Even quicker is to press and hold the back button for a second. Works on other brands as well.
Yes, this works on my CX.
That didn't work for me when I tried, but the three dots menu did work. Figures it's the one button I didn't try. 😅
Doesn’t work for me
Thank you ❤ works on my lg 48cx model
Since the last update this no longer works.......end of June.
Thank you. This is very helpful! Also I just figured out you can change your Home Setting back to Basic instead of the New one so it is only a bar on the bottom of your screen when you hit home. This option is nice because it says recent apps and you can close all recent apps there. I notice my TV works much better with this setting. Thank you again.
Hey. Where did u go to change the home setting back to basic? Thanks in advance
@@2coolgamerz Settings > all settings > general> home settings > home style > basic home
Super nested! I guess they really don't want you to do it. 😂
@@EngineeringwithDrKelseyJoy thanks so much for this. Happy Holidays

Bro thank you I upgraded my Netflix for 4k on my new TV and couldn't get the app to fully close. This was it I appreciate your video short concise and accurate.
😮 *I've had my C1 for over a year and never knew this til now* 😂 thanks!! Thought I knew everythin.
Big thanks from SharmElsheikh ,Egypt
I'm your big fan in the middle east
See you here soon 👏
Thank you.
I'd love to come and visit.
That's for the info big chap, just took delivery of a 65" QNED86 last week and now knowing how to properly close app will help 👍
I knew that apps wouldn't properly close. This is a great help
Helped me out a bunch. Prime was playing up and was jumping endlessly through menus to find force quit. Thanks for the video.
But how do we "close all" like on the old version of the Home screen?? This has been frustrating me since the update; I've had to switch it back to old home screen to get a bunch closed at once
How’d you switch the Home Screen back? I have a nanocell and haven’t been able to close apps since the new update
Same. Couldn't figure out how to close the apps so reverted back to the basic (and in my opinion) nicer UI
@@acraigers3318General -> Home settings -> Home Style
@@DeclanSharkey aye, I actually really like the new home, I just like the sleekness and simplicity of the old one, too 😂
@@HarrisMcGrade yeah, I didn't like that it's a whole new screen. I liked the old UI because I could still see the content I was watching. The new layout is nice though. There's just a bunch of stuff on there I won't use
Thanks Paul. I always had a problem with NOW TV app. If I shut down tv with app on and when I turned the tv back on again the app would not load. I would have to turn the tv off again for it to work. Excellent tip.
But what about a list of background apps? Before you could hold the home button and see all apps still running and close them all with one click. Where is that feature now?
Exactly! They (LG) couldn't leave well enough alone! I have been wondering the same thing. Not sure why they got rid of it in the first place.
Agreed, my Oled did this new update and now even this method shown in this video doesn't even work on mine. I have no options to force close at all.
@@dhrallstar9any update?
So...I have lg cx and the solution for me was going to settings, all settings, general, home settings, then finally click "Home Style" and choose "basic home"... Now I close everything with 2 clicks... Magic

My lg nano 866na 65 inch had a update with a new style home page the way I use to close the app down has gone any idea how to close the app down I've tried 3 dots on remote no joy
Just got a G3, out the box the WebOS is horrible. Laggy, apps take forever to launch. Glad I had an Apple TV 4K ready to use. It sucks that major price tag TVs still shop with horrible software. It’s expected though
The button doesn’t work on my remote. What other options are there please? I hate the new update, cant close all the background apps properly
It didn’t work for me also. I had to switch back to the basic Home screen to force close apps the old way
@@makennabond64what tv you have?
To really fix this issue, you can revert back to the old style of Home Screen that makes it possible to force quit apps. Go to Settings>General>More Settings>Home Screen Settings>Style> click “Basic”. Now, the Home Screen will be its old style where you can quit apps under “Recents”
Thank you! UA-cam refused to close without this!
Hi Paul, I hope you are all well,
I didn't know this one, nice one fella.
First video of yours I watched. The name "Giant" is fitting. 😂... Love the vids.
😁👍
Just found out last night that this doesn’t work with the LG GX. I suppose I should’ve expected that.
I had sn Update on my lg b9 and holding the homebutton wssnt the same anymore... but u have to go to the settings and switch it from the new setting to the basic. Then it works again. I always use it to be clean😊
Wow, I spent so much time trying to figure it out and your explanation just solved my problem. Sent u some thx!
thanks! couldnt figure out how to do it on the newer LgOS after they updated the Home screen

Thanks bro, was trying to do it for 5 mins... your video saved our evening
No worries mate 🙂
How do you see what apps are currently running in the background? Can’t see what ones I have open now.
Do I have to load every single random app and shut it down?
The old interface you just held the home button and they all showed, which you could then close all together.
Hi from Egypt... Really i appreciate your efforts
Allah bless you 🙏
Thanks!
Idk what I would do with out you brotha ❤
Thanks for the video. Greetings from Mexico.
Thanks for watching!
I don't understand why LG are changing thing in worse... The LG CX has the best implementation of closing apps. You just keep pressed the home button and you can see and close every opened app.
You can always go back to basic home. To get the old layout
I don’t know why they removed that. I like the new layout but can’t figure out how to force close apps.
Absolutely life saver
Hi Paul. Great tip. I always find the Amazon app lets me select my profile and then it restarts and makes me do it again. Odd.
Is there a way to quit all running apps, in case more than one is open in memory?
Thanks, I recently bought a lg cs6 oled and in fact I did not understand why it did not close the app well when I went out😅
Hello. Can you please tell me how to remove certain tv channels from my LG smart tv? Thank you 🙏
Would you please check the latest update? I don’t have that option anymore. I have a C9 Oled. Please help
Back button nor 3 dots helps. There is no quit app option in the top corner menu even though Netflix is frozen on profile select. Can we have a more.in depth helpful video/tips?
Thanks
Thank you for the super thanks 😊
Thank you so much you are a hero. 😅
Is there a way to turn off LG smart TV app altogether? My uncle has a little dementia and uses a firestick 4k with a more simple remote. The problem is sometimes when he turns back the TV on it's no longer on the HDMI channel with the 4k firestick on , it's on the LG version of the smart tv.
Thanks so much. Glad it was to the point.
The best britain in the world
Thank you for this video !
How about holding on the back button?
man...I was looking for this for ages. thanks.
Lol this is exactly what I was looking for
Not sure if there's been an unhelpful update since, but when I press the three dots the menu that comes up has all of those options... Except Quit App 🤦♂️
Same for me. Only current way I know how to close an app switching back to basic home style and then hold the Home button.
So this would be very similer closing apps on a LG BX Oled but from close running apps under the recent apps screen right?
Any news when you might be getting your hands on the new 2023 TVs looking forward to see your thoughts on these new models
Thank you my HERO 🙏🏽 I always appreciate your help ✨
Thank you! My netflix and disney+ kept not loading in and i literally could not find a way to close app.. had to uninstall and reinstall every time it froze..
this doesn't work on CX, I don't see a quit app option
Ty so much bro!!!
Thanks for that!
No problem!
THANK YOU
I have a CX. Tried this but there's no option. Wish there was a way.
On LG CX keep the home button pressed and you can see every opened app.
My … menu doesn’t have those options. 😢. How old is your LG?
Thank you!
Omg so easy 😂 thanks!!!
Please help!!! So my lg tv just updated (it looks just like urs in the video now)
And before this update I could exit them bc I had the option to do so to clear them off…
But After this update I don’t have it anymore- everything is diff.
And my remote doesn’t have … 3 dots on it.
Also it won’t work if I hold the back button either like some said in comments… SO HOW CAN I CLOSE THEMM NOW. This is annoying
Same for me, Im still looking for solution, meanwhile i found an option to restore the old menu..
i had this same issue. i tried all the steps i’ve found online and on the tv, but can’t figure out how to close the apps.
what i did find though was an option to revert the ‘home’ view back to the way it was before the update.
settings > all settings > general > home settings > home style > basic home
@@user-ct8yk3wn2f thank you for this! I had no idea how to close apps after the new update
@@acraigers3318you can close them either using the return button while in an app and click on close or holding the return button a few secs, however, i did switch back to the basic home screen, now it’s like before the new update
Thank you! Very helpfull video
An issue I'm having is with apps reopening and resuming play. On Peacock for instance, I stop a show and click HOME. If the app is still highlighted after approx 1 min, the app opens on it's own and resumes the show. It's almost like an autoplay. I can't find a setting to stop it. I guess exiting may be the only way but it's hard to remember it every time.
I have the same issue. I chatted with LG Support about it. He didn't have a solution. He also didn't seem to think there is an actual autoplay feature. So, I don't know if this issue is actually intended or an annoyance that they could fix. I ended up here and found this Quit method. So, now I need to Quit when done watching on an app.
Switch back to the old version of the Home Screen and try force quitting the app. Go to Settings>General>More Settings>Home Screen Settings>Style> click “Basic”. Now, the Home Screen will be its old style where you can quit apps under “Recents”
Hi please help me! When I press the three dots I get three options : user guide, information and quick help .
Geez Paul, very helpful! Thank you!
My pleasure
Thank you
No worries
This no longer works with the latest update for the LG C3.
Companyware 3.31.45.
I never knew that thank you 😊
Thx man
👍's up keep it going thank you
Great tip! Big thanks!😊👍🏻
That's what she said
I don’t get the quit app option on mine. What do I do then?
Sorry, not work on my CX
Cheers mate
Oh man super easy. Yet very useful! thanks for this
Yea the three dots button has zero function on my LG smart TV. I've found most of this "magic remote" to be trash and not actually have any function. The TV isn't that great either. Wish I would have done the smart thing and bought a Samsung. No wonder this TV was so cheap for a 65in haha. But yea, I have zero way to close out of any app. I have to unplug the TV, plug it back in, open a different app, then go back to the app I wanted to restart. Such a hassle that I have to do this daily.
I also noticed if you click the mic button and say the word "exit" it will fully close the app.
EDIT: I have an LG C1, I can't vouch if that will work on all versions of LG OLEDs.
Genius.
My problem is that I clicked the home button on the remort and when the screen popped up of the apps and now I am confused how to go back on the local tata sky channels
Unfortunately doesn’t work
Does anyone know how to close apps on thw CX? Used to hold the home button but after the update it doesn't work
I second this. Came here hoping this was it, unfortunately not.

I always have problem with Netflix app on my C9 and C2 - it freezes for 20-30 seconds sometimes in menu sometimes at the end of the episode etc. I tried to reinstall, change wifi settings etc. Any ideas how to solve it ? Every other app runs perfectly.
Have you checked for any updates on it? As so.etimes tge apps will still run, but there are updates available for it.
Other times you are forced to update before it will even fore up.
It won’t do it for the lg b9

Tried doing this with the LG channels App but it does not close . You have to go back to Home screen and leave the app open !!
Doesn't work on mind apparently
This didn’t work on the 4.41.45 software version.
This just turns descriptive audio on and off for me
nope no close app button
Same here
I just received this update on my CX65 and the 3 dots doesn't have access to closing the app. 45 minutes now and still have no idea how to reset appa
Hold the return button a few seconds and it closes the app completely or just hold it shortly and then click on close the app, however there isn’t an option anymore to close serveral apps in the home menu like before i think
