Carl, thank you for doing such a great job on not only your rebuild but your videos of the NP243 TC. You and RickaFix (as well as a few others) inspired me to rebuild my own GM NP246 transfer case and produce a few videos. Keep up the great work!
Using this video really helped me rebuild my np149 np3 transfer case in my yukon denali. I know they have there difference but it was still educational so i really appreciate you and what you do. Thanx
I have a leak from what you called the “inner extension housing” and the trans case. I have removed the tail and the snap ring like you but my “inner extension housing” still does not come off. It is loose and wiggles but only moves off the trans case about 1/4 inch. Any ideas ? Are they that snug that I should attempt to pry it off ?
Hello Carl I know I'm a few years late lol. My transfer case makes a clunk whenever I put my 4x4 in a bind and the 4x4 fails when it clunks but never fully disengages. I was wondering if it was most likely the chain slipping? Or what your thoughts would be on this?
Carl thank you. My issue is similar except I have a 243c that is going to replace the 241c. because that is what I have to put in it for now. I'm curious how this is electrically being that my 95 is obd1 this is out of a newer suburban so going from manual shift to electrical from push button but if I can I want to keep it manual shift if that makes sense. If it's possible any direction for me would be greatly appreciated.. this is the best video I've seen yet on this. Thank you thank you
If you are going from electric to manual it's no problem just cut a hole in the floor for the shifter and job done. If you want the indicator to work you would need to figure out the wiring for it. Hope that helps.
@@Broncocarl92 Carl thank you for the quick reply. Mine is already manual so the shift mechanism in floor is already there. The transfer case I have to use is a newer one I think out of a 96 Tahoe there are two additional harness connections so I'm just wondering if I'd have to eliminate themcç
Question for you? 89 gmc k1500 truck. I have a clunk from drive to reverse or from gas to cost with a howl going down the road. Only howls after it warms up. U joints are good. What would be a likely culprit transfer case or rear end?
more likely the rear.. put parking brake on, chock wheels, put trans in neutral and see how much play you have by turning drive shaft by hand left and right.
Not sure if it's me or not but not much explaining of where to look and what to remove just alot of watching his elbow and table full of parts at the end????

@@kevinbabcock5106 Well if it came out of a truck with push button 4x4 you're going to be out of luck. There is no place to connect the lever.
Cool
How many miles has the $15 kit lasted?
Hey Carl, I am about to rebuild an NP246, How has the bearing and seal kit from TransPartsWarehouse held up? Any issues?

+Broncocarl92 thank you I'll give it a shot
there is not anything on a 271 D transfer case rebuild been looking all day
Transmissions-- collections of springs, c-clips, bearings, seals... AUGH!
