. When everyone went supernova on her for eating a strawberry and drinking milk 'weirdly' on camera. I was just sat there going 'A child that was told her whole training/working life that her looks are the most important thing about her, of course shes going to be self conscious about eating on camera.'
She's just a kid and she's such a natural beauty... It's so sad how much pressure and hate knetz throws at kids and comments about their features to make fun of them.. It's completely normal that she ended up being so insecure, she could've even been forced to get that done that's horrible!! I hope that someday that changes and they let ppl live their lives with the faces they have and go under the knife only when they are old enough and grown enough to make that decision themselves.
I’m heartbroken for her, she’s so young and clearly hardworking… but that’s never enough. If even someone as naturally gorgeous as her feels pressured into taking several plastic surgeries, how all these girls will look in their late 20s and beyond?
Nah ur just ugly. She was pretty before surgery. And she only had lip fillers and lost her baby fat. She looks the same other than that. Losing weight can change ur face a lot.
I don't have problems with Plastic surgery. I might even do a temporary one myself one day... depends really. Anyways what I have problems with is the age and situation at which she started doing the plastic surgery. She was young when she started doing them, and she was also at the age where body image is a problem. I'm concerned with the fact that the public scrutinizes her looks so much and paired with the fact that her company probably told her or she thinks that she needs all the surgery to feel pretty or beautiful, will definitely do something to her self esteem. Many idols who went through similar things said it affected them mentally. Just worried for her health lowkey
@@Iluvvv_1 she's barely nineteen and she's grown up in the spotlight. And your point is hella weak. wdym just because I don't know her doesn't mean I can't be concerned for her. Bro. Grow a heart or something

i am shocked that she got that much surgery. like why! she is still young and she should know that when she gets older it will get worse especially with all the surgery she had. like girl stop destroying ur face
She is a completely different person now. The big difference is in her eyes. I still cant believe how good the surgeon did her eyes. What's the procedure called?
What I am concerned is a child that young with a face full of fillers and botox? That is harmful and is going to damage her for the long run. NEVER EVER get FACE fillers, you cannot reverse it. She has a permanent plastic look on her face and really aged, she looks so much older with those fillers. Who is choosing her surgeries? Because her face is permanently damaged, and I fear it is going to get worse, it is already showing!! She looks good on camera but good god the pillow face. She does not have the face for facial fillers nor did she need botox.
it is speculated that she may have gotten fillers to mask her weight loss. ppl say that at her weight, her face might've gotten gaunt so she has to inject facial fillers to hide it. rlly fucked up shit if u ask me.
@@felmargego2534 i do not want to speculate about potential ED's or diagnose anybody, but ive heard that b*limia can cause swollen cheeks (like the full cheeks she has) due the regurgitation of bile/stomach acid. learning about that makes me even more concerned about her. and i've always wondered how her face is so full and plump but the rest of her body is almost wasting away.
while i do agree with you that she’s had eye surgery and lip filler and possibly even jaw surgery, i strongly disagree that she’s had anything done to her nose. eg. the comparison photos at 3:23 show a completely identical nose shape.
I don't doubt Wonyoung likes looking the way she does. She knows how to work a camera and she's always had the camera on her. Can we really blame her for feeling the pressure to look a certain way? It's a LOT for the mind of someone who isn't even 20.
The people who say that face changes when you grow up or go thru puberty?? They need to understand that loosing fat on face is possible but complete changes is NOT bcoz of puberty damn and its not bad to have plastic surgery its just a way ppl feel confident and the industry she is in its just so normal to get such things done to please ppl and the people who comment on how she has done so much sugeries and go like oh im so sad she had do that are the same people who go on talking abt how some features look better and how some look bad its just very doubled standard
Her chin is obviously because of fat loss though. As a stan I think she only got double eyelid and lip filler. I’ve seen most content from her and I’ve seen her face without makeup and her nose is literally the same. Her chin is also not that different, only makeup makes it look more rounder but it’s not round when you look at her without makeup. Also what makes me mad is how these people say she’s lost a ton of weight yet still say she got buccal fat removal???? Like be so fr ur contradicting urself
its okay to have plastic surgery when you are an adult. I dont mind when older idols do surgerys, like tayeon, she is a grown-up and can make her own decisions. but not only was wonyoung critized as a child, but was made to go through surgery when she is barely 18.....
I knew her from Ive and then watched Produce 48. I honestly didn’t even realize her at first she looks so different. She is such a beautiful girl and didn’t need all this surgery done at such a young age. Yunjin, Sakura and Yujin look the same it took me a second to figure out which person was wonyyoung
They bullied a 15 year old girl into getting jaw surgery. People are disgusting. I remember during color*iz defending wonyoung from the horrible haters who called her a fake center. They wouldn’t stop at that, they also had to make fun of her body and face,,,, horrible,
What's sad isn't just the fact that she felt the need to enhance her beauty, what's sadder is the fact people are bullying her for both getting and not getting her face done. See how haters are acting like she's the only idol ever got ps, paint her into a shallow and stupid girl whose value is only her "artificial beauty" and that she and her group don't deserve their current success. Tell me any group with absolutely no member ever get ps, botox or sth similar, tell me that they also don't deserve their success.
poor wonyoung really.. the kpop world is so cruel how could you treat such a young beautiful girl who was always so happy and funny and tease her until she felt insecure and got plastic surgery and now that she did y’all criticize her even more. but y’all were the ones in the first place to make her do it. i feel so bad for her
The girl has gone under many surgeries at such young age. She is always working hard to prove she deserves certain places. The hate she gets is unbearable to her efforts. I'm proud of her.
it’s honestly so sad how wonyoung felt the need to constantly prove herself to the public considering the fact she debuted very young and was constantly scrutinized for her position as a center, which makes sense as to why she felt the need to be perfect even if it meant altering her face at a young age,but it’s honestly getting so out of control especially since she’s only praised for her looks(i’m sorry but that’s the main reason she’s gotten so popular and was given the “it girl title” ) i believe this all got in her head and getting more stuff done is the only way to maintain her position considering the extreme competition in kpop. i just hope she would stop with all the fillers and filters cause shes really starting to look uncanny especially on her instagram pictures, i never knew she got unnecessary hateful comments on her chin or face shape but it makes sense as to why she constantly photoshops her picture despite already having work done i will never understand this entire “extremely small face and head” standard
Same here. My eyelids made the same change between 17 and 20 without any surgery so I assumed that’s what happened to wonyoung as well. My eyelid folds now are much more prominent than when I was a child.
I can see the jaw botox and chin filler but the surgeries are harder to tell. I know some photos seem different but after seeing pics of her without makeup her eyes and nose look the same, but she also lost a bit of fat in her nose which is natural for aging/weight loss. also keep in mind that a nosejob takes months to settle and she's not left the public eye.

And the constant search for a "baby faced x womanly body" idol is THE scariest.
@@uncomfortabletruths7990 it's a bad thing bc it's an unhealthy and unrealistic standard that is being pushed on all women? hello??? it's not a standard that all women can reach without endangering themselves in the process, that's why it is scary. it also exposes everything that is inherently wrong with beauty standards: the obsession with youth and the resulting ageism, constant body shaming for those that do not meet the standard of having a womanly body... which is something that affects every woman in the planet and we all suffer from it, not just in the west so for you to reduce this something "western" is tone deaf and shows lack of awareness.

can we just stop supporting minors debuting in kpop? this is just one of the terrible things they're going to have to go thru: unnecessary and premature plastic surgery forced on them by exploitative companies who use their debut as blackmail more often than not.
But people, especially teenagers, love her :)

i think there's nothing wrong as long as they aware about what life they are going to go. people who debut in young age is the one that is more likely to be successful cause they have been in industry longer and exposure to being young

Honestly no, I hate these "small tweaks". If you ask me a lot of gg members faces look the same.

The girl has gone under many surgeries at such young age. She is always working hard to prove she deserves certain places. The hate she gets is unbearable to her efforts. I'm proud of her.
She's so young to have that many procedures done on her face. 😢
She’s a grown women
She did less, most kpop idols do more than that...
Plz do stray kids hyunjin
check their insta!
can you please look into miyeon from gidle? Her predebute photos along with some or her earlier photos are very very different from her photos today
These makes me so unbelievably sad.
PLZ DO ONE ON TAEHYUNG im pretty sure he has got work done but i cant pin point it
Her whole jaw, eyes and lips are totally different
In 2021 wonyoung talent: ........
In 2024 now wonyoung talent: 100
Where's is the first fancam from? Please ❤
it’s honestly so sad how wonyoung felt the need to constantly prove herself to the public considering the fact she debuted very young and was constantly scrutinized for her position as a center, which makes sense as to why she felt the need to be perfect even if it meant altering her face at a young age,but it’s honestly getting so out of control especially since she’s only praised for her looks(i’m sorry but that’s the main reason she’s gotten so popular and was given the “it girl title” ) i believe this all got in her head and getting more stuff done is the only way to maintain her position considering the extreme competition in kpop. i just hope she would stop with all the fillers and filters cause shes really starting to look uncanny especially on her instagram pictures, i never knew she got unnecessary hateful comments on her chin or face shape but it makes sense as to why she constantly photoshops her picture despite already having work done i will never understand this entire “extremely small face and head” standard
she was always so beautiful and already looked perfect to me imo she did not need all of that
poor child
I always assumed it was natural fat loss
Fat loss accounts for double eyelids and bigger eyes
It also accounts for smaller chin
Same here. My eyelids made the same change between 17 and 20 without any surgery so I assumed that’s what happened to wonyoung as well. My eyelid folds now are much more prominent than when I was a child.
Please do one for Taeyeon please
She was already beautiful pre surgery
I can see the jaw botox and chin filler but the surgeries are harder to tell. I know some photos seem different but after seeing pics of her without makeup her eyes and nose look the same, but she also lost a bit of fat in her nose which is natural for aging/weight loss. also keep in mind that a nosejob takes months to settle and she's not left the public eye.
@@lea5308 the rhino would make her nose stay swollen for months and considering her natural nose is already small it would be noticeable.
also from other images and videos she still has a bump on her bridge.
@@lea5308 no she didn’t. She became an mc right away and even before becoming an mc she had solo projects that were posted on starship’s channel. Know the facts b4 ❤
@@lea5308 girl some of those were claimed (by the youtuber) to happen in izone 💀 So using your logic i can safely say she only got lip filler and eyelid surgery 😊 thank you 💋
she is resilient, such a slayyyyy
I want to know which plastic Surgeon she uses....plzzz
