To those who criticize, people forget that Nuno Oliveira had mainly correction horses. And you can tell in this video that whenever the horse falls back into his bad habits he is helping him to figure it out. Very impressive...
SO BEAUTIFUL! His line and posture never change and the horse is so relaxed and “listening”. No head tossing, no tail swishing, no signs of any uncertainty or stress. Fluid and graceful. I’ve had instructors that would get on me about “looking down” and a “bent neck”. I think quiet, relaxed lines, legs, hands and seat are more important than a high chin, and he proves it. Lovely!
Look how relaxed he is throughout his whole ride. And his horse reflects that. Nice loose rein the whole time. He had soft hands that most of us strive for our entire riding career. Something to strive for. This type of skill is not learned overnight. It takes decades of disciplined ride under a careful gaze of a riding master like Nuno.

I never thought I would criticize el Maestro, but I do wish in this clip his outside rein was more firmly connected to his seat. And that his seat was both heavier and more level. I see the horse seeking his guidance as to where to place its hocks. It’s a very fine point. The excellence of Oliviera’s work was his ability to balance legerite with depth of connection. Here, one sees the horse struggling with the adduction of the hind limbs in the lateral movement. There is in particular a deficiency in the left hind. I shall be pilloried for saying so, but this actually derives directly from the asymmetry in Nuno’s contact. You may commence flaming me now.
It was hard to watch the first day-the stiffness in the stifle and gaskin, and the horse trying to give more. The second day-beautiful! The energy and grace of his front legs, the gentle flexibility in his back and hindquarters! I could see the impulsion from his hindquarters flow into the bit, and he carried himself so much better! Truly beautiful work!
Pouco conhecido no Brasil, é o maior cavaleiro do século XX.

There was actually tail swishing, you must have missed it. But there was A LOT LESS than what most riders make happen.

La forma del commento è un poco "ruspante", ma la sostanza è pienamente condivisibile.
wonderful - my favorite video, it's great
Me encanta su ligereza, su calma......!!!
The horses and Olivero are werking together. You see the horse love to do the things. Very relaxing and good horsemanship.
Thank you for this 👍😍

What a Master !!!!
Excelente
Impressionnant de voir comment en quelques minutes avec presque rien le cheval se décontracte et devient fluide.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
if I see this, I ask myself why he is thought to be such a great master? All the beauty and nature of the horse is gone, poor horse...
