Philippe Karl har verkat som beridare vid den franska kavalleriskolan i Saumur och ansvarade under många år för deras uppvisningsprogram och galaföreställningar

Under åren 2009-2011 genomfördes en instruktörsutbildning i Sverige med Philippe Karl som lärare.
Vid ett av dessa kurstillfällen fick vi möjlighet att dokumentera en teorilektion och en ridlektion med en av sina instruktörselever Anna Wallén, Uppsala.
Under evenemanget Hansa Pferd utanför Hamburg 2014 medverkade Anna Wallén tillsammans med en grupp instruktörselever i en riduppvisning som mottogs med stående ovationer.
Philippe Karl är en förkämpe för att hästen ska behandlas med respekt i samband med all utbildning och träning. Han har en konstnärlig ådra och förmågan att rita och teckna hästar samtidigt som han talar gör hans lektioner mycket tydliga och lätta att följa.
För den som söker mer kunskap kan den senast utgivna boken ”Twisted Trouth of Modern Dressage” rekommenderas.

Philippe Karl - Theory lesson
During the years 2009-2011, there was a training instructor course in Sweden with Philippe Karl as teacher.
At one of these occasions we were able to document a theory lesson and a riding lesson with one of his instructor students, Anna Wallen, Uppsala, Sweden.
During the event Hansa Pferd outside Hamburg in 2014 Anna Wallén participated, together with a group of instructor students in an equestrian performance that received standing ovationes.
Philippe Karl is a good representative for the horse to be treated with respect in the context of all education and training. He has an artistic talent and ability to draw and scetch horses while he speaks, which makes his lessons very clear and easy to follow. - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини

To bring the horse to the vertical you need to extend the neck-- Cudos! The horse extending his neck as the final part of collection was first proposed as a completion of a gymnastic move
by Dr. Deb Bennet in the mid 1980's, to my knowledge. She should be acknowledged for her pioneering scientific research.

Great introduction/overview to true classical training/proper biomechanics. All of this material is covered in his book "Twisted Truths of Modern Dressage", which is now out of print unfortunately (grab a copy if you can find one!! They do show up once in a while..) so this is a good way to get an intro to the work.

I ALWAYS resisted " Dressage"...what I now know is "Modern dressage".
In my 9th year of learning about horses and humans...so...still in my virgin-stage🤣.
One thing I am interested in is: how to translate applying Classical Dressage training WITHOUT a bit?.
Am convinced that CD CAN be applied without two bits ( or even one).

And for our further discussion, may we consider that “forward” is a condition of willingness, NOT VELOCITY. This is why “HALT” is a FORWARD TRANSITION.
“Tightening the reins” also means “seeking the contact”. We should stop saying “on the bit” but “in the SEAT! (imho).” If we just learn to SIT THERE, with a still seat and SIMPLE listening hand, the horse gives the mouth, and then the back and the poll. I was JUST thinking about the crank noseband! I disagree about sidereins on the longe. I rehabilitate horses, my specialty is “mystery lameness”-and this is TEXTBOOK!
However, I think side reins on the longe-properly fitted-facilitate the horse’s understanding of “contact”, and very much can be learned from watching how the horse not merely seeks, but utilizes that connection unmounted on the longe. Doesn’t mean you manipulate the bit. Means you make it stable in your hands by being deeply seated.By watching on the longe, you can see what you will later FEEL.

In reference to the Cronology of: Mouth, Neck, poll flex...
Is the poll Open when the horse extends his neck "forward"... than the horse can move its neck...which can flex the neck???

Thank God we're not in the 90's and there's much more information out there ... PK is a good searcher, but his conclusions are limited. Everything comes from behind, the movement of the hind. Everything else is common sense and sensitivity.
When one of the first things he mentions is to ride as many horses as you can, I immediately stopped listening. I have a full-time job and am lucky enough to own one horse. 🤷🏻♀️ Ride what horses? When?
The hind end is responsible for the actions of the front
