The CLS W219 was the founder of the fashion of that time, dictated the trend with its unique design of the 4 door coupe. I have a no less beautiful W218, just more modern body style and I think that these two, W219 and W218, are the 2 most beautiful body styles in the Mercedes line up. It's a pity that Mercedes put an end to these magnificent machines. Hopefully one day I will get the CLS55 AMG... Only 2000 units sold in US and it is very hard to find the right one and enjoy it for life.
BTW I just had the seats apart on a 07 w211 e63 and 06 w219 cls63 (this one had vented seats). Interestingly the stitching on the lower swabs are slightly different pattern CLS has less gap and more round stitch pattern on the outer lower swab bolsters than the E. The way the seat swab is fastened between 06 and 07 is also slightly different the 07 seat has more attachment points to "tie down" the leather swab to the foam. Also the CLS leather has more material backing the leather pleats have more depth to them on the centre section (more insulation/foam in there? I mean it is a more expensive car afterall). The CLS leather swab also had the heating elements in the side bolsters and middle fully built and sewed into it. The e63 had the bolster heating elements glued to the foam of the seat base. So yeah a few differences but nothing major for all intensive purposes they are the same. The reason I know all this is because I swapped e63 base swabs into my cls63 just because they had done half the mileage and were in better condition. Finally the leather components of the cls seat and E class are made by different manufacturers in germany. The CLS leather is manufactured by Johnson controls (possibly due to the venting differences from the cooling fan installation and it being a slightly higher end seat with more cushioning) and the E class I think was some company beginning with a K but I forget.
Main difference for me having had both and an e55/e63 is the CLS63 does handle better. I believe this is partly because of the welded passthru so no folding seats like the e63 and this stiffens the car up alot... maybe theres other stiffening points in the cls body I dont thinks so but maybe. I also wonder about swaybar size. My cls deff seems to corner flatter and feels stiffer and I dont think its just down to that welded passthru behind the rear seats.
Quick hack on conductor plate. I had a customer put some radiator leak stop additive get caught in the conductor plate and gunked it up. Major transmission issues. Had to take conductor plate out the transmission clean it and it fixed it!
Thank you for sharing. If I am not mistaken, I think I heard similar stories happening to 5g transmissions not 7g. Which transmissions did your customer have?
Hi, I would like to correct some of the misinformation. The exhaust is different and noisier because the car is sportier compared to the E-Class. There are no differences in suspension bushings or arms. The differences lie in the front and rear sway bars, which have a larger diameter (making them stiffer). According to my memory, the front shock absorbers-and possibly the rears-are valved differently for better handling, though this might result in slightly less comfort. The steering rack is the same across all AMG CLS models and is also shared with AMG E-Class models from 2005 onward. This is why you may not feel a significant difference. However, try the 2004 or earlier E55 AMG - the difference is substantial. CLS is slightly heavier and less aerodynamic compared to E class.

I have a CLS 350 from second generation. It’s more sportive and more wood inside. Technically even better than the first CLS.
The CLS was more stylish and trendy for the era. The W211 form is timeless. Good video comparison.
Both are gorgeous indeed 😎
Cls is still stylish

Very informative video 😊.

Never use any stop leak additives! Lol

@@AccentOnCars yes it was a 5g transmission. E320…
You provided the same hyperlink of the oil extractor for the other items. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for catching that, friend! I will certainly fix it 👍😎
