I would say you are the most inspirational person for photography. At least for me. Those techniques that you mentioned in the video are very easy to understand. The way that you talk in the video without editing, and cutting like others makes me really enjoy to watch
One thing about Luke is, he is all about the skill rather than the high end lights, cameras, etc. I've learned a shit ton from this guy and I couldn't be happier watching him impart his wisdom onto us. Thanks Luke. You're the best
I bought cheap shadow box frames and covered them with parchment paper. The shots turned out GREAT! Thank you for this vid too, Luke. It just makes sense!
My wife started doing product photography a couple of years ago. She mainly works with bracelets and we've found that the 12x12 sheets of paper you can buy from Hobby Lobby and other craft stores works so so well for flay lay backgrounds. And there is so much variety you can get for under a dollar per page. She uses it a ton and it looks great. It has been a boon for us as we learn. And your videos have helped that learning process a lot! I love your tone in these videos and how you explain things. Much respect!
I shoot mostly jewelry, and bought an assortment of leather scraps on ebay for backgrounds. lots of colors and textures, and a nice contrast with "sparklies" :-) They were around $10 for a big box full. you can also get a12" x 12" pad of heavy weight paper with assorted designs. They're sold with scrapbooking supplies. Also have used jeans, lace doilies, a jacket, scarf and other things in a pinch, to get a particular look.
This is a super helpful video, thanks Luke! I do handcrafted and custom leather goods, and my biggest lack in my business has always been my photography. Definitely going to be watching a bunch of your videos now!
I enjoy your videos - that's like me - I am creative - I found white does nothing for clear glass products and so I used my black cardigan as a backdrop for the glass and it made a big difference to the glass - it showed the sharpness of the lines of the glass - it actually was a tall narrow three-lined sided vase or known as a single rose vase - you could see through the glass to the black backdrop - it blocked out the sharpness of the light I was using and showed up the lines of the vase better - I was very pleased with myself but at the same time doubt set in but went with it anyway LOL!!! Thanks for all your videos on knowing how to control the light was amazing.
Do have a scale to which you price your sessions? I’m shouting a party in a couple of months and plan to pull some client contacts from it. But what to charge for what? Do you have any tips on pricing corporate headshots, portraits and so on Thanks from Atlanta GA
Pricing is personal and any ideas I give you may not apply in all situations. Depends on the type of client with how I judge it. Businesses and people who look like they can afford good quality work (and make sure you deliver quality to that standard) could be charged from $500-$1000+. Whereas you're everyday person could go for around $250. Or even $100 when you're just starting out.
Hey Luke...thank you for the advice. You can also go to your home improvement stores and take pictures (with your cell phone) on the sly...😊. They have alot of textured items.
I just bought the course dam all this information is 10/10 I already started reading the article and I love it haven’t even got to the videos!! Love it 10/10 course
Thank for yr videos..Learn some cool tips..I am trying to help sell some stuff online and now nothing much about o photography ..You are not only a good photographer but a good teacher as well, the way you use illustration and examples to get your point across..
Luke you are amazing guy and always introduced very easy clicks of products and i am impressed by your work . I have a question how can you simplify your clicks. Is this the result of your strong education in photography or your good experience?. i am not good in photography but whenever i watch your video i learnt new idea SIMPLE, SUPER EASY , ELEGENT & DECENT. THANK you so much with lots of love
Good video, sometimes a simple table lamp is all you need to take a great shot. I do agree that background is just as important as the subject because that’s what makes it more interesting. As always, appreciate the humor 😁.
just love the australian accent. Not sure if marble is he best for plastic plantie LOL(it does not fit)...but dam it, I love the video. Straightforward and great simple tutorial. Thanks for sharing Luke
Omg you responded. You have just made my day. Will you do a video on diagonal composition for flatlay I really don't understand it... U make things more simple only if you get time OK 😆

Great video what textured background you would you recommend for a kraft brown box with an aqua logo on the box?
