I hate Niantic due to this. The only way I could EVER do this raid is to find a group online and travel 35 min on a train to meet them. It takes hours of my time. WHY Niantic!??!?!

Mega Altaria is very valid here for both fairy and dragon type attack boost + dragon candy boost. Regidrago has a similar TOTAL stat product to Chesnaught in UL
Why do people keep forgetting mega Altaria exists, when they're discussing the best megas for dragon type raids? It's literally both Fairy and Dragon. You get super affective moves of both types, boost other fairies and dragons raiding with you, AND get the mega boosts for candies and such when catching the encounter.
I totally get that, but not mentioning it at all, when mentioning all the others, is weird. Some players don't know, some players play differently. It's possible to still focus on DPS, while also mentioning other options with disclaimers of lower DPS. I think there's value in mentioning them. But that's just my opinion.
Mega altaria is probably not mentioned because it's not good for doing damage and elite raid pokemon do so much damage with each attack your mega altaria isn't really gonna last longer than a mega latios or slamence but will be doing a lot less damage. When I did regidrago it basically got every one of my pokemon down to 5-15% health after every charge attack so I would only get 2 or 3 charge attacks off before my guys fainted. I got the award for most charge attacks in the raid and only got off about 15 charge attacks.
I figured I wouldn’t be able to do these raids anyway so finding out it’s basically only good for a Pokédex entry makes me feel so much better about not doing any raids for it. Thanks Nick!
You keep mentioning in videos to mega evolve specific types to get more candy, but I was under the assumption that you get bonus candy as long as you have anything mega evolved. It would be counterintuitive to mega evolve a different type to do more damage if you then miss out on bonus candy.

If this Pokemon could learn Lock-On in the future(even though it's unlikely due to not being able to learn this move in the main series games) this pokemon would become META viable going from 28.6% winrate to 61.2% winrate in The Great League according to Pvppoke so if you can get one definitely get one. I can see a move change by the time it comes in raids again.
I’ll probably bust out my mega-altaria for this one; we’ve got a decently big raid community where I’m at and m-alt resists every move except hyper beam, so it’ll last for most of the raid and boost both dragons and fairies
Was a moot point with the first elite hatches this morning- they were not raidable as just came up with an error code whenever you tried to enter the lobby. I think a few people lucked out once the error was addressed & got in before they de-spawned, but they were few. No one was out raiding them in my small community for the second wave & figured there was no point wasting a pass trying to solo it, so I'll try again at 5pm for the final hatches. My take away as a new-ish player so far - elite raids suck if you don't have the privilege &/or luck to live somewhere with a large & active PoGo community. Having a bunch of ex Raid gyms means nothing if there isn't an active group of people playing - It is so disheartening seeing the 9 elite eggs that have hatched already today but being locked out of doing every single one of them because we can't invite players remotely :/
I just got one with 2 other people since there was one outside my house. I love it’s design, and mostly transfer my more valuable Pokémon into Pokémon home, so this is going to be one of them since it will have the go tag and it’s apart of something people will only have the chance to get it
This was the first time in like years that I ran out to do some pokemon stuff... saw like2 people in a raid so jumped in my car drove to the rid had like 5 or 6 people but the raid kept kicking us out of the raid after fainting ....I froze a couple of times... so I did not catch it

I went in person today for the 11 am raid in NZ, caught the new error 36 pokemon. Didn't battle in the raid, sadly so no Regidrago. Cant go to the other raids today. So fun.

why does NIANTIC force in person raids, like WHY i live in a small village and it takes me an hour to get to a place where i can raid it. Also they are probably gonna nerf remote raid passes even more in the future
I'm not really able to travel anywhere anyway due to my legs and a knee surgery I had recently so, the walking and in person bits of go are unavailable for me, makes me sad that it's a get out or loose out kinda system, only way I can raid is remotely, which will also probably be changing soon, just wish it was a more accessible game for those with a disability like me...
Dragons do more damage sure but unless its a Lugia or a tougher raid boss like him. Damage is not what im going for. Ill take SE but also resists the main move it has such as fairy types and how they resist dragon. And with a raid boss like this that is so week 3 barely lvl 40 accounts can kill it ya im not using anything but altaria.
Unless this thing is hard to Solo I probably won't be getting although I do got a ton of fairy, icy and dragon type pokemon maxed out to level 50. Definitely didn't sound enthusiastic in this video would say that. Elite raids would be fine if it meant releasing new legendary pokemon like this early and normal raids later on so everyone else has a chance to get it. I hardly have been seeing anyone battle gyms anymore in my area since some of my Pokemon have been staying in them for two weeks and such which says what kind of Pokemon go community I have in my area.

THIS EVENT WAS A MASSIVE FLOP!! Especially when it came to 5pm. It was the only time some of us could do them, and NOTHING ANYWHERE. Not just my town either, even in the bigger cities I seen reports of none showing up. Niantic screwed up big time here. I had organized a small group, and nothing. I am beyond annoyed.
It's moveset is horrible, bite only is terrible. I get that it doesn't get lock-on in the msg, but it could've at least gotten Dragon Breath. Maybe even Breaking Swipe, THAT would've made it viable in pvp.
I just did a remote raid through raid party and beat it, but even with golden razzes and great/excellent curve ball throws, it would not stay in the goddamn premier balls. Mega Blaziken was like this too. Very frustrating. And fuck Niantic for making remote raid passes cost $$ and not even guarantee catching the boss.
Regidrago didn’t even spawn for me and I had to contact support because not even spawn in the philipines in my area ad huge bugs so not recommended in my opinion sucks
How do you guys know how well a certain Pokemon will do in PvP & all that when they're not available in Pokemon GO yet? Are the stats & all that based from the main series games?
So the moves and pokemon stats are all built into the game code well in advance of when the pokemon is going to be released. Now, Niantic could always change these later on, but with it dropping tomorrow (today in certain parts of the world), odds are good that they won't be changing anything at this time. With that information, people can accurately predict its viability in raids, pvp, etc. We don't need a "test run" of using him to see how he stacks up against the competition. At best, Regidrago is a spice pick in some limited pvp cup formats, and that's it.
Later mega pokemon will debut. Later in this season of rising heroes. Mega Lucario. Water festival Mega Sharkpedo. Bug event Mega Heracross. Adventure Mega Tyranitar. Psychic speculator event Mega Gallade. Steel melee event Mega Mawile. Light festival Mega Camerupt Halloween event Mega Sableye Valentine's Day Mega Audino Dragon lunar New Year Mega Rayquaza. New event Regional tour + annual pokemon festival? For example Kanto Festival? Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. Pokemon Festival 2024 Mega Duncie. Gigamax raid and Dynamax raid will replace Mega raid in the future of pokemon Go. Starting with Gigamax Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise Dynamax Pikachu.
Funny thing is, it has access to Dragon Breath in the main series games. Might not be enough to make it viable, but it would still be better than...just Bite..? Don't really know what Niantic was doing with this poor guy. Hopefully they can fix it's horrid moveset later on.

The only good thing about this raid is that it should be very easy to defeat. This means you don't need a HUGE group of people to take it down. If this thing was harder to beat, it wouldn't even be worth the time.
Has anyone actually seen a 17:00 one? Everywhere I am seems to be 11:00 or 14:00. Most 11:00 which makes me think Niantic made the odds of it triggering on the first and second rolls ridiculously high so there's next to no chance of a 17:00.
What you describe makes me think that 11 is a priority. When there's another elite raid closely nearby, it'll probably always be 14, and yet another one would then be 17, like in my case.
@@scelestion I have a park with 5 EX gyms across 4 level 14 cells. 3 are 11:00 and 2 are 14:00. So that logic deosn't play out for me. Unless the trigger is all 3 gyms being in the same Level 14 cell which seems like it'd be really rare unless the park wasn't divided across 4 cells and instead was a single cell.
Well I can't get one anyway, half the gyms around me don't have the countdown clock running and those that do are only bat 11am and 3pm, no 5pm times like past elite raids, thanks Niantic. Not taking a day off for a game

Every mega boosts every raid boss's catch candy. But only same-type megas boost the chance for XL candy.

I got 2 today, with very weak CP and if I use reggie dragon to battle go, I know it very easy to lose

elite raids suck, they just exclude players instead of bring them together

So basically is only good for a new pokedex entry, also it could have been released in other ways rather than elite raids, elite raids should be for legendary or powerful pokemons
The biggest group I can get to do 5 stars raids is 2 me and my second account if I’m lucky someone else will jump in.
The only good thing about this raid is that it should be very easy to defeat. This means you don't need a HUGE group of people to take it down. If this thing was harder to beat, it wouldn't even be worth the time.

Has anyone actually seen a 17:00 one? Everywhere I am seems to be 11:00 or 14:00. Most 11:00 which makes me think Niantic made the odds of it triggering on the first and second rolls ridiculously high so there's next to no chance of a 17:00.
I live nearby a park with three EX raid gyms, and every time there are elite raids, one is at 11, one at 14, and one 17.
What you describe makes me think that 11 is a priority. When there's another elite raid closely nearby, it'll probably always be 14, and yet another one would then be 17, like in my case.
@@scelestion I have a park with 5 EX gyms across 4 level 14 cells. 3 are 11:00 and 2 are 14:00. So that logic deosn't play out for me. Unless the trigger is all 3 gyms being in the same Level 14 cell which seems like it'd be really rare unless the park wasn't divided across 4 cells and instead was a single cell.
The only ones I saw were at 11 and 2 also so there's something up w this
Well I can't get one anyway, half the gyms around me don't have the countdown clock running and those that do are only bat 11am and 3pm, no 5pm times like past elite raids, thanks Niantic. Not taking a day off for a game

Because it doesn't have as great DPS compared to others.
why is noone mentioning the Ice and Fairy counters? especially due to the fact Dragon is Weak to Dragon so it kinda makes more sens to go with one of the other 2
