I love this technique. I have been doing this with magazine cut outs themselves. After a few coats of acrylic paint they are fairly durable but I can definitely see how an acetate sheet is a step up. I’m going to try this. Another suggestion is to use your own photographs with this technique. It makes your imagery more personal. I like to combine silhouettes of my kids at different ages. I like baby pictures combined with pictures of the same person as a grownup. It’s fun to see if I can remember who’s who just by body posture.

Yes! And not just acrylic paint. You can also use acrylic or alcohol inks, pastel, watercolour (with some limitations). Inkpads (like distress ink) are also used.
